I was referencing Marville. One of the worst comic series ever made.
Long story short, it started as a parody comic (of pretty much everything, Seltzerberg style) and devolved into a pseudo-philosophical tract about the origins of life and humanity. The science and philosophy depicted in it can be charitably described as inaccurate at best and outright fabricated at first. To give you an idea, near the ends (when it TRIES to tackle the origins of mankind), it shows that humans evolved from otters and Wolverine was the first one. That's only the tip of the iceberg of insanity. And to top it all off, if the open letter at the end of the series is to be believed, the author is completely serious about all of this.

I like to differ. They don't bear any animalistic traits, otherwise than when the main cast ponies up through magic, their coloured tone could be representative of a link that connect them to their pony counterparts, but mostly it's just an artistic choice made from the creators of the movies that we can saw in other cartoons like Doug, but aren't antros nonetheless.
Darn it all! I was rooting for those sentinels to win...

Oh...not all that stupid, actually. On a scale from 1 to 10, maybe a 3-4 tops. I mean, they already had the sense to put the unconscious and unknown creature they found into chains until further notice and had a contingency plan in case it should get loose, too. They weren't prepared for specifically Wolverine, but then they presumably don't have Marvel comic books in Equestria to recognize him from and compared to a lot of other human super-types Logan doesn't really even look all that physically imposing -- fairly short for a human, claws concealed until he needs them, can't deduce too much about his personality while he's still out cold...
So the most I could blame them for is being somewhat overconfident considering what sorts of monsters Equestria itself already sports (how do they know he's not the next Tirek, for example?), not for not anticipating him in particular.
