This story is a sequel to Working Girl Sunny

When they decided to start Anon-A-Miss, Apple Bloom and her friends believed they were delivering retribution to a nasty school bully. Sunset had been a cruel monster, and so she deserved some cruelty to be thrown at her.

But to their horror, their actions will have greater consequences than they could've ever imagined.

How will they cope with what they have done?

How will Sunset's friends cope with their guilt over having abandoned Sunset when she needed them the most?

This story is the fourth of the Sunset's Step series, my take on Sunset's redemption.

Chapters (3)

I would’ve liked Sunset’s fake death to go on longer or the build up to them “finding out” being extended.

But it is enjoyable so far!

Bravo! i liked this one more than the other.

Wait... what happened to Life is a Rollercoaster?

I liked both.... but this works even better and was more fun IMO.

more another a interesting anon-a-miss's story

Now this is how you tell an, "actions have consequences", story.

Erm...sorry, this is implausible for a number of reasons.

Firstly, a sting op to draw a confession out like that is not considered usable evidence in a case, as it was extracted using dishonest means.

Second, a policeman cannot just dish out community service orders. Only a judge or a magistrate can issue community service as a punishment if the subject is found guilty in a trial. The case has not gone to trial, and the CMC have not been found guilty of anything, ergo such an order cannot be imposed.

I always love how the cop tells these kids for being huge jerks that hurt everyone around them and for what revenge which doesn't get you far in the long run.

There were a handful of grammar errors, but still the concept was great. I still like the original as well, but this one was still great, and much better than most Anon A Miss fics on this site.

Good job! 🥂

I don't fully agree with forgiving someone the way Sunset suggested, because.
To forgive someone that person must ACTUALLY regret what they done and changed for the better.
Gild here changed and even confess to why she actted the way she did, but only after going through a lot.

How do we know some of the ones regret what they done or won't pretend to change and use it as means to backstab someone?
Also how much do you forgive, do you forgive them for everything they done from petty stuff to life ruining events?

I know this is pretty much the same thing as the old story, but I still prefer the old one a lot more.

11075421

They do mean it though is the thing and they're willing to put in the effort. The desire to do better and show they are more then who they once were? THAT is why they deserve forgiveness and why they deserve to move forward. It's what they should do and what they deserve.

11075636
Now are you talking about the Rainbooms or the ones they are going to try and forgive and such?
Because I was talking the other characters the Rainbooms are suppose to forgive and try to befriend.
Suri Puri Straw Berry, Fluer and so.

Gilda did change for the better, because she went through her own trails by fire and made it through.
What about the others?

But in the end it felt like if someone wronged you, you HAVE to forgive them and offer them another chance, no matter what they did to you.
That the message I felt was being said.

Dyy

11075986
Well I'm pretty sure that's not what the author intended. It's been made pretty clear that The Rainbooms forgiving them is to show they can let go of grudges and start anew, proving themselves worthy of Sunset's forgiveness in return. Rainbow's grudge towards Gilda probably isn't something that happened recently, and so if Rainbow did have a grudge towards her, it proves that there are things that they aren't willing to let go. And that's precisely what Sunset didn't want, she'd done horrible stuff before as well, and the Rainbooms only truly forgive her AFTER giving her a chance and hanging out with her. So if they can do that to Sunset, who had already done so much terrible stuff, why couldn't they do the same to people they hold grudges on?

11076236
I know but Sunset been trying to change and done a good job, Gilda as well, but yeah Rainbow didn't know that.
So in way she was taking a chance.

The other characters I no idea, remember one of them is Suri Puri, and you know what she done, and how she treats CoCo as a slave.
What if the human version is the same?

Also this is a revised version of the original one that was written, just way shorter.
There was a encounter withthe Dazzlings who acted they learned their lesson before revealing they didn't and laughed.
So what if they they lost their powers they had a back up plan oldes and oldes and odles of cash they had swindle, charmed, stolen over the centuries to live a LIFE STYLE OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS.

Even said if they wanted they could make Sunset disappear as she was alone, before laughing at her fear and misery and walked off.

I'm guessing be a new fate for them in this series.

Dyy

11076255
Well but that's not the point of that particular decision is it? The whole point is for them to let go of their grudge, and if the people they previously hold grudges on aren't worth forgiving, then so be it. But they have to show that they are willing to forgive and start anew first.

11072002

I would’ve liked Sunset’s fake death to go on longer or the build up to them “finding out” being extended.

But it is enjoyable so far!

I did consider that...but I felt its the kind of prank that should only go on for about a few minutes because it can spiral out of control and have consequences.

