Uh oh. Summer Glow is now a named character and a love interest. She's doomed.
Seriously though, given that we're closing in on the Hearth's Warming Miracle, and we've already learned a few things which give important context to Luna's current dilemma, whatever reveal is left must be big.
Possibly related; We still know very little about the nature of Luna's connection with the moon. We know that it, and the sun, have minds. They can communicate with Luna and Celestia clearly enough to teach them spells.
We know that Luna's instinctive reaction when she realized she was being sent directly to the moon was to panic and change course. Not sure if that's important, but I don't remember her regretting the decision.
We know that Luna's connection with Equestria's moon was too weak to sustain her after she burned up in Earth's atmosphere. We also know that she was trying to reach Earth's moon because she sensed something from it, but she got caught in Earth's gravity. Yet I don't think she's mentioned it since. Even if her memories of reaching Earth are still buried, she should have noticed whatever that was by now.
Given that there are sequels planned for this story, I wouldn't be surprised if things aren't resolved here. I have this mental image of Luna making contact with Earth's moon, drawing power from it, and just going to live on the moon's surface because she doesn't belong anywhere else and Celestia can't reach her there. Then the next story would pick up from somepony else's PoV.
When you mentioned that the ponies descended onto the monsters like locusts, I couldn't help but think of the scene in 'cloudy with a chance of meatballs' where the children chainsawed through a snowman, leaving behind only a sad smile.
Oh a herbivore is only a herbivore as long as meat isn't very convenient.

It's a joke about how your writing is so fire the paper is literally burning
I wonder if it's not a coincidence that Luna's mother and her new crush have the same last name...

Yeah almost exactly like that lol

Ah. Sorry, Moon Marked moment.

I will say there's a reason for that.

I hadn't even noticed that.
However I will say, "family names" aren't really a thing for Ponies, more like "family themes". So Nebula Glow and Summer Glow would be like two random people named John.
