CrackedInkWell

"Inspiration does not come to the lazy. It only comes to those who call it." - P. I. Tchaikovsky

Warning: The following story you are about to read contains the shenanigans of Braeburn and his father. It contains plenty of gay things that may be considered too much to someone that for whatever reason finds revolting. If you do not like it, you know where the exit button is.

You know how some relative of yours has that one story about you that you never once said and that they will repeat that story to every family gathering until they die? For Braeburn Apple, that story involves in the way that he came out to his father - Johnnieseed Apple.

The following is that account, told from the point of view of the father.

A special thank you to Maxwell_Edison for volunteering to edit this. As well as to TheWingman for reading the story on his YouTube Channel.

I'll wait until its edited

For not being edited, I don't think I saw any errors, nothing like that caught my attention anyway.

Ah, that was delightful.

Out of curiosity, when did the idea that Braeburn was super gay take root in the fandom?

Hmm... Don't quote me since I'm not sure. But I was given the impression that since his first appearance, there have been memes and uh... art, that give strong suggestions that he might be gay. However, if you were to ask why, I think Silver Quill put it best in his "Appleoosa's Most Wanted" review:

"So, Braeburn. Brae. Brae Meister. For a long time now you've been seen and not heard. Gone for season two, cameos in seasons three and four. I can only imagine the storm your return caused for shippers. Oh yes! As one of only three nice stallions in season one, the law of supply and demand require that you should be shipped her (shows Twilight), and her (Rarity), and her, (Rainbow Dash), and her (Pinkie Pie), her (Fluttershy), her (Celestia), her (Zechora), her (Trixie), her, her, her (shows quickly a number of random mares)... And that's not even covering the same sex and just crazy ships. You know, it'd be faster to list all the folks you haven't been shipped with. (Silver pop's up) Oh! Oh! I see how it is! What? You think I'm not good enough? I don't swing that way but it's the principle, dangit! The principle!"

I'd say so. I don't remember if it was internally or externally, but I do remember chuckling from start to finish.

Aww, this was cute and very sweet! I loved all the suggested SoarBurn references, and I thought Brae's dad was written in a sincere, loving way.

That was a cute story all right! :ajsmug:

As far as I know,he was viewed like that by some fans ever since his introduction. I think it has something to do with the whole 'gay cowboys' clishe.

To the author - i'm gonna talk about the important bits i really liked/stood out to me...yay! for the dad being supportive and hilariously bad attempts of getting his son to come out. also interesting origin story on brae's getting his hat.

p.s: how do you that part with the diary?
Note - this was written several hours ago!

Well this had been a very fun read when I actually got around to read it, I loved the lengths that Breaburn's parent went through to hint to him to get coxes into open up to him only to sent the completely wrong message. This certainly demonstrate the tediousness and pointlessness of not confronting the elephant in the room directly in hopes that he will open up on his own, and to not snoop in other people/ponies privet stuff.

Good job

Your wish has been granted.

Aww! I liked this. :3

Wow, reading this does make me feel like looking at some alternate universe. Nice work.

“Well… Don’t take this the wrong way here, but with all that’s goin’ on… Ah was hopin’ that you’d tell me the truth on somethin’.”

“Yes yes. What is it?”

“Uh…” he looked directly at me in the eye and ask, “Dad… are ya gay?”

That had me laughing my flank off. :rainbowlaugh:

Aww, such a nice little bow to wrap up the story with. Cute, wholesome, and hilarious, you struck a good balance between the three. Some analogies/similes felt a bit off with the situation they’re in, but other than that, this is a great, delightful little story you’ve written! Here, have a like!

You’ve got good comedic timing, this was pretty funny.

So sweet and wholesome, I love Braeburn's dad
