Kind of Brony

Well, I'm not much of a brony as I don't like the show, but I greatly respect the fans and their work. I often wish the fanbase of some other franchises were as talented and ambitious as the bronies.

Rainbow Dash has always been an incredible fighter, the best in Canterlot High and the region, but when a new student shows up, she struggles to keep the title. Even more surprising, however, is that the student is a boy.
Anonymous is different than every guy Dash has ever met. Strong, confident, and more than capable of handling himself, it's no wonder Canterlot High's star athlete has taken an interest in him. When he shows her just how strong he is, however, it shakes Rainbow Dash to her very core.
With a desire to reclaim her title, Dash throws everything she has into defeating Anon, wanting to prove her strength and earn Anon's respect. Yes, his respect, and nothing more...

You missed a couple > signs when converting this from greentext form. Might want to ctrl-f and find them. Also I'd suggest doing a quick your/you're and there/their/they're check, a free of those were also off.

All we need now is that the guy turns into a girl whenever cold water is dropped on him.

That was a good story. If you get the spelling and grammar fixed, it could be a great story.

Good story, good pacing, solid writing... Although I question why Anon puts up with Rainbow Dash. She's fucking insufferable in this story.

Got a few more fixed. If you see any specific examples that were really glaring, don't hesitate to tell me.

Manga was better than the anime. For Inuyasha, I'd say the opposite.

8764347
That sounds hilarious I need to know what that is

What does RGR mean?

dat ending.

I would love a sequel

I love this story! Would love to hear more about this guy or even the universe involved.

While the egg head in question is outraged, even while collecting her book bag hurriedly, the rest of the girls slowly file out of the room, except for Pinkie Pie. "So, like, we're just kinda putting the fact that we have magic mumbo-jumbo healing powers on the back burner?" she calls after them. "What if it can cure cancer...? No? Yeah, you're right, boys come first."

:facehoof: I am surprised even as as I am laughing.

After reading: excellent story. A few minor errors but It kept me entertained and wanting for more. I also like the stereotype switch. I have read a few stories where such was the norm but none were this... aggressive; and I am greatly amused. After all I have seen I would most definitely read a sequel, should one be made. This is a diamond in the rough just waiting to be unearthed.

At first you had my curiosity, now you have my attention. The question now is... What do you plan to do with it.

That was great!

Everything was nicely balanced, and the ending was brilliant!

"Ah, don't be so hard on your friend's, Dash," you chide jokingly. "You're gonna need them to carry you out of here once I knock you unconscious."

I love their banter. This fic keeps rolling the way it is, and it'll end up in my favorites.

And, there it goes!

Ranma 1/2
It's a romantic-comedy series. The main male character is training in martial arts by his father and at one point both of them fall into separate cursed springs. Ranma becomes a red-haired girl, and his father a giant panda every time they get splashed with cold water. Warm water returns them to normal. At the start of the show Ranma's father informs Ranma that he has arranged a marriage for his son to one, Akane Tendo, neither or whom are happy about the arrangement and seem to utterly detest one another. Several other characters are added in from time to time, including Ryoga who has no sense of direction at all and frequently gets lost, A Chinese girl named Shampoo who is just as tough as Ranma, a man called The Casino King who cheats at gambling, and a barrel full of other weird monkeys. Here, I'll drop you off at episode 1: https://ww5.gogoanime.io/ranma-12-episode-1

The series can seem a bit slow at times (which is why I prefer the manga as it skips most of the unnecessary crud), but overall it isn't bad. Ranma 1/2 is made by the same person who wrote Inuyasha, and as a result, some of the characters look similar to one another.

This series has a LOT of episodes.

I don't know what it stands for, but it basically means that the social roles of males and females are reversed. For example, in classic-age years it would be the man who stays at home and cares for the kids while the wife is the bread-winner, soldiers in the army all or mostly would have been female, the legendary Amazon Warriors would have been men, the emperor of Rome would have been an Empress instead, Joan of Arc would have been Job of Arc, and so on.

