Working in a dump has its ups and downs - sure, you may go home smelling like trash, but the riches you can find more than make up for it. Gently used furniture, perfectly good books, and even some nearly intact action figures are just the tip of the iceberg of what Anon has found on his daily duties - still, even after years of working at the junkyard, he still stumbles across a few surprises.

A young Floridian boy and his father take a boat trip to a remote island. But when an ocean storm hits, the boy is whisked away to the magical land of Equestria; more specifically, Mount Aris.

At the same time, Silverstream has just finished school for the year at the School of Friendship and is upset since her friends from the school don't have any time to visit her at Mount Aris. She first finds the boy unconcious and later decides to help the boy find his lost father when he awakens from being unconcious.

Celestia has tragically died and the dead have started to rise and attack the living as consequence. Despite the attempts of the other princesses, the elements of harmony and brave ponies who risked their lives, the dead prevailed. Continuing to plague Equestria for generations, killing thousands.

One unfortunate mare from the first invasions comes across a certain element of harmony who once saved her life, only this time she's part of the plague.

During one of her many passion projects, Twilight decides to try and track down the origins of magic and where everypony came from. Her library is chock full of various different theories, none of them very helpful. She decides, instead, to ask Princess Celestia.

However, the answer she gets is far more absurd than she bargained for. An answer so detached from reality that it takes a physical manifestation of it to show Twilight the extent of the terrifying source of magic and what it did to a once-benign world to render it and its inhabitants so fantastical.

"You were never the first ones here, nor were you the second. We were the second."
