Soaring

An amalgamation of nice and spice. Controversial in every sense of the word. Wonderbolts enjoyer.

During the middle of the night, Sunset receives a text from Twilight. At first, she didn’t think anything of it, until she realized that Twilight was hitting on her, and she was serious about it.

It only got worse better from there.

oh my god this was so cute, excellent work

Very adorable! Your characterization for them was very charming. Great work!

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.

A little unorthodox, but now bad for your first ship fic.

Thank you! And this isn't my first ship fic tbh, it's technically my 2nd on this account. First one I wrote is this one: link. Although, that one is way more controversial conceptually (cheating was involved) than this one.

Well that wasn't very scientific!

Quite fun, though.

That's pretty much how it would be likely to happen.

I can very much see both girls being a mess over it.

interesting writing. skipped a bunch of little details, like when did sunset open the door? also a bit ooc in a bunch of spots but those felt like authors sense of humour and scene writing.

over all, cute. have a like!

A long pause. It was like she heard Twilight from all the way down the street contemplating her next move. The next move in a twenty move battle thus far, and for some reason, Twilight’s Queen was out in front, shuffling down the board to put Sunset’s King in check, and she wasn’t a fan of that right now, not one bit. In fact, she would rather have her Queen sacrifice itself to destroy Twilight’s but she hadn’t crossed that bridge of anger… yet. It was distilling in a giant vat somewhere deep within the confines of herself. She wasn’t willing to go there, not even if she was going to find the end of a rainbow that was filled with a pot of gold—

I have absolutely 0 idea of what this means

Twiggles, you're an adorable mess.

Solid. It’s got a good beat to it.

Short, but cute and gets the job done. I really liked Sunsetʼs inner conversation and the narration form her point of view.

For something out of your comfort zone, good work.

That was adorable and very funny. Wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel.

A murmur of a groan. Arms looped around her. She could hear Twilight sigh as she nuzzled back. The world of Sunset faded to black. But one thing stood out:

She forgot to study for the Chemistry test tomorrow.

I wish there were a scene following this one that explored how deep Sci-Twi's feelings for Sunset were that she actually ignored her studies.

But aside from that, this was a nice, cute story!

Wow, lots of comments on this. I really appreciate everyone who decided to give this fic a read. Really made my day, so thank you!

Chemistry was in the air--or that was the smell of the pizza boxes. Sunset is totally not sure about that. :rainbowlaugh:

Thank you, I'm happy you enjoyed the fic!

Tomato faces ahoy. Glad you enjoyed the story!

like when did sunset open the door?

I genuinely forgot to say that she opened the door! Marking this one down as the first time that's happened. :rainbowlaugh:

Happy you enjoyed the fic and thank you for taking the time to read it!

To be honest, neither does Sunset.

Basically I wrote that as a way to describe Sunset's headspace at that moment, although I might have missed the mark as I wasn't direct enough as to what was going on. She was basically playing metaphorical chess with Twilight, and she was losing.

Thank you! I always try to diversify my writing and this one had more of a poetic beat to it than some of my other works. Happy you enjoyed it!

Thank you! Always good to challenge yourself as an author to see what sticks and what doesn't. Happy that a lot of people liked this one.

Appreciate the feedback! I don't have any plans currently to do a sequel, but it might be possible to do in the future if I come up with an idea that would do it justice. Actually, scratch that, I think 11771239 just gave me the idea on a silver platter. I felt like if I added that at the end, it would've just been tacked on, but that might be a good concept for the next fic. I'll see what I can do. Thank you both for giving this a read!

Heh. That was fun. Good thing Sunny is smart enough to still pull a pass in chemistry even with sleep deprivation.

This was both wholesome and so cringe worthy at the same time with the amount of unfiltered humor in this, and yet somehow you kept it relatively tame. Proud of you, Soaring.

Now go finish your other story. You know which one.

She took another wrong roll and fell off her bed and onto the pizza box from last night. Groaning, she got up, and fumbled to the stand. She pulled down the string and—

Oof. :fluttershyouch:

“Pick up the phone, bitch!” the phone said with malicious intent.

I have so many questions about her ringtone!? :applejackconfused:

Twilight smiled, sheepishly, holding a pillow in her arms. She had on her glasses, and she was wearing PJs with a light lavender shirt that said in very BOLD lettering: WEAR PURPLE on her chest. Sunset stared at the shirt, then back at Twilight.

How did she get over so quick, let alone at this time of night!? :pinkiegasp:

Then, she felt it, a tongue licking her hand. Sunset repulsed, flicking her hand back to her side. “Why did you just—”

And here I thought I'd only see Hunter from TOH do that. :applejackunsure:

She forgot to study for the Chemistry test tomorrow.

At least she got what she wanted, confessing to Sunset.

Yes. I ate them all.

Haha, she has the appetite of a horse. Gottem. Anyway, this fic was almost as gay as you are. Good work.

Sunset shot her conscience in a back alley with a metaphorical blast of magic.

"I told you not to try anything!" -- Alan Wake Sunset Shimmer, 2024

In all seriousness, this is solid. Real punch to the prose, descriptive without being long-winded, witty (a-la Bond / Whedon / Moffat-Under-RTD Doctor Who) but heartfelt. Good stuff.
