Roughclaw was the last hippogriff anyone thought about when it came to romance. But in truth, he was consumed by the idea of courting the one he loves.

The problem was that a simple, grizzled stone mason and chiseler like him had nothing to offer that well-off, handsome hippogriffs couldn't provide. That was until Roughclaw read about the ancient jewelberry.

This is my story that earned a top 10 spot in the Iron Author speed-writing challenge of Ponyfest 3.0, hosted by Xepher. This version is heavily edited but maintains the same basic premise.

It's official. Twilight Sparkle has entered the highly competitive world of book writing.

The only problem? Her stories are far too complicated, confusing, and long for most ordinary ponies to even understand -- Twilight's close friends included.

Now Twilight must try her hooves at something she thought nearly impossible.

Writing a simple story.

The invasion is going well- not perfectly, as humanity isn't willing to go into slavery without a fight- but the odds remain firmly in the invaders' favor.

After all, to any star-spanning race, humans are just natives. No space fleets, no lasers, no antigravity, nothing. They might as well fight with bows and arrows.

And then the aliens find out that humanity does have one ally- the ponies.

The silly, fluffy, obsessed-with-friendship, and above all pacifist ponies.

The aliens are laughing.

The aliens haven't faced the ponies in combat yet.

A random snippet unrelated to anything else, written to get it out of my head so I could move on to other stuff.

Minuette has an imaginary friend. At least, that's what everypony else thinks.

When ten-year-old magic student Minuette comes into possession of an antique vanity mirror, she is surprised to discover there is a creature living inside: A bug pony with big fangs and glowing eyes. Most little foals would probably be scared of such a creature, but not Minuette. Armed with a cheerful smile, she decides to befriend the bug in her mirror and uncover the mystery behind his bewildering predicament.

It's just such a shame that nopony else can see him.

There are all sorts of things that can be done with a cell phone, like summoning encyclopedia articles or getting aurascopes or finding out what the weather can be or talking to friends or ordering food for delivery.

Every pony should have one.

Even if they’re not exactly hoof-friendly.

Long story short, I was a brony. I woke up one day to find myself in Spike's body. Dream come true, right? I'm in Equestria, I could interact with my favorite ponies, etc.

Well, as it turns out, I just happened to wake up right at the beginning of Season 1. Which could only mean one thing: I can change the future of Equestria. I could solve problems prematurely, prevent disasters from happening, and keep Twilight from going insane.

So now, my mission isn't to hug my favorite ponies, but to make sure everyone gets a happy life.