11073199

Erm...sorry, this is implausible for a number of reasons.

The implication I was going for was that the Officer was in the action, but this was not an official police sting.

The cop isn't playing judge and jury: Luna brought him in to make the CMC see how serious their actions are, but he isn't handing down an official judgment: just delivering punishment.

11076236

11076264

I don't think I wrote the story as Sunset giving them "blank check" forgiveness.

Sunset, as Gilda suggested, is giving them a task they need to do to earn their trust back, just as she had to earn her trust back with chores. Sunset knows they still care about her, considering they mourned her "murder."

11077576

It's her trust they have to earn back yes?

11078340

Yes.

And the story didn't end with them getting sudden forgiveness.

Despite what people say.

11078344

I figured that was the case from the get go.

Not to mention how suddenly it all ended: One minute, her friends were gushing over her getting to celebrate their first Christmas with her, and the next minute, they left her abandoned and crying in the hallway.

Talk about a very sad moment indeed. :fluttercry:

"SHIMMER! I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" Sunset pushed her weight against the door, but it was no match for the statuesque girl's strength. Gilda forced the door open and burst into the former unicorn's apartment, her face in a red-hot rage. "YOU'RE DEAD!" The white-haired girl fumed before letting out another wail. "I'm gonna kill you!"

She's toast! 😰

"Well, Darling," Sweetie Belle said, imitating Rarity's fancy speech. "They are not words a proper lady uses in public." All three friends laughed out loud.

Just hearing this makes me want to slap those three in their faces for what they did. :twilightangry2:

"Don't worry," Officer Garda muttered. "She's going right to jail."

Great, take her away officer.

Twinkle's expression got colder. "You're going to the morgue." The track runner suddenly pulled out a handgun and shot Gilda point-blank. She fell to the ground, dead, with a spot of crimson forming around her white shirt. The hallway descended into an even louder chorus of shrieks, crying, and whimpers as the two cops tackled Twinkle to the ground.

😨 He, he just killed her?!?!?!!?? Guess that death note was true alright. 😰

"Gotcha!" Sunset said with a smirk. Suddenly a not-dead Gilda sprung up from the ground, laughing her ass off as well. Twinkle was also cackling like a madman, as was Officer Garda. The entire student body stood in shock at what occurred while the CMC was still cold and motionless.

It. Was. A. Prank! I swear I almost had a heart attacking right now. (I didn't but the scene still shocked me).

"A slumber party," Officer Garda parroted to the Crusaders in a deceptively calm voice. Officer Garda, Luna, and the Crusaders were in the Vice Principal's office. The three sat on a couch. Vice Principal Luna sat silently behind her desk while Garda stood beside the woman. "That's what this is about?" The green-skinned man asked, taking a sip from a mug he was carrying. A very long and audible gulp. He then placed the mug on the desk with more force than necessary, causing a noise that made Apple Bloom and her friends flinch. "You three violated your sisters' privacy and violated the privacy of others because you got upset over not getting invited to a slumber party?" Luna's gaze was even sharper, driving the three girls to bow their heads in shame.

It's just f'd up if you ask me. :ajbemused:

"So your...strategy was to humiliate your sisters, humiliate everyone else, and get someone in trouble for something she didn't do." Luna's face was one of incredible disappointment. "That's how you chose to deal with your anger. By becoming as bad as Sunset used to be?" The three Crusaders felt tears go down their eyes.

Yep, that's exactly what they did Luna, and it has just made things worse. 😠

"Because revenge doesn't solve anything and makes you stupid." Garda's face turned red again. "And because you violated that, you three are in severe trouble!"

Yep, yes they are.

"Nope, is right." A nasty smile appeared on Garda's face. "What you three we'll be getting is some nice, long community service. Since Sunset had to do 100 hours of community service, you'll be doing 200 hours."

That's actually a good punishment ngl. :applejackunsure:

"I will also be notifying your parents," Luna said coldly, "and you will confess to what you did in front of the school tomorrow. And you will also go right up to Sunset and apologize to her. If she lets you." Luna finished with some bitterness, emphasizing how the three girls almost permanently drove Sunset from the school.

It's gonna be hard if you ask me. 😬

"I was here to drop your book off," Gilda shrieked, "and you nearly tore off my fingers!" Sunset looked and saw a book was in Gilda's right hand. Sunset realized it was her political science textbook and she left it there after running out of the school in tears. Gilda let out another wail, dropped the book, and held onto her left hand. Sunset saw Gilda's fingers were throbbing and realized Gilda wasn't yelling in a rage. She was yelling in pain.

