At the height of the EndWar, a Ghost team has orders to track down a madman who has kidnapped some of the United States' top scientists. However, when it turns out that the madman has used them to build a portal to escape from the world's ongoing onslaught, he runs through, forcing the Ghost team to follow through and take him down. In the aftermath of events, the Ghosts realize that they have no way to return home, and find themselves in a middle of a conflict that calls upon their talents to protect Equestria.

Flash has a problem. He doesn't remember anything before waking up in the Crystal Empire's Military Infirmary. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Twilight Sparkle, and serves her brother, Shining Armor as a Private in the Royal Guard. He already hurt Twilight once. Now he's got the chance to right the wrong, after an impossible leap in military ranks and re-stationing in Ponyville as Twilight's personal Guard. But he's going to find out there's more to him than he ever remembered before.

As Canterlot picks up the pieces after a surprise attack that left the city reeling, ponies whisper and spread rumors of their attackers. A lone infiltrator in their midst knows the truth, for he has kept their existence secret through deception and bloodshed.

Now the secret is out, and with his brothers and sisters blasted into the wilderness, he begins the task ordered by his Queen. Hiding among the ponies behind a smiling mask, he eventually finds a mare with information he needs.

An offer of friendship is made and accepted. As she lowers her guard to him, he takes one step closer to reaching his goal.

He has a role to fill. To avenge the Hive, Princess Celestia must die.

Pastern is Princess Celestia's personal maid. When a Changeling raid kidnaps her, she finds the only means of escape is befriending her captor, a Changeling by the name of Gaskin. They escape together and have to live in a town that hates Changelings.

After suffering terrible losses, Queen Chrysalis struggles to even walk, due to famine. All desperate attacks for love failed, and now, she's seeing her changelings die, blaming herself. She breaks down in tears, feeling she doesn't deserve to be called a ''Queen''. But, after a few gentle words from her general, she gets told to believe in miracles. And miracles happen.
She gets a visit from a strange guest who might actually save her and make her reconsider the definition of 'love'.

And with these words, Starlight Glimmer transported herself and Princess Twilight through the time portal. However where she winds up is not where she expected. And she isn't alone either. Who is this pony from her past and how does he know so much about her?

After the Crystalling, Starlight Glimmer starts to feel quite fond of Sunburst. She's always thinking about him and feels her stomach explode in butterflies whenever he comes to mind. She is constantly hoping from a letter from him, and has a strange desire to be close to him.

She approaches her mentor, Twilight Sparkle, questioning if these feelings are normal for friendship, or if their friendship is... special for whatever reason.

A brief discussion had by Twilight and Starlight with a few slightly humorous scenes.

At the assault on Canterlot, she was a medic, but not for the Equestrians.
After the assault is concluded, a new struggle for the Changelings begins as those who survive must still find food and shelter.
Will the Equestrians simply forgive the Changelings for their assault on their capitol, and if so how bumpy a road is this going to become?
