After many years of Twilight being on the throne and leading Equestria, Spike has been no stranger to celebrating Hearth's Warming. However, this year Hearth's Warming feels different for him. As he contemplates what exactly is different, Shining Armor listens. And gives him the answer to his question.

tHIS WAS ADORABLE

Fully and truly, thank you, Flutterpriest. I asked for "Spike and Shining Armor doing a bit of brotherly bonding," and that is precisely what you delivered. And especially considering that you didn't have a month to work on it and had it dropped in your lap, I couldn't be more pleased by the end product.

Merry Christmas, my dude. Stay awesome!

it is in australia ;)

A good holiday story. You captured the voices of both an older Spike and an older Shining Armor very well.

This does a fantastic job of capturing the feelings of both age sneaking up on you and confiding in an older sibling. There isn't nearly enough of these two interacting as family without Twilight dragging the spotlight toward her. (She can't help it. It's the protagonist gravity well.) Thanks for a wonderful moment between them, and merry Jinglemas.

Nice to see Shining Armor being the voice of wisdom and experience.

Merry Jinglemas and happy Hearth's Warming, everyone!

Dawwwwh.
This was very heartfelt and heartwarming. It is simply amazing how you could convey such genuine and deep emotional connections between these two in such a short amount of time. Kudos. Keep being awesome. <3

Shining and Spike are always adorable to see together

I say this every time, but scenes like this are what the show really missed. I'll never understand why the crew was so viciously against showing Spike as part of the Sparkle family. This was adorable!

When adults can be a kid again

As a couple of other users have already said, this was nice and sweet. That the show never really did this, as the side result of Spike's role in the Sparkle family not getting touched upon at all in "A Canterlot Wedding", and Shining Armor basically getting no personal interaction with Twilight or the rest of his family bar Cadence from then on, makes it all the starker. Okay, there was "Once Upon A Zeppelin", but as Spike nobly stayed behind to manage the paperwork, that doesn't count. It took an episode by the new staff, and one written by committee, no less, to get something a confirmation of Spike's role in the Sparkle family history (that's not a dig, given "Sparkle's Seven is one of the few worthwhile episodes in Season 9, and honestly a good one).

Anyway, well-captured character voices, a little reminiscing and looking to the future's promises, all wrapped up in a nice little 1.4K-word package that suits the fact that very little incident actually happens in it. Sometimes well-written fluff is all we really need.

Thanks both for this and for your role in running Jinglemas 2020!

Sadly relatable, but adorable nevertheless... Well done.
