Canterlot Royal Academy: a prestigious university with an ancient and honorable origin, and the primary destination of Equestria's elite.
Student council president Twilight Sparkle and vice-president Rarity are in love, but they can't bring themselves to admit it to each other. The only path forward is to get the other to admit her feelings. Thus begins a battle of wits the likes of which has never been seen at the academy.
Inspired by the anime/manga Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Note that the characters aren't intended to be one-to-one matches, and this is in college instead of high school. No characters or settings cross over, so this isn't tagged as a crossover.

Oh this is beautiful. I never got around to actually watching Kaguya-sama, but I've seen clips and heard stories, and this is absolutely hilarious so far. So Twilight is clearly Kaguya, Rarity is....I don't remember his name, and Pinkie is Chica.
Easily the best moment of the story so far.

I didn't make things one-to-one, but Twilight is like Kaguya in that she's born into money while Rarity is like Miyuki in that she's lower class and had to work her way into the school. Beyond that, I don't think they're that similar to those particular characters. Rarity is the one more likely to go, "How cute..." for one thing, making her more like Kaguya in that regard. Pinkie is 100% playing the Chika role. Yu Ishigami won't really have an equivalent, except in the sense that Wallflower and Mudbriar share his job.

...Good job, Twilight. Wonderful chapter. It's rather impressive that there's someone Pinkie doesn't like, and of course the plotting is wonderful. Although my favorite part of the chapter has to be the contrast to what Twilight thinks Rarity's thinking, and what she's actually thinking. Classic

Well Twilight has nothing to worry about on Cadance's front. This chapter was so random it was amazing. It took me a bit to realize the random warlock turning people into elks wasn't Rockhoof, but eh
And yeah, given that Twilight's pining after a girl, I don't think Cadance's "emergency item" is going to get much use. But hey, it was a nice thought.

Ah sorry, I chose not to describe Rockhoof until he appeared since he's a character from the show, but I suppose that would be confusing for those not already familiar with him.
I haven't said so explicitly yet, but Twilight is bisexual in this story, so the emergency item wouldn't necessarily be useless.

They're the cheerleaders from "2 4 6 Greaaat", Shimmy Shake and Lighthoof, turned into the fangirls for a particular person in school (or pairing in this case) that you often see in school anime. I won't deny an Utena reference, though.
This has been absolutely delightful so far. Rarity and Twilight are so much fun in this, and I can't wait to see more.
