Twilight has made a shocking discovery about one of her friends, one that could spell disaster for all of Ponyville, or even all of Equestria.

But it probably won't.

That was strangely delightful.

I've seen stories of "X is a changeling, and so is almost everypony else" before. Doesn't matter, this one is still fun.

Interesting enough, if a little ham fisted at points.

Just one plot hole though:
Is Starlight Glimmer is a changeling... why did shy need to paint an equals sign over her cutie mark? Surely she could have just changed it.

7394970 Another plot hole:

If all changelings can 'sense' each other when they are near each other, then wouldn't Pinkie and maybe even Fluttershy know that Twilight was right about Cadance actually being Queen Chrysalis? Also the future ruined world with Chrysalis ruling wouldn't work, because Pinkie would immediately know who was a changeling at all times.

Ignoring those things though, this was nice and cute.

Oh god, ANOTHER one of these? :facehoof:

7394992 Maybe... they said they could sense other changelings near by, not necessarily who they are or their intentions but it certainly is sketchy territory.

great story :pinkiehappy:

Dramatic flair.
7394992
Queen privilege? She can mask her junk. Or something.

Or we can make like Elsa and just let it go and have fun here.

Error:Storyy is made Infinitron.exe confused.
Explain so I can understand.

This explains a lot, but not everything, about pinkie :pinkiegasp:

This story has one good idea hidden in it and the rest of it isn't anything special. It seems far too similar to every other “Would It Matter” rip off/parody. The one good idea was Fluttershy being part Changeling – it actually would explain Flutterbat. That spell was only supposed to affect the mind, but for a Changeling, the mind and emotions affect the body.

I know other people have made this point more eloquently than me, but Twilight and the other ponies of Canterlot don't hate Changelings “for no good reason.” As Twilight herself pointed out, the queen impersonated one of their princesses, brainwashed the captain of the guard and would have married him against his will, and her followers attacked the city. And this was the only exposure of Changelings that Twilight and a lot of other ponies had. It's understandable that it would take them some time to learn that not all Changelings are bad.

“Why are all these pictures of me in the tub?”

I need details.

I love the part about Pinkie! Of course, sweets still taste good!

7394992 Except, they'd never met Princess Cadance before, so all that sense would tell them is that Cadance was secretly a changeling too.

7398417

Yeah, see there were only three alicorns at the time and none of them are changlings. I think they'd all know something was up.

7399294 But considering that every changeling they know of has been undercover so far, how would they know for sure that none of the three alicorns was secretly a changeling too?

7399305 Well...
See the thing is, we know Cadance isn't an Changling. She's an alicorn. thus none of the alicorns are changlings. Then we have Twilight saying how "That's not Cadance" While it COULD be Pinkie and Fluttershy just thinking "Well maybe she just hasn't seen her in so long" The fact that they'd know right away that Cadance was a changling should cause them to question if maybe something was up.

A. Twilight their best friend says Cadance isn't acting like herself.
B. Pinkie, who knows every birthday of every pony/mule/etc in ponyville, also knows that Cadance is a Changling at that point, and given everything she knows, you want me to believe she DIDN'T know that one of the three princess alicorns wasn't actually a changling? She wouldn't even question Celestia about it?

It just seems a bit too far fetched, so no I'm calling plot hole.

Edit: Crap, guess you can only put so much behind the spoil tag

7399315 You've got half a good point there. I still wouldn't say Twilight would necessarily have known if Cadance were secretly a changeling - especially when she's just revealed she didn't know Cadance's full name, but her saying that Cadance wasn't acting like herself should've at least raised their suspicions.

(Maybe try starting a second spoiler tag; would that help?)

7399344

I did, Instead it just showed the code and didn't actually put the spoiler black boxes over the text. Sucks.

7395218 Because everyone loves to downplay the changelings evilness in some Draco in Leather Pants situation, not to mention it tends to hit the feature box quite a bit.

Opening her mouth wide, Fluttershy pointed to one of her fangs. “See? I know it’s not really big and it’s the only physical thing that’s like a changeling, but it’s still there.”

Of course! Why didn't I think of that?

I reviewed this story as part of Read It Now Reviews #89.

Like "Feeling Pinkie Keen"?

Serial spoilersworkjustfine
Nested spoilers do not

An entire species being evil does not mesh well with the show's themes of love and tolerance. It's entirely reasonable that Canterlot's populace hate the changelings if their only contact is that act of war.

7698228
Okay, so how do you do serial spoilers? Obviously if I knew how to do that I would have. Pointing out a working method without explaining it, isn't very helpful. :/

7698253

Sorry, used to fora where hitting quote lets you actually access someone else's raw post, code and all. Thought there was some means of quoting someone else's text here too without c+p.
[ spoiler ] some

text [ /spoiler ] works (one spoiler tag begins, then ends, then the other begins, then ends: they are serial, one after the other…hmm, not finding a dictionary where it's very-simply defined like that…)
some text
[ spoiler ] some [ spoiler ] other [ /spoiler ] text [ /spoiler ] does not work (the first spoiler tag begins, the second spoiler tag begins nested inside it, and doesn't work…the first end-tag happens and ends the spoiler, and the second has no spoiler, then, to end, so just appears as text:)
some other text

So, was that supposed to read somewhat as an allegory to gay acceptance (what with the 10% statistic, and the 'changelings know other changelings' thing), which would make that last joke about Twilight spying on Starlight in the bath a little more clever, or am I just projecting?

7698228 It's more that most stories gladly downplay the changelings evil to play up the fact that Ponies are even more evil/xenophobic, and thus deserved the Canterlot attack.

7698798
I haven't seen any works like that yet. Many saying that Chrysalis is justified in wanting to secure food for her swarm…

but none with the followup, that the attack would not be a problem making them hated because hey, with enough power to beat Celestia, mindwiping a cityful of ponies of an attack would be easy, wouldn't it? Which is what everyone complains about, that that would make love scarce…

I've even seen some saying that they were an answer to the pre-Unification tribalism, being able to fill in for any in exchange for a little friendship…but, with the tribalism, nobody accepted that, so…

This is one of the better "supposedly serious bombshell is ripped to shreds" stories out there.

Yes that ending lol loved it