That's why've she came, I thought she was gonna beat her help. Guess now but damn. :pinkiegasp:

Gilda looked at Sunset with utter disbelief before letting out an annoyed snort."I never thought you were Anon-A-Miss," Gilda muttered with disdain.

Well that's good. I guess... 🙄

Gilda let out an amused smile. "I think I made a great first impression."

Yes, yes you did. 😐

"Well, Spitfire did threaten to call the police on me," Gilda said, "but then she noticed how skinny I was. And then she saw how...bruised I was, and how I cringed when she mentioned my mom. She pretty much figured out my situation in about five minutes."

Impressive :ajsmug:

"Spitfire kicked her ass and made her cry," Gilda said with a viciously happy smile. "After that, the police took her away, and I never saw her again."

Damn. 😯

"Well, since you started taking a shower, not so much." Sunset started laughing like crazy. After a day of misery, her spirits felt lifted. "You did help me with my essays, and while your E-mail scam with Chips was messed up...without it, I wouldn't have dated him. So yeah, we're cool."

Thank goodness 😊

"Did you do that because you wanted too," Sunset asked with a serious look, "or did you do it because you felt you had to?" Sunset clenched her fists. "Let me tell you something. What you guys did to me was worse than what Gilda, Micro Chips, and everyone else did when I got back." The Rainbooms look confused. "Yeah, they were rough on me, but at least they didn't lie to me or pretend to be my friend. When you guys ditched me, it was like...Quick when he pretended to like me when he was plotting revenge." Sunset's friends, Applejack especially, were mortified by the comparison. Sunset began feeling tears fall down her eyes. "I'd rather have no friends than be around people who are gonna lie to me later."

She has a good point there you five girls broke and suffered the pain on what would become later om. :fluttercry:

"I want you to go up to these people and try and bury the hatchet with them," Sunset said. "Not just apologize. Make an effort to hang out with them."

That's actually not a bad idea when you really think about it. 🤔

"Again, if you still have lingering resentment toward me, your apologies and gifts and invitations are going to mean nothing because your gonna ditch me when things get rough again."That statement hurt the girls. "The only way to you can prove your sorry is if you can do the hard thing and bury your hatred with someone else." Sunset's expression softened. "I'm not saying you guys have to bend over backward to appease these people if they act rude to you. But here's what the Princess taught me: 'you can't be good when its convenient. You have to be good to everyone. Either everyone is happy, or no one is happy.' Thus, if you guys can't let go if your grudges against them then you won't be able to let go of your grudge against me. If you can do that, then it shows me you won't let your grudges consume you anymore, and I can feel comfortable hanging out with you again."

She's right. :fluttershysad:

"Also, I want us to take a break." Her friends looked confused. "Look, it isn't what you think it means. I realize I can't keep relying on you guys, and I need to make my own friends. For a month, I want time to meet new people, OK?"

Didn't see that one coming but at the same time I think it's a good thing for sunset to do. 😊

Apple Bloom and her friends dug a new flower bed while Officer Garda supervised. They worked for hours, getting covered in sweat and dirt. Officer Garda watched this while sitting under an umbrella, sipping lemonade, and reading a book on ancient torture techniques.

That's a thing, a book on torture techniques? :unsuresweetie:

"The Did Stupid Things Club," Sunset remarked with an odd smile. "To qualify, you have to do a foolish thing. Once you get in, your activities include back-breaking labor, being grounded, and having everyone distrust you." Sunset's expression softened. "But there is another part of this club: forgiveness and getting a second chance."

Interesting :applejackunsure:

You've completely missed the point I was trying to make; Garda cannot hand out a community service punishment as the CMC have not been convicted of anything. Only a judge or a magistrate can issue such a punishment in response to a guilty verdict from a jury.

11081183

I never said he was acting as a magistrate.

He has given them a punishment on behalf of the school, not the government.

This story feels familiar. Did you take it down and recently repost it here?

11085143

Yes. I realized it could do better and so I republished it.

11075421
Personally if you say sorry and do your best to make things right then the rest is up to the person you hurt. She tried to be better than she was not that they were giving her a full chance considering they were always kinda leaving her on the sidelines and giving her a hard time over the she demon incident.

This was more streamlined then the old story.

"let me ask you a question. Did Sunset stop you from paying her a visit in juvie?" Rainbow Dash asked Bon Bon. Bon Bon was stunned by the question.

"What?"

"Did Sunset prevent you from visiting Muharib?" Rainbow Dash asked, crossing her arms. Bon Bon couldn't really answer.

