So if Luna never came back as Nightmare Moon to cause eternal night... Where the fuck is Twilight Sparkle?
... Is there some reason that Luna remembering should be a surprise, Celestia? Were you expecting her to have forgotten such an important day in your lives?
Woah what a shift. Keep up the good work.
Probably either never born or just celestial student.

Indidn't mean spoiled by you, I meant by the others in the story turning the event sour somehow. Sorry
Yeah... I have no idea what's going on. It seems like Lucas wasn't in a months long coma as might be expected given the length of that memory section. And when we left off...<reads chapter> she just got shot out of the sky I guess? Checks out. Presumably this was the bit all the build up was for? Ùllahdmaiden? <reads chapter> Okay she did say something about them fighting. Didn't imply humans or Earth or anything. Maybe that's in a different chapter? And I guess now we know that Luna has an emotional attachment to her wings. I feel like I could have guessed that without having it spelled out, but here we are anyway.
Why does Lucas have a boot sequence? Like, she did in the past too (I think, it's been a while) but I figured that was a humorous way of showing that she was slowly waking up, but this isn't exactly a humorous situation. <Reads chapters> Actually no, the boot sequence is new (at least following memory sequences) so now I'm even more confused as to why that's in there. Maybe Lucas' emotion stuff is why? <Reads more chapters> No boot sequences but the computer stuff is associated with emotional repression. Doesn't seem quite applicable, but I'm hopeful we're not going to have another memories segment where we learn that Luna's dream walking turned her into a robot or something.
This feels like the climax of the story; why do I need to do homework to understand what's going on!?
Neph teased the sequel to this fic a while ago, and though the link is broken, I remember a certain red tag on it that isn't on this story.
I hope Luna isn't about to be killed off. Any comeuppance Celestia suffers will be hollow without Luna there to appreciate it.
Sweet sweet chaos and misery >:D
Sweet, sweet return to normalcy!

It feels like the computer stuff is a build up to show that there's a bigger problem. Like there's a priority check running in the middle of the whole "mental issues from slay the princess type vibe going on.

lucas has been through things throughout the story with getting lunas memorys thrown in his head to experincing things he wasnt equiped to handel. then it seems when he "boxed" things he got worse and when all that got ejected when celestia found him again it seems to have fractured lucas personality with him developing voices of his diffrent selves. The boot sequence is likely to show that while lucas doesnt have things repressed at the moment his mind is not ok
So Celestia knows luna dident rememeber her originaly. perhaps it was something she noticed or perhaps this could mean celestia's future vision isnt as good as we think
You know that game with the princess in the cabin? The Narrator is telling to you to kill the princess. And the voices you get after each ending? That is what this reminds me of.
Also shit got just real!!!
(I hope that cake-eating, fat, white individual will get what she deserves 🗣️)
>What difference does it make?< sound's better.
It seemed to me that the voices in Luna's mind represented a strong emotion summoned by her traumas. We have anger, cold logic, obsessive delusion and despair. The quote above is Despair, and I think the author wanted to convey how a part of Luna had given up on life and how that part of her is in constant state of depression (very much Nurgle worship), an abhorrent rot of her mental self.
I would have put another line there:
>...only the dead have seen the end of war<
this convey how Luna has given up on the possibility of peace and resigned herself to the fact that as long as she lives she will be forced to fight for her survival.
This is her self-delusion, that pushes her to see conspiracy in every shadow. This is a force of mistrust, ego, fear and self-righteousness that push the mind to believe he can do no wrong and that those around her are conspiring against her (typical Tzeecian behaviour). I would have demonstrated it more strongly:
>WE WERE RIGHT!! Don't you see!? You have fallen into her trap! We can't trust her, we can't trust anything!<
The voice of mistrust should have screamed in vindication at Celestia's "betrayal" as its prediction born of mistrust was true.
>KILL HER! MAIN HER! BURN EVERYTHING!<
Pretty accurate so far. Rage for rage sake (Korn)

