In an alternate universe where Sunset Shimmer has made the difficult decision to return to her home world, the young unicorn must face a past she has been avoiding and learn a lesson in friendship that she won't soon forget. It hasn't been easy, but her time in Equestria has produce a positive rate of progress towards an eventual goal of self integration back into Pony Society. And although others might have forgiven her for what she has done- has she the strength to forgive herself and move on?

On the one hoof, she has Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship and her most current confidant. On the other, her old mentor, Princess Celestia and ruler of all Equestria. Although she cares for both, she finds herself conflicted by her past actions and unable to chose whom she should resume her lessons with...and whether or not she deserves a second chance at a brighter tomorrow.

Disclaimer: This story is set to take place two years after the events of EQG - Friendship Games and the end of MLP:FiM Season 5. Please note that any characters or plots from EQG - Legend of Everfree or from MLP: FiM (season 6 and on) are not considered as part of this universe and will not be fully referenced.

After much convincing from Twilight, Sunset Shimmer decides returning to Equestria for a day wouldn't be such a bad idea. After all, a quiet afternoon with one of her closest friends wouldn't be much of a problem... right?

Well, possibly so, if Sunset didn't return as an alicorn. Now, Twilight has more questions than answers, and is determined to figure out everything and not let Sunset leave until she's finished.

Now, as Princess Celestia thinks Sunset's a princess and Twilight seems to be continuously persuading her to get her to stay, Sunset can't help but wonder: will she ever make it back home?

This story is a sequel to A Sun's Secret

Three months.
Three months since Luna discovered Sunset Shimmer was Celestia's daughter. Since then, Celestia has backed down from her promise to tell Sunset the truth.

Sunset Shimmer's birthday is in three months.
Princess Luna is determined to reunite mother and daughter for the first time in years. The only way she can accomplish this is by enlisting Twilight Sparkle to help her convince Sunset Shimmer to return to Equestria for her birthday. But this requires more than a chat. It requires secrecy, breaking a silent promise, and hoping Twilight Sparkle can get the job done.

We all have seen how Sunset Shimmer's situation at Canterlot High arose. She was a student of Celestia's and then when she didn't get what she wanted as fast as she liked, she took a darker path, and then went through portal to the human reality of Equestria.

But what about before becoming Celestia's student? No one knows what happened before all that. Oh, many claim she was Celestia's daughter, and a whole band of other theories. But this little short one-shot will reveal the truth. The truth of Sunset Shimmer's past, and why she won't go back to Equestria.

For many countless years, the Sun and Moon have watched over the magical world of Equestria. Due to a miracle, they are given a chance to walk upon the world they gazed from afar. Join them as they see what Equestria has to offer.

The following events of this story will take place during Season 4.

When Princess Celestia calls Princess Twilight over to Canterlot to 'talk', Twilight knows something's up. She brings her friends, but Celestia requests and audience with Twilight. Alone.

Celestia explains about the great alicorns of old, and how an alicorn's spirit is different from other ponies'. Alicorn spirits live forever, but they need a host once their original body dies.

One of the hosts were in that room.

The Tree of Harmony...

An ancient, mystical, and mysterious, tree that houses the Elements of Harmony. No one knows how long it has existed for, or why it even exists.

Many questions are asked about the origins of the Tree of Harmony, like how does this tree harbor powerful magic, or how did it create the Elements of Harmony. But a bigger question arises:

Is the Tree aware?

That answer rocked the thoughts of Twilight Sparkle when a large magical flux occurred in the Everfree Forest. She goes to investigate to see if the Tree of Harmony was alright, but she wasn't ready for what she was about to see.

Takes place a few weeks after the Season 6 Premiere.

This story is a sequel to Becoming One With the Night

It was supposed to be a good day. Twilight and Luna were sharing the news of their relationship with their closest friends and family. However, Celestia's largest secret yet finally came out. Now, relations are strained between Celestia and everypony else. After all, what's Twilight to do when she finds out her second mother is actually her birth mother?

On top of this massive bombshell, soon Twilight will be sporting a pair of wings of her own. If she thought things were complicated now, just wait until Canterlot gets wind of a new alicorn. Life is about to become one giant nightmare for Twilight. But hey, at least she has Luna, right?

As stated above, this is a sequel. I highly encourage you to read the first story (the writing is extremely rough early on, mind you), but it's not entirely required to understand most everything that will be going on here.

EDIT: Takes place during S3, when it was originally conceived, thus the Alt. Universe tag. There was no redemption of Discord. There was no ascension. Yes, the Crystal Empire is back, and Cadance and Shining Armor are the leaders there. This should cover the more critical aspects of the season in regards to the story.