This was some good RGRE right here, even now, Anon can realize further that Caramel's smiling parents might mean they thought he was gay too :rainbowlaugh:

A strong, feminine male, doing things for their boy... yeah, makes sense

Reverse Gender Role Equestria (girls)

8767795
Kids these days not knowing the classics.
Back in my day.....mumble mumble...

Everyone stares, red faces all around as Twilight whispers "That's hot," and Fluttershy nods meekly in agreement, a trail of blood leaking from her nose.

Oh my god, perfect ending! :rainbowlaugh:

I haven't been around /mlp/ for a long time, but i think i still have it in me to call you a good writefriend :raritywink:

Please write more of this sometime! It was supremely enjoyable.

I read all the greens and I love the final product. I'm glad you went with the title suggestion. I agree with the commenters asking for more. It's a good story deserving continuation. Thanks KoB and keep up the good work.

8769078
I disagree. It adds an underlying tension and motive on RD's part that makes it less superficial had the RGRE themes not been there.

Also, poly romance between RD, Caramel, and Anon when?

Also also, "principle" should be Principal in the case of Celestia

8770282
True, but there is external pressure put on her as well due to the RGRE verse, and that displays itself as a factor in her decisions and motivation.

Sequel? 🙏

Something weird I've noted while reading this about RGRE. The whole reversed gender roles pans out fine, and in fact it's something I seem to enjoy reading considering my more recent choice of material. But something stuck out to me. While the guys apparently act like girls, and the girls act like guys towards girls... they still kind of act like girls. Interest in fashion, talk of boys, etc. Mind you, I'm aware that some men in regular society do talk like that, and this is a rather small sample size to base off the world, but it still stuck out to me.

Yes, Twilight and Fluttershy getting nosebleeds from the thought of Anon and Caramel being gay sounds something like the way two guys would react to two girls being gay, but at the same time I've seen girls do that to yaoi guys so... it kind of renders that "difference" moot. But the Mane 6 and Sunset seem to act like girls for the most part in this story rather than guys, which I wouldn't think would be the case considering the universe in question (Minus Rainbow, but she's always been on the border between the two sexes, personality wise).

And then there's Caramel. I'm... honestly unsure how to view that interaction between him and Anon. I can't tell if it's meant to portray the reversed lesbianism with one of the two being the stereotypical "butch" with more physical strength than a member of their sex normally is seen possessing, or if it's literally just a gay guy acting more feminine than you'd expect because of the universe and how guys supposedly act there.

You bark a quick laugh. "That so? Huh, didn't realize I was a hundred-twenty pound girl with a gay pride flag for hair."

Ohhhhhh Burn!!!! :rainbowlaugh:

Amazing story!

This is a really good story.

Insecure Dash +revolved gender roles+ superior male rival=ROMANCE.

I don't think this scenario can be seen as "reversed lesbian." It is more like...a reversal of gender roles in how one expresses attraction.

The norm of our society is this: guys are forward, but girls are bashful. A man is supposed to be the one who asks a woman out. In the RGRE world, Dash is the one who does the asking.

In our world, women tend to communicate their attraction to a guy in a more subtle way. You see this in the story.

The two of you live only a few houses apart and have walked home together a few times. As a result, the string bean has made a bit of a habit of asking you for help, usually with stuff requiring muscle. The first time was your doing when you noticed him hunched under the weight of his own over-stuffed backpack and offered to carry it for him, but since then, he's asked you to do things like yard work and lifting heavy packages dropped off in the mail.

One time he even asked you to help rearrange the furniture in his living room while continuously offering you beverages and snacks. It was kinda strange, but it was also a free meal and he paid you ten bucks for the labor. His parents are pretty chill too and always smile at you when they see you out and about.

One of the signs of a woman being attracted to you is when they make you a handyman. If they ask you for help a few times, it isn't anything serious. If they ask you for help numerous times and offer you snacks, then it becomes clear they may also enjoy your company and not just the work.

