This story is a sequel to Prince Blueblood Wants His Wings Back

Technically a prequel, but shh
While it is true that alicorns can be made, sometimes they are born. If a true alicorn, whose title has been rightfully earned, takes a lover who has seen the darkest truths of the universe and yet still has strength to smile, and their passion is more true than the universe itself, an alicorn might be born. The chances of such an event are so small that they make a million-to-one chance look like a sure thing.

But still, there are miracles. Sometimes an alicorn, with all the trappings of the three races, is born unto this world. It is around such beings that the universe inevitably turns. Even if they find themselves... reduced.

This is the story of Prince Blueblood the First. It is also the story of Prince Blueblood the Thirty-Fourth, and all of the Bluebloods in between.

A Blueblood story that paints him as an ageless alicorn, I like it!

7034973 So glad to hear that!

Huh, usually dislike Blueblood, but this time want more. Good job.

7035032 Glad to hear that you enjoyed it.

And now I have to headcanon a way to make his wings go away, to never appear again. Bravo! :rainbowkiss:

The idea of Prince Blueblood being an alicorn sounds like one that is to be played for laughs (as in the original story), but I really like your take on it here. Blueblood actually feels like a thousand year old noble who's jaded to all hell and struggling with an incomplete body - which was also a really great explanation of why he hates mud and dirt, too.

Honestly it's got me wanting more, even though I know it's highly unlikely.

7038512 Highly unlikely, yes. But not impossible.

Prince Bulk Biceps?

7042026 Nah, he takes after his mother. Why else would a pony with his wingspan try to join the Wonderbolts?

Good story, It would be good to see a reunion between Bulk and BB

So I plan to give my thoughts on this later when I'm not using a phone to type, but I wanted to quickly take a moment to say that this story was wonderful.

Wow. You really ran with that story's idea. c.c

Well, let me tell you, I was really not expecting something as in-depth as this to come from its predecessor story. Not at all. And yet, this totally works! ^.^ I really like what you've done with the guy, and it explains a lot about him. Not much to complain about in the story either, but I'm sure if I try hard enough... Ah, yes. Character arc. Blueblood doesn't really have any transformative change from the beginning of the story to the end. That's not a big thing to complain about when a story is this short and the end is predetermined anyway, but it's something, and I do think it contributes to a sense of this story not really going anywhere in particular. Plenty of story, but not much of a plot. That said, this is still a wonderful examination of his character!

Here's a review of your story on The Goodfic Bin

7301942 I do love how your review is phrased in such a way that you make me sound like a super-passionate Blueblood fan, and a small error implies that I have written multiple stories about him.

I don't usually make comments on the story itself unless it's for the sake of pointing out grammatical errors, because I don't think I can actually trust myself to give out constructive feedback, but I'll try my best here.

Here we go.

To begin with, this is the type of story that I can enjoy. The type where a character is taken through a series of events, whether mundane or exciting and seeing how they react to it, including their thoughts and physical reactions. And it was executed very well here. I especially liked the part where Blueblood reacts to the gust of wind and how it feels against his body, reminding him of what he had lost and showing us how he reacts to the setback.

As for the rest of the monologue throughout the entire story, it gives us a sense of how he reacts to daily life with the cynical, jaded attitude that he has, helped by the way you have, like I said earlier, described his physical, emotional and mental reactions to each and every event that occurs.

There's probably more, though, but it's midnight where I am and my brain isn't at its peak condition. Great work and I hope to see more of your works in the future.

7377405 You're pretty good at long-ish comments. You should do that more often.

Hmmm, 'Equish', huh? That's the first time I have ever heard of it being used as a replacement for English. Sounds oddly good too.

Anyways, this is such an interesting story! I have this sudden urge to read moar Blueblood now :rainbowderp:

7382770 Feels weird to want more Blueblood, doesn't it?

The question is, what kind of Blueblood story do you want?

7382855

Something in the style of this would be pretty good!

7382940 I meant in terms of subject matter.

7382960

Hmm, ok then. Honestly, I would really enjoy a story going into the relationship between Bulk Biceps and Blueblood, or maybe even how Blueblood managed to make everypony think that he was an entire family line (Did I miss something in the story about how he managed it?) Or mayybe him getting his wings back? I haven't read the other story yet (Prince Blueblood Wants His Wings Back), so maybe I'm a little behind on the plot of this series.

Is that what you meant by subject matter? Sorry, I'm kinda slow...

7383038 I'd recommend the other story if you want something that's a radically different tone, from a radically different author.

For the answer to how he tricked Equestria into thinking he was an entire family line, it's very simple; nobody gives a shit about Blueblood.

7383056

Huh. Okay, I'll check the other story out then.

...and I can imagine Blueblood dying a little on the inside if he ever reads your comment.

Nah, who am I kidding? He'll probably implode and rip a huge fucking hole in reality.

7383073 More likely just hire a hitpony and then mope.

This was an amazing continuation/prequel of Prince Blueblood Wants His Wings Back and it presents, what I feel, is logical reasoning for his behavior. What I loved most were the descriptions of how the three tribes affected him. From the very powerful arcane of the unicorns to the highly detailed notes about the earth ponies, all were beautiful. But the longing you gave us, to me, trumps them all. Even now, 8 hours after I read it, the thing that sticks out the most is his longing and desire to be back in the air. Even describing the breeze brushing against him as a lovers touch was masterfully done.

I for one, would love to see more stories of this Blueblood and see what other authors can do with it. I thoroughly enjoyed your take on it and am happy to add it to my favorites.

Totally didn't get that was Bulk Biceps until the comments, but this is a cool explanation! And Sad Alicorn Blueblood is Sad.

Does he keep the same family of maids and stuff for his whole life? So he knew that maid's mother and grandmother personally?

Makes me feel the weight of ages and yearn to go up and away.

I like this story and idea.

I may toy with it sometime in the future.

This canon is great, makes you really feel for ol' bluey
