After a mirror portal field trip being conducted by Luna goes terribly wrong, Ocellus finds herself trapped in a strange palace far from home. That palace, once abandoned, is now infested with a hive of love-starved changelings intent on using her only way home as a means to invade her world.
Otherwise, Ocellus appears to be alone.

The story is inspired by, and a homage to, my favorite game of the last decade. However, this story is neither a crossover nor AU. This story is set after "The End of the End" (but before "The Last Problem"), and is purely a My Little Pony story. Well, we see in the show canon that there are individuals, but are soundly rejected by the changeling proper. We can assume from this that they do, if fact, have individual desire but individually chose to be like each other.

Indeed, although it should be noted that the lack of individuality is less to do with being a mimic and more to do with having formerly been one of the working cogs in a totalitarian regime which was designed to crush individuality out of any that were not the chosen leader. The lack of a definitive form lends to the identity crisis certainly, but an individual identity is far more than just a pattern of behaviors and a given appearance.

The present-tense narration might take a bit to get used to, but I'm really liking where this is starting.
When the show had the little bit of Ocellus transforming in a meeting with Starlight and the brief comment about confusion over personal identity, I'd really hoped to see more on the subject later on, so it's pretty cool to see a story touching on the subject

Full Disclaimer: I haven't watched any MLP episodes featuring the Student Six (I should find the time to do it though).
A pretty trippy introduction that starts off with Ocellus' POV of the season six finale, and ending with her running through a hallway of mirrors, each one showing her to be something that isn't her, and end with Ocellus having an existential crisis that I'm guessing can be summed up with "Ocellus thinks she is everything, but is simultaneously nothing. Ocellus has no identity!"
The prose is short and simple, yet also gives off a sort of 'alien' feel of what being a changeling is like, and I'm a huge fan of that. It's still rather early, but it looks interesting so far.

I haven't read it yet but appears to be based of the rebooted game Prey (not that the reboot version has anything to do with the original Prey it's arguably held back by being associated with the original) The game has a similar concept to alien though I guess. Same concept, different aliens, themes, and scale.

As cliché as it would've been, I'd have loved if Ocellus had been Chrysalis in disguise during seasons 8 & 9, slowly planting innocuous seeds of doubt in the minds of ponies about one another throughout Equestria during the school lessons which culminated in Equestria tearing itself apart due to paranoia when Grogar revealed himself to the world
