Ignorance, cruelty and superstition pervade through the beautiful Equestrian city of Maris. Discord And Fluttershy are getting close again, since it has been over a year since Discord threw away their friendship. Determined to set things right, he tries to make it up to her. Yet everytime he is around her, he feels something spark inside of him, and he knows what it is, but he denies this new feelings. Fluttershy, who also is having conflicts, accidentaly made a peep about liking somepony. Her friends won't let her keep it a secret, and Fluttershy is scared of their judgement if she tells him who this special 'somepony' is. Will their friendship blossom into something more?

Set directly after the Tirek incident, Fluttershy and Discord are suffering, alone and apart. Fluttershy may have forgiven him, but she feels that she has failed her friend, and longs to understand Discord. Why wasn't she good enough, why did he betray them? Why hadn't he cherished their friendship as much as she had?

Discord, on the other hand, struggles from the pain of his own guilt, and doesn't even know who he is anymore. He doesn't want to lose the closest friend he has either, but he's positive that their relationship will never be the same again. He can't stand it.

They're falling apart, and the magic of the earth isn't happy about it. Then a cloaked stranger comes into the picture, and plants a mysterious flower...

Fluttershy only utters a simple request. "I wish I could understand you, Discord..."

Little does she know that such a wish entails much more than just an understanding...and her wish is granted in the most chaotic of ways--and the only one who can help her is the very friend she is trying to understand.

It will soon be nightmare night, the streets of quiet little ponyville are alive with excitement, games are being put up for the little fillys and colts to play and costumes are being made for the night. Everyone is excited but one, Fluttershy has never been on a nightmare night, scared by her own shadow, how could she possibly get through the night, maybe with a little push she can have fun, maybe with a bigger push something more.

A father gives a tale to his foals to get them to go to bed before their mother returns from her evening with friends. The tale is about Fluttershy, a myserious wishing hoofband, and a wizened mystery stallion.
