The Ponyville school is putting on this year's Hearth Warming play, and Diamond Tiara has given the Cutie Mark Crusaders their roles. Sweetie Belle seems happy enough working backstage, but Scootaloo doesn't like it one bit. She's no turkey! And who's ever heard of a Hearth's Warming turkey, anyway?

But as Pinkie Pie explains, the Hearth's Warming Turkey played a crucial role in the founding of Equestria - and rock farming.

Thanks!

Your user name amuses me thoroughly.

Scootaloo shook her head. “Wow. Cheerilee never taught us about that in history class.”

“That’s because they act like ponies did everything. You’d never believe some of the stuff they leave out about the buffalo. Not to mention the breezies!”

Just like how people complain about American education that "Americans did everything good". Although I don't accept it to be that case.

Excellent little piece.

One thing:

Clover hadn’t realized that turkeys could fly,

Should it be Smart Cookie?

Freaking unicorns, trying to take all the credit for hard-working earth ponies.

Fixed. :trollestia:

Glad you liked it!

I swear, as a tutor, I've seen this as a kids book before.

6838861
Really? Huh.

Maybe I have tapped into the collective unconscious and made everyone think they've read this before.

The turkey tried again, gobbling slower and more loudly, but sadly, Smart Cookie still wasn’t Fluttershy.

:rainbowlaugh: That is some pitch-perfect Pinkie Pie right there.

An enjoyable romp with Pinkie at her very best. Thank you for putting out on its own, TD. Especially since I still haven't read most of the Jinglemas collection. :twilightsheepish:

Thanks! I really need to write more stories about Pinkie Pie; she's a fun character to write for, and I'm glad I hit her voice right.

And don't worry, you're not the only one who hasn't read most of the Jinglemas stories. :twilightoops:

You stole my avatar? :derpytongue2:

6839698
Are you saying you're a turkey? :trixieshiftright:

6839768
W/r to you, I live more in the East, but not that much! :derpytongue2:

This was silly. I liked it!

Thanks! I'm glad you found it amusing.

Clearly I need to write more fauxlore.

So was the rock the turkey showed them actually salt, or is it just one of those weird Equestria things?

I'll like it: had some moments. Just not the kick or twitch to be intense.

Lots of deadpans, nor sharp nor cutting, but it was nice.

A nice, raw, gently-steamed topiary hat.

Dude, first sentence! Come on!

The rest of the story was cute. Pinkie was very Pinkie. A nice, simple bit of fluff.

Had three editors too. :fluttercry: Fixed.

A nice, raw, gently-steamed topiary hat.

The best kind of hat.

Mmm, hats.

:facehoof: somepony slap Diamond Tiara across the face please.

Nice callback to the Cutie Mark Chronicles.

Really nice! I always like Equestrian folklore and quality Pinkie Pie, and this brings them together beautifully. Tiny error, though:

I didn’t know what to expect when Diamond Tiara asked me for a turkey costume for Scootaloo the play.

I'm guessing that's supposed to be "for Scootaloo for the play?" Ehh, there's probably a less awkward way to phrase that, though.

Unless the play is actually titled "Scootaloo: The Play", in which case Scootaloo has absolutely no room to complain about DT's casting choices.

Nice little take on the revisionist history of Equestria. I guess it doesn't help to have an immortal monarch with a stake in it. Not sure what to think about the remarks on the buffalo, though. They were on Equestrian land, after all. And they never objected to the trees being planted while they were being planted, or even bother to talk after the fact...

I dunno, that never made sense to me. But that's a remark on the show. Story's good; going on stage and dreading you'll be making a fool of yourself, especially the idea that someone got you in that mess on purpose, is a bad place to be.

Good thing there's a Pinkie Pie to get Scoots out

i think the rock was the same kind that Pinkie and Maud use in their rock candy in "Maud Pie"

“You look like you’re having a smile emergency! You know what that means?”

“Uh…”

“Cupcakes!”

And so Scoots allowed herself to be led into Pinkie Pie's basement where she commented, "Rainbow Dash? You're here too? Why are you strapped to a table made of bones and skin?" :pinkiecrazy:

Well, when one mare loves another mare...

Belated thank-you for the story gift!

Exactly what I was going for. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I loved it! :D Just a simple story but so funny and in-character. Favourited!.

Thanks! I actually wrote it as part of the Jinglemas celebration last year for Trick Question; her two favorite characters are Pinkie Pie and Scootaloo, so I was trying to come up with something for them.

I'm glad you liked it.

“What?” Pinkie Pie fluttered her eyes innocently.

Heh. I'm fairly certain I read a very similar line in another one of your works minutes ago. 'Course, now that I've noticed it twice (for no good reason), it's going to pop out even more if you've used it again somewhere else. It is a rather Pinkie Pie thing to do.

8081563
Hehe. Mistletrapped, maybe? I can believe I might have used it there somewhere. I'm not sure what other story it might have popped up in.

Admittedly I don't have nearly enough Pinkie Pie stories. Clearly I should write more of them.

I'm glad you've been reading my stuff, though. Knowing that someone actually caught something in another story means that they've looked at at least a few of them.

I hope you enjoy whatever you choose to read next!

Knowing that someone actually caught something in another story means that they've looked at at least a few of them.

Or that I simply happened to read, one after another, exactly the two stories of yours that definitely contain this line. :moustache: As it happens, the other was Dying to Get There:

“What?” Pinkie Pie blinked innocently.

I do tend to read stories as sorted by their author if I like enough of the ones I've read. There are at least a couple more of your stories interspersed within in my reading queue at this point, and after those, there's that ever-so-slight chance that I'll go and read everything you've written and published thus far. :twilightsheepish:

Ah, fair enough. Well, I hope you enjoy them, whichever you end up reading!

This very silly story is Featured in December for Rated 'E' for Everyone

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to feature it! I certainly thought it was a fun little thing to share, so I'm glad others are still reading it and enjoying it.

Incidentally, reading back through it again, I'm amused by my unintentional pear prediction with Apple Bloom.
