Sunset Shimmer was vital to the defeat of the Dazzlings at the Battle of the Bands. Now a heroine instead of a villain, she accepts the mantle of leadership while struggling against her own past. Sunset Shimmer will extend a hand in friendship, which starts an adventure that will create far-reaching consequences for her friends on both sides of the mirror. This story begins two or three days after the conclusion of Equestria Girls 2: Rainbow Rocks.

The Dazzlings are now "harmless, ordinary teenage girls", deprived of their talents of persuasion. They won't stand for this, but will they be able to strike back at those who hurt them? Will they be able to adjust to the normal life? Will they be found out? These girls haven't given their swan songs yet!

After witnessing abuse at the hands of Adagio and Aria, Pinkie Pie comes to the aid of Sonata. The two quickly hit it off and a friendship is born… much to the dismay of everyone around them.

During one of her daily walks while out of school, Sunset Shimmer stumbles across a lone Sonata Dusk sitting in a coffee shop. Curiosity gets the better of her, and she approaches the Siren to start a conversation. What she gets in response is little less than shocking.

Following the events of the Anon-a-Miss incident, Sunset Shimmer happens across the group that once reduced the students of CHS to arguments and infighting. It occurs to her that they weren't the first, or the last, to do so.

After the battle of the bands, Twilight has been thinking over many things regarding the Dazzlings. She feels that she failed in her duty as Princess of Friendship not just because she didn't figure everything out, but also due to the fact she just left the Dazzlings alone. When she defeated Sunset she gave her friends, but Twilight just watched as the Adagio, Aria, and Sonata ran off the stage. Don't they also deserve another chance?

Twilight has decided to make it her mission to fix this mistake, and she hopes Sunset Shimmer will help her. She also hopes the two of them can improve their friendship.

After the battle of the bands, things have been different and better for Sunset Shimmer. However, there are a couple of things on her mind still. The main one being how she wants things to be better between her and Twilight. After all, Sunset knows she owes the purple pony princess everything. She also feels like they didn't really get to know each other better last time Twilight came to the human world.

When Twilight mentions a mission for the two of them will this be the chance Sunset wanted to improve things? Also how deep will their relationship grow if it grows in the first place? Also what happened to the Dazzlings afterwards anyways?
