A girl lost to the world beyond the mirror, her life unknown to all and her name remembered by only one.

A pony wandering amongst her books, a national hero and friend to many.

Both their lives will be tied together by a single book thought long since lost to time. Drawn in by tales of heroism and valor, of hatred and evil; the acts of great heroes and monsters. And at the centre of all of it? One girl, a name strangely familiar yet wholly foreign to her:

Sunset Shimmer.

A complete re-make of 'A New Arrivial, remade with a new focus, an entirely different story style, and the experience I've gotten from my other stories.

For she is now the Bearer of the Element of Magic, and ever since, trouble is knocking at her door seemingly every week: be it a monster attack, friendship drama, or the fact that Equestria seems to be sleepwalking from crisis to crisis, Twilight’s life will never be the same again.

FAQ
Q: If it’s not a harem romance, then why are the mane six and Luna genderswapped?

A: Because while it started as a deconstructive, character-driven take on one, we’ve realised that this character arrangement grants us far more creative freedom than what we would have using their canon incarnations.  Having M!Applejack, Rainbow Blitz, Elusive, Butterscotch and Phil Pie allows us to, essentially, make their characters our own, take them to uncharted waters, and introduce new plotlines and situations that haven’t been done previously and that just wouldn’t have worked if applied to the girls we all know and love. It’s, in a way, what keeps this story fresh, even when retelling the series for the umpteenth time. It mixes up their dynamics with other ponies and with each other in new, unseen ways, and makes it all the more interesting to explore.

Adding to this is the fact that Twilight, at the beginning of the series, is something of a blank slate, whose character development is informed by the quirks and personalities of her friends. Therefore, she functions both as her own, recognisable character and as an audience surrogate, who’s getting to know these guys at the same pace as the audience itself.

Funnily enough, Luna’s genderswap was never intended to have any relation whatsoever to the harem trope; Artemis was never supposed to be a Love Interest. Instead, well, let’s just say it fills in a certain, unaddressed headscratcher in the original series.

Q: Will there be shipping?

Yes, there will be romance. However, not only it will be what most people like to call a 'slow burn', but it's most definitely not the main focus of the story. If you're looking for a ship fic, you'll be disappointed.

Q: Is [character] genderswapped too?

No.

The only characters who are genderswapped are Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Luna. Everyone else is their canon gender. Trixie is female. Starlight Glimmer is female. Should she appear, Sunset Shimmer will be female.

Discord, on the other hand, is something of a grey area, as they're a literal God of Chaos. Therefore, just as they can do pretty much whatever they damn well please, they can also change genders at a whim. However, should Discord adopt a female gender, her name would still be Discord, rather than the fanon Eris, as the word 'Discord' is genderless.

Q: Why is male!Pinkie's name not the fanon Bubble Berry?

There's multiple reasons, all of which are stated point blank by the character himself during his introduction in chapter one. It's mostly for meta reasons, but there's some plot there, too.

Q: Will you do [episode]?

There is an overarching plot, and the selection of episodes that get adapted and the way they do heavily depends on how they contribute to set up or advance said plot, or how plausible they are given the differences between the canon characters and their genderswapped incarnations.

Therefore, many of your favourite episodes may end up happening in entirely different ways as they did in canon, be mixed up with another episode, be relegated to a mere mention, or maybe just not at all. It all depends on how they fit the bigger picture.

TUESDAY, APRIL 21 of 2020.
I may or may not have just broken my hand against my desk when I jumped in surprise when William Grey told me this story was on featured, literally MINUTES within uploading chapter 9.
I'm sorry, just...
What?!
Mind-blowing, man. I have no idea how the algorithms work, nor how long it will last, but we're very happy about it.
Seriously, we wish to thank wholeheartedly to anyone who has read it, who has liked it, who has commented. This is our first published story, among myriad we have written yet never had the courage to put them out there. It really means a lot to us that people are responding positively.
Plus, that means I can claim moral victory, because I absolutely spent my whole weekend writing this instead of preparing the ppt for my monograph's thesis proposal for tomorrow.
So, yeah.
Thank you <3

Starlight Glimmer told her friends that she was afraid to go back to her old town to celebrate the annual Sunset Festival. The Mane Six reassured her that she’s changed for the better, and that she wouldn’t have been invited if her old village had not believed she had reformed.

She decides to go with Trixie, but upon leaving, Twilight and the others were captured by Queen Chrysalis which made Starlight come back and get an unlikely team to save them!

But what if something else happened?

What if Starlight was too afraid to go to the festival that she didn’t leave? And what if Chrysalis and her changelings arrived at that same moment to invade Ponyville? How different would it might have been?

Well, actually, it would end up being a smart move for Starlight since she would stay and save her friends BEFORE they were captured. But what if that’s what happened instead?

An alternate ending to the season 6 closer, To Where and Back Again, and the second in my alternate ending series.

I can't remember my original name, but You can call me Sunset Shimmer. Everyone else does, ever since I got tossed up in this wierd mess. I don't remember too much about my old life either, outside of my calling being in engineering and computer technology, and my favorite thing otherwise being magic, which I thought was fictional back then. I was also human, I guess that's an important detail to mention. If you want to hear my story, well, read it aloud to yourself. Everything I can remember and then some should be written down here, so indulge yourself with knowing everything about my life.

I can't believe it, I'm finally trying my hand at story writing once again! Maybe it won't be a reputational disaster this time. I love constructive criticism, so feel free to file a complaint in the comments section, but if you do, at least try to explain what went wrong. I don't know how often I'll be updating this, I've got a lot of stuff coming up in my life, including but not limited to college, and my dedication can sometimes completely change focus on a whim. I've wanted to get back into writing for a while now, I just haven't had any good ideas to write on. Chances are I'm going to hit massive writer's block on this story and completely stop, similar to last time I wrote, but we'll have to wait and see.

And before I forget, compliments to user golden dawn for the base idea, in his/her story, "new life, new me". I have no creativity for this stuff, so when I saw such a great idea for a story, currently abandoned at two chapters and as-of-yet in serious need of extreme editing, I couldn't pass up the inspiration.

FEBRUARY 2022: It's been such a long time. I barely remember what I wrote for this story, beyond the base premise, along with being able to reread what I've published. I had a vague story arc planned out and saved in the form of excerpt notes, but even that got lost on a failed hard drive that I was unable to recover, along with many other projects both writing and otherwise.
If I ever get back to this writing project, and I honestly can't say if I ever will, at this point I might be better off starting over from scratch, with a similar premise but a fresh take, instead of trying to pick this back up from nothing.
My perspective has changed rather drastically over the years, as such my writing style has certainly followed suit, as I've noticed in the tone and nature of comments and content I've posted in years past, and the difference would be rather jarring without a complete rewrite; not to mention having to salvage what I've written of the existing story into what's essentially a new one, compared to my lost and forgotten plans from before.
To those whom have showed their appreciation of my past work, in both likes and comments, thank you. If not for the positive feedback, I'd be just as likely to mark this as another piece of personal history, to be forgotton as I've already moved on through multiple different chapters of my own life since.
It tells me that there were some things I did as a depressed high schooler with anger management issues was of immature origin, and that means a lot, as I'm still trying to put my past behind myself in that regard.
I know, this never made it to any frontpages, or got *too* much attention, but the support it did get still means the world to me.
Now, I'm gonna end this description update before I get too sappy or start repeating things.

"My name is Kelly Randell. I have been a fan of Kamen Rider since Double, and I sort of have a thing for hot villains... Ryoma being my favorite of the bunch. So it comes as no surprise that I come dressed up as him to Comicon."

'So... if the title and art says that she's becoming Gold Drive, why then does the description imply that she becomes Duke?'

"So then I met this guy who was selling a bunch of trinkets. He offered me the limited edition Lemon Lockseed that hadn't even been released yet... but then I saw the badass Banno Driver. I bought that instead. I think I made a good purchase...

That's what I would have thought had I not then experienced a Slowdown and ended up in a world where everyone's skin is colored differently, I ended up as a professor in a high school, and the Driver had become active. Yes. Banno's active. I'd be afraid, but right now I have other problems, like the local bully or Roidmudes randomly popping up everywhere. And don't get me started on that edgy Little Red Riding Hood cosplayer.

Basic gist: High School sucks. As always."

An Equestria Girls Displaced fanfic crossing over with Kamen Rider (Specifically Kamen Rider Drive) and RWBY. Image by Egophalic. Character tags may change depending on how important they are. The story is split into several six-chapter arcs. Each will be revealed in time.

Arc 1 (Chapters 1-6): The Golden Drive Arc, the beginning arc for this fanfic in which Kelly adjusts to both the new world and her powers as Gold Drive, and how she's not the only Displaced in this world.
Arc 2 (Chapters 8-14): The Shimmering Sunset Arc, in which Kelly learns about being a Displaced, her place in the universe she had been thrown into, and how there's a threat that could be bigger than she could ever imagine.
Arc 3 (Chapters 15-??): The Dazzling Adagio Arc, in which Kelly ends up having to face both the Roidmudes and the Dark Swan at the same time, and how she ends up receiving help from the most unlikely of allies.

NO LONGER BEING UPDATED! Stories will continue in Past Conditional!

Present Perfect's Award-Winning Platefic, aka The Zebra Manuscript, aka "Where Do Fillies Come From?" (Beyond Random): There is really no explanation for this.

The Nether Apple (Dark, Human): I once ran a Tumblr called Ask the Nether Apple, with all of two posts, a spinoff of the better Ask the Derpmuffin. I wanted to post the introduction story here for posterity. Not pony-related, and knowledge of Ask the Derpmuffin is recommended.

It Was a Bright and Sunny Day in Ponyville (Random, Adventure): An exercise in mocking purple prose and the 'weather report' opening. It is a single, grammatically correct sentence that takes 500 words to accomplish what happens in the title.

Twilight's Guts (Dark, Random): Twilight awakens covered in her own entrails. How did that happen?

The 6th Step (Human): I overcome my fear of heights with the help of some friendly ponies in my head. A true story.

Movin' on Up (Random): The walls start shakin', the earth is quakin', Dr. Whooves' mind is achin' and what the bloody hell is actually going on?

A Very Nasty Habit (Random): Chrysalis is confronted by a Councillor worried about her health. How did changelings get those holes in their legs, anyway?

The Call of Carrothulhu (Dark, Crossover): Carrot Top's garden hides many wonders, but some were never meant to be pulled from the earth.

Blue, Green, Purple, Pink (Dark): My mane is lovely, don't you think? So many colors, swirling, never ending, constantly shifting, always in my field of vision. Help.

Waiting for Rarity (Sad): Rarity is off pursuing her dreams. What does this mean for her friends?

War Comes to Equestria (Dark): Celestia has spent countless lifetimes honing Equestria into a peaceful haven for her little ponies. So when an ambassador from the griffins casually speaks of war, it is understandable that she might become a tad... peeved. Inspired by The Descendent's excellent story "A Cup of Joe". Somehow.

The Lamentation Chain (Sad, Random): Five souls find themselves caught in a common thread of sadness and longing on the eve of the new year.

The Heart Holds Grudges With Gravity (Random, Crossover): Applejack and Rarity have had a long-standing feud since before Twilight even knew them. The time has finally come to settle the score.

Burdens of the Throne (Random): The Princess of Love was angry...

The Summer of the Giant Moth (Random): When a giant moth roosts on Applejack's barn, she learns to appreciate the things we have or something, I dunno. Contains the phrase "tremendous death fart". More than once.

Rusty in the Giddyup (Comedy, Romance): Notably uptight noblepony Persnickety finally meets the mare of his dreams. But she's not exactly what she seems to be...

A Chance Encounter on Route 66 (Slice of Life): After a breakdown in the middle of nowhere leaves her stranded, help comes to Wild Fire straight out of a past she wanted to forget.

Pareidoilia, or the Importance of Crochet (Sad, Slice of Life): Pinkie Pie tells her granddaughter about the five greatest ponies she ever knew.

Somepony Still Loves You, Trixie Lulamoon (Human): I end up in Equestria, which is weird, because Equestria isn't real, I'm not a pony, and I didn't really want to come here in the first place. Also, the ponies are dicks. Don't go to Equestria, kids, it sucks.

No Jobs Tonight (Human, Sad): My name is PinkPartyPony and I live in a Corrugated with my best friend Pinkie Pie. I'll tell you about her and me and what we do together and my Box Friends and strawberries.

Handy-Dandy (Random): Flying around at the speed of sound one day, who should Rainbow Dash run into but the Great and Powerful Trixie? But little did she expect, the unicorn has a revelation that will blow her mind!

Mowe (Dark, Comedy): Applejack was a fat baby, and her parents are dead.

Bat for Lashes (Adventure): Roughing it does not mean bringing an eyelash curler, at least not to Applejack. After all, it's not like she'll ever find herself embroiled in an eyelash-curling emergency out in the wilderness... Right?

Rainbow Dash Gets a Big Ball of Lame Stuck in Her Throat (Comedy, Random): And it kind of sucks!

No Harm, No Waterfowl (Comedy, Random): Beaten, humiliated and humbled, Trixie has been brought low and understands the horrible things she's done. Now, in a wildlife reserve miles away from civilization, she has found peace. But it is a fragile peace, ready to shatter when a flock of ducks arrive from afar.

The Eye and the Web (Slice of Life): An old seer is summoned to Ponyville to perform her last seeing.

So when she's whisked off to a magical kingdom full of talking equines, things start looking up. Except it's not the kingdom full of talking equines she was hoping for... (Will not be finished.)

A Blackout in Ponyville (Random, Crossover): Blackout -- a giant, evil robot covered in guns and blades -- visits Equestria to see one particular pink party pony. Vinyl Scratch Drops the Title (Teen: Sex, Random, Comedy): During the decannual Main/Background Exchange Day, Vinyl Scratch ends up sorting books with Princess Twilight Sparkle much to her chagrin and eternal boredom.

Love Means Never Having to Say You're Hungry (Romance, Dark): Rainbow Dash has a problem with Pinkie Pie.
