Solid start. The Baroness title shocked me, but it makes sense. The Apple Family owns more land than any other family in Ponyville and the town formed around their farm after Celestia gave them the land. With vast amounts of land usually comes a title. They wouldn't be the first noble family that was Land Rich and Money Poor.

She knows him a bit considering who his sister is but not as well as his sister. I honestly hope it works out considering most fans put twilight with someone who falls under not ordinary. An ex villain or a changeling or a human turned pony.

This chapter hit every mark possible. I can totally see Cadence doing that. Velvet is classic Velvet. The CMC are in top form. Referring to Big Mac as a minor noble lord still takes some getting used to, also not sure I like him not being the heir as the older sibling.
I need more of this.

It's Rainbow Dash. Of course she's that irresponsible.
Well, one trainwreck got miraculously avoided somehow regarding the act of them asking each other out on a date.
But that train is still speeding along and several others just left the station with other parties getting involved...
Sounds like a good use of time. What else do they get up to over there anyway?
I am so glad that flashback with a young Larry made it into a story.
I can see it now. Twilight and Mac are trying to have a reasonable date, trying hard to ignore Applejack and Caramel only to have Blueblood kick in the doors with his butler at his side.
"Say! I mean you! Keep your dirty hooves off Lady Ponyville! Duel! You bet I'll duel you... for the honor of Lady Ponyville."
Applejack sighes. "All Celestia's sake, calm down Larry."
So... when is this set? Because the opening suggested it was soon after Lesson Zero, but it's apparently also after the love poison incident and looks to be getting Cadance involved with things too. I mean, yes, the show's chronology has always been a four-dimensional anarcho-pretzel, but this still feels kinda weird.
Also, I have to say, Dash and Rarity have some great interactions here. Honestly makes me kinda wish Dash's attraction-hint hadn't been towards AJ, but that's probably my own biases talking.
And here I thought Luna just wanted attention...

It's after Lesson Zero and the Love Potion incident but before the Wedding/Changeling Invasion. So it's not too much of a pretzel.
And I just love writing Rarity and Rainbow Dash bouncing off eachother. They're a lot of fun to write.
And no, I don't follow most of the canon pairings because I feel most were just made to get Twitter likes.

REALLY good work on this story thus far. Nothing I can say that other reviewers haven't already said better, but, yeah, a little romantic comedy once in a while is actually pretty refreshing given how messed up the world is. And, of course, the dialogues, characterizations and future chapter set-up are all pretty well done too. Of course, given the lack of an Alternate Universe tag, it's pretty easy to guess that this scheme is going to end in disaster - perhaps not the first date, or perhaps not even the second, maybe not even the third, but eventually. After all, we all know Mac ends up marrying Sugar Belle years later. In the meantime, though, this is still pretty sweet and funny.
Definitely looking forward to more of this.

It might not end in disaster as much as some think, this seems to start before Twilight ascended so when that happens, again possible due to lack of AU tag, Big Mac could just pull the "I like/love you but the royal life is not for me" card. I am not expecting it to change the story, unless the AU tag can be/gets added later, but there are many ways it can end without it being a "disaster".