I just researched the game you mentioned: it is called "Slay The Princess". It's quite interesting
The armored blue hoof turned another page in the journal
Over the last few weeks we had been receiving reports of unrest around the City of Canterlot. While much of the population of Equestria had come to terms with Her Highness' return, several in fact, had not. Her Highness, for her credit, shrugged it off, saying "Ponies will be ponies" and "I have heard worse." But as someone who faced scorn of my own in the past, I knew she was hurting.
Discontent led to Vandalism, led to active protests and marches, until one day...
"Lieutenant Muse!" Captain Gleaming Shield of the Solar Guard called to me from my post "You better come to the Royal Address Balcony..." From the urgency in her voice, I decided to follow. What met me when I broke out into the sun... Both Princesses, a Squad of Solar guard, and at the gate of the Castle? A full mob, screaming and shouting. Calling for Princess Luna's head.
By Harmony, some even constructed an effigy of her in a noose....
To this day, I don't know what possessed me to stop forward and speak, but I hoofed my helmet off, and summoned up my command voice.
"PONIES! What is the meaning of this!? Why call for the death of another Pony, a Princess no less?" I demanded of the crowd
"Because she threatened Almighty Celestia before! she could be a threat again!" One brave soul shouted above the others. Cries of "Yeah!" and "String her up!" came from other spots in the crowd. I was disgusted.. I looked back to both Princesses and mouthed 'I've got this.'
"So, because she might be a threat you would have her neutralized?" I asked, pausing to let the self justified ponies have enough rope to hang themselves with shouts of agreement. "Despite the fact the very Princess you wish to protect brought her into her own home? Is her own judgement not to be trusted?" Some of the ponies started mumbling at this, but one pony, the one holding the effigy shouted back.
"But she's strong! That much power can't be trusted with our Sun!" I just gave him a condescending smirk.
"So if nobody had the power to threaten Princess Celestia you would be satisfied? Very well then, I'm sure that you would be completely at ease if an order were set in place that every Unicorn in Canterlot were to have their horns removed so no spells could be brought to bear against her Highness? How about having Pegasi wing tendons severed so lightning could not be employed as a threat?" Gasps of shock went through the crowd. "Why even stop there? Ham string every Earth Pony so she couldn't be bucked from here to Griffonia. Then she would be truly safe. " I let them stew on this for a moment.
"I want you to think on this. If you would have Princess Celestia's own sister delivered up to you for mob justice, how can literally any other pony be trusted? Where does it end? I was raised to understand that our most sacred beliefs were Love and Tolerance, to believe in the Elements of Harmony, and yet you were plotting Regicide over what might happen?" I could feel the shame coming from the crowd. "Tell me Honestly, where is the Kindness in what you are doing? where is the Loyalty? do you think you would bring Princess Celestia any Laughter? Be Generous to yourselves and go home, Friends.
One by one, the ponies threw down their pitchforks and implements and just... walked away. I looked up to both Princesses and gave a proper Salute "Situation resolved, your Highnesses."
Celestia, for her credit, kept her attention focused on Princess Luna "Are you alright, Sister?"
"I... will be."
A few days later, I found myself summoned to Her Highness's personal office
"Datura Moonflower, reporting as ordered!" I shouted, knocking before entering
The Princess just fixed me with a piercing gaze. "Tell me, Moonflower, would you actually have done all of those garish things to protect my sister?"
"With respect, your Highness, I was not threatening the protestors. I was intending to get across to them the ultimate end of such paranoia. " Was my response as I stood at attention.
"A good answer, but not one to the question posed to you." She said, still staring me down.
"Your highness, if she wants to have war crimes committed, she has her own guard to say 'no' to her. I will happily protect you or your sister or Equestria with my life. Were I to do those things I threatened I would expect to be put down by my own ponies." I responded sharply.
"You know, Celestia wanted me to Punish you for putting the fear of Discord into the crowd, and punish you I will, for being out of uniform. You're wearing First Lieutenant's bars. That's a severe breach of uniform code, Captain Moonflower." She stated, smirking as she hoofed forward a box with rank insignia.
"You know she's going to be furious over this. Your Highness." I said, pinning on the new rank.
She grinned "And she'll promptly forget it when she sees I'm not in a sour mood anymore. Just don't take Ms Inkwell into Her bedchamber again."
Never Let it be said Her Highness Luna Fiendbane didn't have a ribald sense of Humor

I think the population has completely grown away from the scorn that the ponies of ancient times had for Luna. A thousand years ago is a long time and the debate on Princess Luna's character has long since died off. If she came back the ponies would look at her initially with curiosity rather than open animosity.
The proper reaction would be like watching Roman Emperor Nero come back from the dead, rather than Hitler. People would say: Isn't he the guy who burnt Rome because he wanted to build real estate for himself? People would be worried and distrustful but not particularly hateful from the get go.
Except those who know obscure history of course, like Twilight or Sunset Shimmer.
11856918
You're absolutely not wrong that 90% of Ponies would accept Her Highness without question. But it's my opinion that just enough wouldn't trust.
Besides, we already know that even the best Ponies can be suspicious superstitious folk? Or, to quote Bridle Gossip...
"She's an Evil Enchantress and She Does Evil Dances!"
Took the wisdom of Apple Bloom to get sense into the entire Mane Six and even all of Ponyville to keep them from acting like Blazing Saddles levels of Racism."
And let's not forget her reactions to the canonical Luna Eclipsed and how personally she took it. I admit to making a lot of assumptions based on the fact that we simply haven't seen the "Modern Equestria" at this point.
Honestly the text effects really distract from the story... they give me a headache trying to read them... could you use colors for them instead?
11856429
Yeah its pretty jarring, i feel like its pretty out of place considering how writing for the rest of the story has felt
11856360
11856370
11856472
11856488
11856363
Luna had said earlier that she didn't remember everything.
11856368
Thank you! I was going for the complete dichotomy!
11856385
No you're good. Even if there was a mass protest now, I'd have to stop posting the story to make the nessessary changes.
What is done, is done.
11856429
11857192
The memory sequence was never a coma.
It was Luna's life flashing before her eyes.
As for the coding and the effects... Yes. They're meant to be jarring. Because I'm showing just how chaotic it is in Luna's mind. Addionally; 11856473 and 11856485 are more correct than they know.
11856463
*devious Pony noises*
11856470
Oh you're going to like this next chapter...
In the immortal words of one Pinkimenia Diane Pie...
11856513
11856543
I'll have to look that up later...
y'know compare art pieces within the genre.
11856533
A fairly astute understanding.
But those aren't the only voices.
11856638
I'll be honest, if such a thing were to occur I'd probably just leave.