You're pulled from your musings when you feel his smaller, softer hand wraps around yours. "I'm just worried for you, I guess," he says, rubbing a thumb over your knuckles and looking up into your eyes. "You know I'll be there for you, Anon, if you ever need me to be."

Grabbing your hands is also a sign of feminine attraction.

In an RGRE world, Caramel's subtle way of expression attraction is probably what guys do to girls. Since Anon's character is considered "feminine", it means Caramel treats him like a girl.

One of my favorite RGRE stories in a very long while. Something about Dash being the best fighter around, getting put in her place suddenly, then trying to gain Anon's respect so she can ask him out is just incredibly in character and unholy amounts of cute. I really liked how she couldn't help but get a little hot under the collar after fighting him too, and Caramel's little sweetsy nature getting attracted to Anon's Janefilly nature was really fun to read.

There's just a lot of details I loved about this one and I wish there was more. This was one of those stories for me where I was enjoying and despairing when I saw I was already halfway through the thing.

I want a sequel, this was amazing :D

This needs a sequel, I also really like the idea of a society where men are looked down upon. It seems like an interesting philosophical subject.

As you walk away, you can't help but look back on the last few months and the utter oddity that your life has become. Then you freeze in your tracks. "Holy shit! Caramel is gay for me!" you blurt out as the realization hits you like a ninja freight train.

Interesting

Very nice story, well worth the read. Still, there are a few minor things you may wish to edit.

"Uh, yeah, I do, I've only been practicing karate for, like, thirteen year," Dash said with an eye roll.

That should probably be a plural.

the monumental effort it took to speak just that is clear in her voice, and your expression hardens.

That needs to be capitalized.

You want an uppercut like Anon got?" Rainbow threatens.

And you're missing a quotation mark there.

Overall, really enjoyed this and hope it gets a sequel.

This is an awesome story.

Pfft, boys are not good fighters my ass. Ever heard of a Norse Berserker? Massive strength boost, so consumed by bloodlust that no self-awareness and thus impervious to pain, never gets tired, ect.? No matter how skilled an opponent is, all someone like me-whose every trait is identical in battle to what those warriors of old have-has to do is tank, shrug off anything thrown at me (broken bones, arm blown off, ect.), and keep mindlessly attacking until they wear themselves out. Then it's game over for my opponent. Broken bones or loss of limbs aren't necessarily because people like me don't have pain sensors, but rather we are so far mentally gone that we wouldn't even realize that our bones were broken or our limbs were blown off and would just keep swinging away, completely oblivious. Hell, getting a limb blown off just gives us another weapon in the form of the bone shard from our missing limb for stabbing. Those handful of us in the world are probably better fighters than anyone-both guys AND girls-because of that alone, regardless of our opposition's skill, number, and/or size. Though it's not exactly a good idea for a sparring match. It's uncontrollable, as awareness of both one's surroundings and self-awareness (as mentioned earlier) are non-existent. The only thing one of those like me know when like that is the all-consuming desire to cause as much pain, suffering, and death to our opponent(s). So unless I'm actually wanting to either hideously maim or kill someone, then it shouldn't have any other uses.

This is rgre that's why they said that this isn't suppose to be like irl its called reversed gender roles bro.

10757215
THAT'S what RGRE is short for? ...Huh, neat. The more you know, I guess.

10757295
Yeah its an interesting concept and a pretty good plot point if done correctly for example this story does it pretty well

"I do," Sunset blurts. "Because this means Anon was telling the truth, and I called him a hussy in front of a bunch of other students! My mom will kill me if she ever finds out!"

Isn't your mom in equestria where she will never find out...?

Get fucked, asswipe. It's people like you who I love beating the crap out of in person. Your kind usually keep your mouths shut after that. I've yet to meet anyone whose ever stood a chance against me, and you're no different.
