Blinkadette Rosalyn Pie's 20th birthday is approaching, and she knows exactly what that means: her two siblings will be coming home. Her older sister is a world-famous cellist and composer, and she's bringing her very special somepony to meet the family for the first time. Her younger sister has saved Equestria from certain doom no less than three times. Blinkie... manages rock farming finances (accounts payable). With so many things, business and private, stacking up on her plate at once, her only wish is to make it through this birthday in one piece.

You've definitely gotten me intrigued!

TAB

Well, there goes any chance for a good relationship between Vinyl and Blinkie. And with Pinkie coming, this could get very interesting.

1563901
What makes you say that? Pinkie Pie will be there to fix up the relationship in no time... :pinkiecrazy:

TAB

1564066 Yeah, fix... Pinkie can definitely 'fix' things between them.

Well, at least I'll get to laugh my ass off for the rest of the story :rainbowlaugh:

You have my interest. Please, continue.

...that's rough.

if unicon magic destroys gems then how does Rarity's talent work?

Top stuff so far and I'm going to be looking forward to more of it.

1566767

If I had to guess Rarity uses magic to find gems that are fully grown, while Vinyl using TK magic on still cultivating rocks makes them unable to produce gems in the future.

1566767
Stryke is correct. The rocks are only vulnerable during the growing process. Gems also occur naturally, rock farms are just one of the ways ponies have assumed control of their environment, like with the weather.

Well that was a wasted effort Vinyl! Also it's nice to see that Clyde and Rose aren't being potrayed as abusive or neglectful to Pinkie Pie.

Cool idea! Reader am intrige-ed :duck:
Fluffy fluffity fluff for Vinyl and Tavi? I like that. Muchly. I like that muchly.
...
You'll have to excuse me, I don't know where this is coming from either ... but I like your chapter

Pinkie.exe is not responding.

1568585
Aside from telling what I hope will be a fun story, that is one of my main goals writing this. Exploring a non-abusive Pie family is a huge motivation for me.
1584909
No excuses necessary. I'm confused by what "fluffy fluffity fluff" means, but as long as you like it, that's no problem!

(a)bort, (r)etry, f(ail)? :derpytongue2:

I think I like your Pinkie!

And I also like your Pie family. Just because you don't fit into the family business doesn't mean there is something wrong with the family.

1608941 Yeah and I like how they don't shun either Pinkie or Octavia for pursing different dreams and not working on the rock farm, rock farming isn't for everyone you know.

Also way to go Blinkie, you just had to tell Pinkie Pie to forget about the party this year, I mean do you have any idea how much thought she put into your present? :facehoof:

Pinkie just Blue Screen Of Death'd? :pinkiegasp: Hmmm... that is so Pinkie! :pinkiehappy: :rainbowlaugh:

L4

 tis interest me XD

cannot wait for more

A Pinkie BSOD?! :pinkiegasp: That's a first for me.

Who else but Pinkie would think to use a giant octopus in a musical number for her sister's birthday party...

Yay! Family Squabbles!

:derpyderp2:Blinky, ya done, broke Pinky

1761792 No one that's who. Pinkie Pie is one of a kind. :pinkiehappy:

“No I'm not. I'm an imaginary pile o' rocks.”

:pinkiegasp: :rainbowlaugh:

Great chapter. Rocktopus.

1608941
I'm glad you like the Pies here, especially Pinkie. To be honest, I don't usually like the way Pinkie is portrayed on the show, and I was worried that bias might hurt my depiction.

Pinkie is similar to my experiences with Windows 7. Very reliable, with a wide range of antics to choose from, but when things go wrong, they go wrong. :twilightoops:

1763601
Rocky was my favorite of Pinkie's "real friends." [Who you callin' a chump, chump?] I had to include him. :pinkiehappy:

I know things seem to be going in a very :pinkiecrazy: direction right now, but this story has a happy ending. I promise.

1764611
Thanks a lot! The rock puns have only just begun though.

Pinkie you are so random :pinkiehappy:

Wow. I am really sad to see this end. It was very well written and I empathized with the characters. You have captured my attention with this wonderful story. I hope you write more. Like really hope. If any of your other work is as good as this...

P.S. Have my eye.

I enjoyed this, and really empathized with Blinkie..

