This story is a sequel to Legends Never Die: A New Age

Sunny Starscout has disappeared, and her friends are frantic. While everypony else reluctantly agrees that the earth pony is not somepony they can trust anymore, her friends refuse to accept this fact and resolve to find Sunny and lift her of the curse they are sure has been placed on her. However, they are warned that, if they assist a traitor, they themselves will be considered traitors in their own right. Meanwhile, Sunny is held captive in the company of three of Equestria’s worst villains who have dark plans for the land once they succeed in taking it. Assisting them are two ponies who have dark intentions of their own. Sunny is still recovering from the effects of her curse and has no hope left for the future… until she discovers the plans that these villains have for her friends. She needs to find them and warn them. All of Equestria will be at stake.

(By the way all of this is from my alternate universe from G4 all the way to G5 and my next story will be a prequel to this one explaining what Twilight and her friends went through BEFORE all this happened. By the way, at some points this story gets pretty dark. Title is My Little Pony: Friendship is Eternal.)

Ponies have reported mysterious happenings all over - sightings of strange creatures that leave destruction wherever they go. Still more are seeking help - a magic thief is on the loose. Not to mention the North seems to be acting especially strange. It falls to Sunny and her friends, new and old, to fix all of it. But she has started hearing voices in her head - voices that seem to have her worst interests at heart. She needs to find the strength to protect both her friends and what they stand for.

This story is a sequel to Harry Potter and the Crystal Empire — Intermission

It was reminiscent of his first years at Hogwarts on Earth. Harry took the train to the Crystal Empire and found himself in his old digs at Hogwarts in short order. But, things are not as they were. Minerva McGonagall has taken control of the school and is shepherding her students into a new life not just as ponies, but after the war against King Sombra's forces, protectors.

The only thing that remains same is there's a great evil threatening the peace of Hogwarts, the Crystal Empire, and the ponies, wizards, and witches that live within.

Sunset Shimmer, personal student of Princess Celestia, is the most gifted Unicorn in Equestria. She has long-neglected personal connections in favor of studying and ambition. Celestia, concerned by her student's behavior, searches for a way to help her student grow as a pony. As a last resort, her thoughts turn to Starswirl's Magic Mirror, that it could show Sunset a new way, or to a path of darkness, but then something or rather somepony comes as her solution. Sunset now finds herself teaching her own student, a bookish and anti-social young Unicorn named Twilight Sparkle. Can the two form an actual connection, or will their anti-social tendencies lead to disaster?

The neighboring kingdom of Aurora lays to the north of Equestria has always been reclusive. Much like there Queen Eventide, even through there generations of isolationism the diarchy of Equestria has always tried to form relations to no avail.
Queen Eventide had always respectfully decline the many invitations sent by Celestia. Mandatory meeting of the kingdoms was always visited by a trusted representative, and dispatching hardly sincere apologies as she declined to attend the celebrations. Yet to the princesses surprise the queen accepted to attend this years Grand Galloping Gala, why now of all celebrations?
Eventide, the queen, is a unicorn. As was her husband, King Astrid, who has sadly passed. And she to will pass on one day. The royal pony sisters had always wondered why she had not chosen a heir to assend to the throne on the day of her passing. But they didn't know of her only child, her heir. One who had wished to see the Equestrian capital city of Canterlot. The princess of the Aurorian throne, alicorn heir to her mother. Princess Twilight Aurora Sparkle, child of Queen Eventide

Long ago, the Chaos gods were five, and Malal who sought chaos in the destruction of chaos, the heirarch of Anarchy and Terror, was banished. Isolated to an area of space in which it could do no harm to it's former family.

Millions of years later, Princess Celestia observes as the chaos gods, the Imperium, and many other factions begin to arrive in her distant corner of the universe, and reinforces an eons-old quarantine. Ships that attempt to invade go missing or are "reformed" and she has reluctantly let Twilight build up a well prepared planetary defense force.

But when that defense force is put to the test, Celestia decides to call upon the family that once banished her, rather than risk more lives in the conflict.

Life before she got her cutie mark was simple. Ponies would wave and smile at her, while her family was like any other. Yet on that fateful day, her mask fell, and they all discovered what she really was..

As time goes on, puzzles pieces fit together, secrets are told and some are made. Yet the truth lies in the shadows... as the day blinds the darkness...

If you make it this far, you want to find out what? First off, please toss away your own personal canon temporarily and just think this canon out.

What if?

Celestia and Luna's so-called retirement from ruling Equestria was a sham, and they never remained in silver shoals (the only time you saw them there was during the last problem).

What if?

Their another reason for saying they retired to silver shoals? (It was a cover story)

What if?

They never planned to hand Equestria over to Twilight Sparkle, or it was only temporarily (how about for three hundred years give or take a hundred years), and Twilight Sparkle never knew of this wrinkle (because they want her to rule as the ruler of Equestria without worrying about their return).

What if?

Now we are getting into Generation five with the breaking of the three crystals.

What if?

The three crystals only shattered because Celestia and Luna failed to return after three hundred years to rule Equestria once again. Slowly each pony breed started to mistrust each other because they didn't know why the three crystals broke (it was easy to blame each other for them).

Now Sunny Starscout and her friends are about to learn the answers to some of those what-if questions. There is a legend about an ancient ruin of a grand castle somewhere in Bridlewood forest; it is said to be guarded by three ancient unicorn spirits.
