Twilight sends Spike to the Crystal Empire for a few days so she can concentrate on some official business. When Spike arrives, Cadence is too busy to really spend any quality time with the dragon. The only pony that seems to have the time for him is Shining Armor.
To keep Spike occupied, Shining spends the day with him, walking, talking, and just hanging out with him. Even when he does have to work, he takes Spike with him and makes him an honorary Royal Guard for the day.
Let's just hope that Spike won't let it go to his head...

There are far too few stories with Shining/Spike broshipping
High quality bromance fics are hard to come by in this fandom, especially when it comes to Spike. Shining Armor in non-romance stories that don't involve Twilight directly are practically nonexistent.

3604523 Not at all! I'm a wicked little troll who pokes fun even at the stories I happen to like! In fact, the more I teasingly poke a story in the ribs, the more I like it. It generally means I'm paying close attention to what's going on and find myself internalizing every line, which then gives rise to many silly thoughts and scenarios, especially when the story is already a comedy.
The stories I don't like are treated VERY differently... I shred them mercilessly in scathing reviews not unlike Mr. Plinkett's critiques of the Star Wars prequels.
Some stories are touching enough that even my shrivelled, cynical heart begins to beat again and a dusty tear creaks out of my withered lacrimal ducts.
Some stories have villains clever and loathesome, with enrage the righteous fury of Sekhmet, She Before Whom All Evil Trembles, within me! Against those foul devils rides forth Lord Alondro, the Deus Ex Insert, the most powerful god-moded White Knight in the omniverse!
And there are also 'meh' stories which are just sort of... there, not very good but not very bad, and nothing much stands out writing-wise. They don't really warrent a reaction either way.