"Well, why would I? I thought she was a criminal," Bon Bon replied. Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and turned to glare at Bon Bon.

"Ever heard of something called loyalty?" Rainbow Dash said. "Loyalty means sticking by someone no matter how hard it gets. Even if Murahib had been guilty, even if Murahib did actually stab someone, a real friend would've stuck by her and made sure she got better. Sunset may have gotten Murahib arrested, but YOU CHOSE TO ABANDON HER!" Bon Bon's pompous expression fell into one of shame.

"And do you know why you did that?" Rainbow said in a quiet voice. "For the same reason you accused me of pushing Blossomworth off the ledge, for the same reason you spread a rumor that Sunset paid my friends into sitting next to her, for the same reason your putting her down now. You're a lazy, selfish, stupid, brat!" Bon Bon's face fell even further. "You may not be a supervillain, but your not a good person, because you'll do what's only good for you." Rainbow took a deep breath.

"You know why I hated Sunset," Rainbow said in a calm voice. "Because she tricked me into hating Fluttershy. And because of that, I let Sunset bully and pick on Fluttershy all the time. But if I were a good person, I would've defended her anyways. I would've stepped in, and pushed Sunset away. Maybe its Sunset's fault for making me hate Fluttershy, but I chose to abandon her in her time of need. No good person does that." Fluttershy put a warm shoulder on her arm.

"Sunset did horrible things, but you know what? She stayed here to try and make amends. She could've transferred to another school, or skipped town, but she stayed to make things rights, even when people were throwing things at her, and calling her names." Bon Bon looked down shamefully, and rubbed her arm. "Would any of you have the guts to do that? No." She took another deep breath.

"And you know what else? Quick is a better person than you." Bon Bon looked even more stunned and ashamed. "Yeah, what he did was beyond messed up. And I'm still angry at him for what he did to Applejack, but he was at least trying to help his friend in his own way. That's more than I've seen from you," she said to a forlorn Bon Bon, "or any of you," she said, yelling to entire assembled crowd.

"The easy thing would be to ditch him for the horrible things he did. But you know what? I'm not gonna ditch him. I'm gonna help him, and so are Sprint and Twinkle," she said, looking happily toward the two track team captains, who looked at everyone else in defiance. "Twinkle has every reason to hate Quick, but he's not gonna abandon someone he considers a little brother."

"And if you think Sunset should leave, maybe I should too," Rainbow Dash said in quiet, but firm voice. "Because of what happened to Blossomworth, I should be hated for the rest of my life? Right. If your gonna treat Sunset that way, treat me that way." The whole crowd went silent. "But your not gonna treat me that way. Not because is the right thing to do, but because I'm useful to you. You love me only when I win championships. That's not being good, that's just caring about yourselves."

She took another deep breath, before continuing.

"I'm not saying you all don't have a right to mad at Sunset," Rainbow Dash said. "I'm not saying you have to be her friend. But you try to push her around, don't ever think any of you are good. The reason why you're hurting Sunset is because your lazy idiots who'll do only what's easy. Because any idiot can hold a grudge. Any idiot can kick someone when their down. But being nice to someone, even when its hard, is the bravest thing ever. And I've seen more of that from Sunset, my friends, Princess Twilight, the track team, and Quick than the rest of you combined."

I’m surprised that there wasn't a scene of Bon-Bon calling RD a hypocrite. Cause I mean wow! Rainbow gives this amazing speech about loyalty and not abandoning your friend when they done something wrong and not long after that, she straight up abandoned Sunset just like that, and the rest of the girls followed.

You would think after what happened with Quick, they would have considered the possibility of Sunset being framed, but nope. I mean seriously, Quick hurt AJ so bad that he tramautize her, and RD still wanted to be his friend. She believed Sunset was the one posted AJ’s nickname and abandons her instantly.

I really wish there was a scene of Bon Bon talking to RD. Rainbow talk big to her for abandoning her friend, who was believed to have committed attempted murder and She goes and do the exact same thing but on a
weaker and lesser scale.

Truly the worlds biggest hypocrite.

Just to remember, two wrongs don't make a right and that's an existing phrase with a LOT of meaning behind it.

Pretty good, though wish there had been some added scenes of showing Applejack trying to make amends with Strawberry Sunrise (I assume their conflict came from Strawberry badmouthing her family's apples), Rarity with Suri Polomare (granted they're still on opposite teams in Friendship Games but still), and Fluttershy with Fleur de Lis (wonder what she did considering her lack of history with Fluttershy in the pony counterparts the same way Strawberry has with Applejack, Suri with Rarity, and Gilda with Rainbow Dash).
