It was with trepidation that I accepted the request of my guardsponies and of Pale Wing's mate, and some short nights after our return to Canterlot, found myself in a clearing in a cavern near the Sarosian part of the city, surrounding a bonfire. Pale Wing's own mate, Dusk Hearth, bade me sit, as she called those gathered to silence.
"For many generations, We have known that there were precious few we could trust. Nopony saw us as equals, save precious few but The Queen of the Night herself. But always there were some few." She said, producing a needle and ink. "Those who stood by our kind in the darkest of nights, shed their blood and fought with us as sisters and brothers."
She stopped and looked me in the eye. "Further still, were those outsiders that were there when we spend our last moments under the Moon. These precious few are offered the highest of gifts. To you ponies, we offer membership in the clan. Harmony Muse, will you join yourself to the Sarosians, will our joys become your joys, our fights become your fights, our pains become your pains?
I thought about this for a moment. A short moment, but without hestitation responded "What I know of Your people I know of the Ponies who have fought and bled with me. As far as I am concerned, we are already family in spirit, this is mere formailty."
A thunderous cheer rose up from the assembled Ponies as Dusk Hearth went to work inking an elaborate Tattoo over my eye and the side of my face.
Over the course of the two hours she worked, I felt many heart felt hoof bumps on my back welcoming me to the tribe.
After she finished, I was further welcomed to a feast in my honor, attended, no surprised, by Her Highness, who was sporting her own ink. She held a hoof to her muzzle and gave me a wink as I noticed her.
During the Festivities, Dusk Hearth again called the party to quiet, and made another announcement.
"Ah, yes, I forgot one final tradition. When one is inducted, we also give them a new name, that we call you privately. Can anypony think of a good name for our new brave guardspony?
Her Highness, a smirk on her muzzle, spoke up. "There is the Datura flower."
"M-moonflower, your Highness?" I asked.
"Yes, and one of the most lethal of pretty things, as are all of us here, including you. It suits." She said, that same smirk of mischief.
It was from then on, at least among the Sarosians and my Princess, that I became known as Datura Moonflower. The party continued well unto the crack of dawn, though I don't remember much past my own naming, save waking up back in the castle wrapped around a mare I'd never met and rather the wrong Princess staring down at me with a stony glare.
Note to self: Sarosian liquor should be set aside as a sleep aid if not knock out medicine. It certainly helped when scrubbing down the entirety of the royal wing's hallways with my own toothbrush.

I lost track. That fire Luna leapt through... would it, perchance, be the very same fire that Clover, Pansy, and Smart Cookie were gathered around? That would certainly qualify as a "Fire of Friendship".
I can imagine that, even as Luna proves herself a capable warrior, Celestia might not be able to bring herself to acknowledge it as a positive thing. From Celestia's point of view, Luna is developing a habit of leaping before she looks, taking risks without considering the consequences of failure. Whereas in reality, Luna has determined that the cost of failure and the cost of inaction are about the same, therefore she must act as soon as possible.
Given how far back Celestia's negativity towards Luna appears to go, I struggle to imagine how they could ever talk things through without it taking up an entire fic. And that wouldn't really be a good story, itself. Maybe unless it took the form of a public trial? I could see Luna demanding such a thing to drag the truth out that Celestia has hidden and/or forgotten, and make sure everypony knows.
Luna was able to kill it cause she's the main character!
Haha, just joking around. I am interested in learning more about all this!~

Discord already made that joke!

No it was not the fire that Cookie, Clover, and Pansy first met Luna. It was one of the big bonfires made after it started snowing.
