Nightmare besto waifu. With a little bit of Sgt. Johnson vibe.
And luna….
I'm finding it impossible not to fully take Luna's side. Celestia treated her even worse than in canon, not only being inattentive but outright betraying her like she's Pony Big Boss.
In my opinion, Celestia outright started the fight- you state later on that the connection to a heavenly object is both an outright godly bond and the source of their immortality. With that in mind, is openly declaring your intentions to sever that connection not tantamount to a murder threat? Luna certainly went too far when she sold her soul for power and started ranting about eternal night, but Celestia? She told Luna in no uncertain terms she was effectively exiled at the minimum, with no trial, by a method that they both knew would mean her eventual death, in spite of them ostensibly being equals.
The nightmare so far is really just kind of a dick. It acts less like a traditional demon and more like... Luna's self-preservation given malevolent life? It spent their entire life just keeping Luna's identity intact where it could be recovered, psychically assaulting those Lucnas perceived as enemies, and idly remarking that Sarah is a little bitch whenever she does something bratty. Even the big evil moment in chapter 10 amounts to "Shoot back at that asshole who's firing at you!" yeah, REAL evil. Maybe if the nightmare were whispering "hey KILL THAT GUY he's looking at you funny DO IT DO IT DO IT HE'S A PIG CELESTIA WAS A PIG KILL HIM AND IT'S LIKE YOU'RE KILLING HER COME ON" but no, it's just encouraging return fire while being really weird and borderline fetishistic about it.
These aren't criticisms by the way- so far you've taken both Celestia's infuriating, self-assured aloofness and Luna's direct brutishness to their logical conclusions, and I'm invested in this story wherever you take it.
i wonder how or if luna is getting back to equis? cause i dont think earth is very safe....

im suspecting nightmare moon has changed. i mean she has been trapped in lucas head for years now so even just a little change is possible

Perhaps she is still going along with the show timeline and the mark on the moon was just an easy show for her to conclude but without it she doesn't have any other hope. So instead of knowing in the show timeline she hopes in the story timeline as otherwise she has cast her sister into space to die horribly
As long as this story is interesting, I will follow.
Alrighty, that police man is a goner.
Here's the thing. I know this Luna just had her world flipped upside down but... she's got it made. She's the only real winner in all of this nonsense. As someone who has wished and desired for this very sort of thing to happen to me, I can say that she has almost the best possible case scenario here. There is nothing for her to return to, nor would a return trip even be feasible at this time. Additionally, she not only kept the lionshare of her powers, but she was even given a completely fresh life in a new place where the very concept of magic is exclusively a fantasy. Even if there are some humans in this reality that know the secrets of magic, they are doing so well at keeping it under wraps that Luna could easily just slot into a niche. And now that her powers are unlocked and she remembers at least a fraction of the power she wields, all she has to do is go to a remote place, magic up a shelter, find a nearby river, create a little aqueduct to get fresh water, and then either cultivate or gather food. Then, with her needs addressed, she can focus on transmutation magic, which we know is a thing in canon from Twilight transforming frogs and birds into fruit, make a human disguise, and slot right back into human society.
The elements heard her pleas and despair, and in turn sent her somewhere she can literally thrive.
Meanwhile, Equestria and Celestia are screwed. Every future where Twilight doesn't get buddy buddy with her friends results in doom.
No Nightmare Moon, no elements of harmony, Twilight bails on the first train out of town or dies in the forest.
Good job Celly.