Sweet endings are sweet! :) Thanks a lot!

“Normal ponies are the most magical of all!”

I really, really liked that line. It's quite profound, coming from Pinkie.

1994929
This is quite a humbling comment. Thank you. :twilightsheepish: It will take me a while to finish the other story I have going, but once I do, I have a lot of ideas for slice of life stories like this one that I'd like to explore. I hope my writing will have improved further by then, so I can do them justice.

1995334
No, thank you. :-P

1996046
Awesome! I'm also proud of the followup to that, that whether you agree or not doesn't matter because dad said so. :-P

This was a great ending and I don't care what you say about how it isn't.

This was a great fic from start to finish. :pinkiehappy:

Pinkie Pie: Master of the Montage! :pinkiehappy:

I've enjoyed your take on Pinkie and her family (and Vinyl); I'm a little sad to see it end. I'll be sure to check out your other story!

1997078
:yay:

1998444
I actually like the ending, I just want to improve it one day. Thank you for the encouragement though!

2000254
Glad to hear it! Night Errantry is a very different beast from this story. It's much longer (and incomplete), it was started when I was even less experienced as a writer, and it's more of an epic adventure than a slice of life. I hope you enjoy it though, because I'm still pretty proud of much of it.

The ending was a little cheesy but i still liked the story alot. Really made pinkie shine and in character. Blinkie was cool in this and liked explanation of unicorn magic. You do a really good job describing things out that im surprised you dont have more likes:ajsmug: . Great job and hope more people find this little family story, its underrated:pinkiehappy:

Thanks for the kind comment  I don't advertise myself much, and my writing is still in a growing process (to pick a random example, I don't quite have it in me yet to produce a non-cheesy ending for this), but one day I will supplant one of the hundreds of human in Equestria video game crossovers and wind up in the feature box. That's my ambition. :raritystarry:

Ah, I really like this story! Nice to see the Pie parents shown in a more positive light, and Blinkie for all her standoffishness really intrigues me. And Pinkie's coming!: pinkiesmile: I mean, really, what could top that?

2885623
Wait until you see what Pinkie's bringing with her!

Wow, this was such an unexpected fine. Simply put I really loved it and thought you did an amazing job. I always enjoy seeing Octavia was a Pie, not enough people have that head canon. This might be the first time I've ever seen Pinkie's parents shown in a good light too. This was such a great read and will be added to my favs

3441669
Thank you! It still warms my heart when people stumble across this story, long after it's been finished.

While the sister in Pinkie's flashback is actually a different color from Octavia, so I wouldn't call it head-canon, I liked the idea so much in Silent Ponyville that I wanted to use it in a happier story anyway. Plus, having one of Blinkie's sisters in a stable, committed relationship was important thematically, since that's such a common source of sibling jealousy in real life. And I couldn't have the sister in such a relationship be Pinkie. :derpytongue2:

I love the story of this fanfic. The characters are well written and believable especially Blinkie Pie whom I really feel sympathetic to (the poor girl :fluttercry:). I also love the relationship between Octavia Pie and Vinyl Scratch during the four chapters. The emotions and comedy are all there and the feels aren't absent either.

This gets a thumbs up from me

3767215
That's fantastic! This comment also gets a thumbs up from me. I really sympathized with Blinkie as well, which is perhaps a little odd since I'm the oldest of only two children. Then again, I realized early on that I was writing her as nearly clinically anxious and depressed, which I have some experience with. Don't worry though, she's living a much better life now. In my head anyway. :pinkiecrazy:

I liked it. I probably felt most bad for Vinyl. Someone trying their best to help and make others happy, only to make it worse, always strikes me in the heart :fluttershyouch: I'm glad it ended well. I wonder what the future has in store for Blinkie, though.

Well. That was emotionally crushing. :fluttercry:
I think I'll need a minute before I can get to the next chapter...

Scrawled across the bulging, strained tarp which enveloped the entirety of its contents were the words "Blinkie Pie's Birthday Carty". She giggled every time she thought of the name.

I am a man, and therefore did not giggle when I read that. I chuckled. :pinkiehappy:

Great. Now I have the "Rocky" theme stuck in my head... :rainbowlaugh: Well played.:moustache:
