This story is a sequel to A Changeling Queen Under the Griffon's Crown

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy?[...] A new day will come."—Samwise Gamgee

Alan Williams Goldenhoof has been there and back again. He saved Equestria, saved an Empire, and even walked up to Death's door, shook his hoof, and then went on his merry way. He is loved in Ponyville, famous in Caterlot, and is considered to be a hero.

And now his heroics are about to end. Perhaps permanently.

With a shadow of arcane evil lurking in the back of his mind, and an old foe on a new battlefield, he has met his match. But no matter what they say, he knows the truth. He knows this guy cannot be trusted.

No matter what they say.

Dark machinations are at work, and for Rarity, life has taken a turn for the worst. She's now in a place called Ancelstierre on another world, where nopony has ever seen or scarcely even heard of a unicorn before. What dangers lay in wait in this new land of strange magic and mystery? What happened to Rainbow Dash or Pinkie Pie? More importantly, how does she get back home?

Welcome to the Old Kingdom, my little ponies. Magic works quite differently here...

This story runs parallel (as in it happens at the same time as) to the other stories in "The Madverse". Those stories are, A Twilight Landing, My Little Marriage, So Many Wonders, as well as The Mane Two : Contrail, started by Alex Nuage, and currently being written by Ludicrous Lycan. A few other side stories, too. I've written this story with people unfamiliar to the target crossover in mind as well, so approaching this with an open mind is all you need to enjoy the tale. I hope you all enjoy traveling with Rarity and Pinkie through this magical world, whether you are familiar with its mysteries or not.

If you would like, I can send you the books through skype. ( I highly recommend them for a purchase, however.)

Sabriel is a fantasy novel by Garth Nix, published in the year 1995. It is the first in his Old Kingdom trilogy, and is followed by Lirael and Abhorsen. Most everything of substance in this story is the property of him. MLP is Hasbro (duh).

Author's Note

For anypony asking themselves 'why' I chose to crossover for a large piece of these crazy stories, the answer's simple. I had considered that some may not buy into this, but I felt that using established work would add credence and a solid foundation. In other words, that the stories would benefit from a pre-established fantasy setting, rather than one I just made up for the purpose of this series of fics. I can't really say if it was the right decision, but at least you can know that I didn't just throw the rest of the mane six into a sloppily made world rather than one written by a literary genius. (I honestly doubt I could make something as fascinating as this.) With that said, please enjoy.

Lazy Pines is a small town in the high country of Colorado, easily overshadowed by the bigger sights to see along Colorado State 9. When influenza strikes the town hard, it is little more than a statistical blip in a typical flu season. No one thinks any more of it as the initial wave of infection passes ... until the other symptoms begin to manifest.

Meanwhile, during what should have been a routine trip to Canterlot, Twilight Sparkle stumbles upon a strange anomaly which turns into an all-consuming mystery. As she discovers the complex web of magic stubbornly maintaining this mystery's secrets, she grows worried what it could mean for herself and her family.

And as the residents of Lazy Pines struggle to understand -- or even believe -- what is happening to them, two worlds have irrevocably been set on a direct collision course.

Why can't anything go as planned? All I wanted was to go on a date with the girl of my dreams, finish college, and hopefully settle down with a family somewhere. However, due to an unlucky set of circumstances, I am instead thrust into a world of magic and intrigue, forced to do battle for the amusement of bored Demons and Gods.

On top of that, my patron deity is a lying, stingy jerk who's only goal seems to be my immediate discomfort and misery.

However, I can't just back out. If I do, I will never be able to return home. At least, I'll never be able to return home in one piece...

This story is inspired by (not copied from) the chessverse. It has absolutely no bearing on that universe, will not feature any of the unique characters from those stories, and will not involve it in any way. I just liked the idea of a story about the Gods playing with the lives of mortals, and wanted to take a crack at the idea.

When Ruby boards the first trans-oceanic flight in Equestrian history, the last place she expects to end up is stranded in the middle of Eternity's Crossing in the wake of a horrific zeppelin crash. After a mysterious tower leads her and a fellow survivor to discover a twisted and fragmented city twenty thousand feet below the surface of the ocean, though, a bit of fire and smoke is the last thing she needs to worry about. Between the horrendously disfigured residents and the paranoia of the madmare who once built and controlled it, daily survival in this corrupted utopia is anything but a guarantee. But with the help of some new friends and a few genetic enhancements, Ruby isn't going down without a fight, and in the process might just discover that the deadliest weapon in Harmony is herself.

An adaptation of BioShock for the world of MLP. Written to be comprehensible to anyone, regardless of whether they've played the original game.

"Awkward, but worth it."
This is the phrase Twilight Sparkle used when Rainbow Dash first attempted to work up the courage to confess her love for Applejack. Rainbow quickly realized that she was right--it was awkward, but worth it. What she didn't realize was just how applicable that statement would be throughout all her life. That first conversation. That first kiss. That first night spent together. That time Apple Bloom walked in on them. That first apology after their first argument. The arrival of that acceptance letter. And on so many more occasions.
Throughout it all, Rainbow kept smiling.
It was awkward, yes. At times so much so that she wished she could sink into the ground and disappear forever.
But in the end, every time--every time--it was always so very, very worth it.

Dear Tchernobog: This is all your fault. I hate mildly disapprove of your guts. Sincerely, bt.

... is in Hell.

Through some horrifying circumstances, the blue armor that was scattered in the ruins of the Royal Sisters' Castle reconstitutes the vessel of Nightmare Moon. Only this time, a human soul is its life source.

Rated Teen for some questionably older implications toward the beginning. In contrast, pyromaniacs will find said implications very underwhelming.
