Celestia is dying. Or at least it seems so. Afflicted with a curse that is destroying her very nature, she sets a plan in action.
The Bearers of the Elements of Harmony will take the throne in her wake... Not that they know that yet...

(Takes place as an Alternate Season 3)

When Princess Celestia calls Princess Twilight over to Canterlot to 'talk', Twilight knows something's up. She brings her friends, but Celestia requests and audience with Twilight. Alone.

Celestia explains about the great alicorns of old, and how an alicorn's spirit is different from other ponies'. Alicorn spirits live forever, but they need a host once their original body dies.

One of the hosts were in that room.

Follow Princess Twilight as she goes on a quest of self discovery... to defeat the greatest villain of them all.

Set in an alternate timeline. Fluttershy encounters a strange creature in the woods. After realizing the animal is injured she tries nursing it back to health only to discover she has one of the most dangerous and powerful mages ever to inhabit Equestria in her care.

After Twilight and her friends rediscover Starswirl’s last spell in the ruins of Golden Oaks Library Rainbow Dash asks, ‘why can’t we all become alicorns?’ Now Ponyville is host to five brand new alicorns and the girls have everything they could ever want; magic, flight, power, influence and all of Equestria wide-open before them... but being a Princess is far more than just having wings and a horn.

WRITTEN BEFORE SEASON 5!!!
Without altering anything canon up to season 4 (though the movies are kind of skipped over, sorry), I manage to completely rewrite everything that happened. No, seriously. And it all started based off of Discord's photo-bomb in Fluttershy's window during the season 4 theme.

What if, rather than leaving with Celestia after he was reformed, Discord ended up staying at Fluttershy's house, unknown to any of the other ponies? Chaos ensues. (Pun intended. )

Right after the events of the sonic rainboom, it is decided that Spike the newly hatched dragon is to be sent to live with his own kind, but with all the negative relations with the dragons, it was bound to cause trouble, the guard tasked with the transport of the whelp decides why risk his flank, so he flies to the Everfree Forest and deposits the baby. But he is unaware that he flew over 5 little fillies who all happened to making their way to the small village at the forests edge.

They see the guard leave the poor defenseless baby in the forest, so they retrieve him, but this has its consequences. Spike who started out with no family, now has 5 mommies.

Inspired by all the stories about Spike in other families.

When Twilight discovers she gained the power of immortality along with the ability to control the sun and moon from Celestia and Luna, she decides immortality is a fate worse than death and decides she must give her power to someone else rather than suffer generations of loss.

Now has a midquel taking place between chapters one and two, Luster Dawn Friendship Successor.

Was for a long time deleted and combined into one story after being edited. Luster Dawn New Days. Read whichever one you want but this is the original story brought back at the request of another user. The first story of the Successor Verse.

Authors Notes: These stories use a theory I developed gathering info through the mlp wiki rather than the widely believed theory that immortality is the ability of alicorns.

If you believe immortality is a gift you are entitled to your opinion, but please be respectful. I'm trying to give people who don't want Twilight to suffer the curse of immortality an alternative. I would not read this if you are someone who firmly believes immortality is a gift.

Princess Celestia and Princess Luna wanted to retire from their Royal duties, and place Princess Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Applejack as Equestria's new rulers. But after more thought, they realized that it may be too much too soon for Twilight and her friends.

But after Twilight and the others were back at Twilight's castle, as they talked, they eventually figured out that they may be much more ready than they gave themselves credit for, except maybe Rainbow Dash.

Unfortunately, there was another very important fact that they, even Twilight, all overlooked, and may not be discovered until it's too late...
