I will say it's kind of odd to see them discussing real life figures, and it does at times feel more like an essay than a discussion between characters, but this was a fun story. It's nice that you provided a no-picture version too.

This is literally my understanding of what "Socratic debate" is supposed to mean, an essay that uses the format of a debate in order to cover both sides. At least, that's what most of Plato's Socratic dialogues are in practice.

Not to mention the one comment contemptuously addressing “LGBT self-affirmation” has a close ratio of upvotes and downvotes, and then there’s the disproportionate number of downvotes this story has gotten. Probably just a coincidence that most of the other stories submitted to the pride event have gotten similar treatment.
