Seeing Luna lead this battle somehow reminds me of when Celestia briefly manifested wings when defending Ùllahdmaiden.
Given how Luna was still an excellent military commander at the time of the betrayal, I have to wonder when and how Celestia went from "The Aegis of Ùllahdmaiden" to... whatever you can call somepony who betrays her own sister and co-ruler for such flimsy reasons.

Flimsy has far as we know.

I'd argue that if Celestia had a good reason, she'd have mentioned it when she had the chance.
She would have known from her encounter with Luna in her dreams that Luna was in no mood for excuses. So by the time of their last encounter, Celestia had plenty of time to plan out what she was going to say, knowing she'd be lucky if Luna would listen to the first word out of her mouth.
Instead of saying anything like "I was tricked," or "I was under a spell," or even "Discord made me do it," she said "I thought you were going to betray me."
Celestia, the incorrigible diplomat, opened a negotiation by saying "you looked like the villain, so I attacked pre-emptively."
Since you're the author, I'd be willing to take your word that it's not the case, but I can't imagine that Celestia had any good reason for what she did to Luna that she wouldn't immediately try to explain at the earliest opportunity.
