She's looking at you. Yes you. And she is judging you with her eyes. There is no escape.

Ummmmm, ok. Let's see where this goes!

Not sure where it's headed from here, but I like it!

The only thing I can say is...

Dammit, Kudz. :pinkiehappy:

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

~Crystalline Electrostatic~

I am afraid to say he's boned.......because it might come true. :rainbowwild:

I'm so-so on this interpretation of Twilight Sparkle. While I might be able to understand the banishment, in reality this is a direct failing of her as the Princess of Friendship/Magic, both interpretations of that. Obviously, a lack of learning control is a major theme, and Twilight herself had surges when she was younger again because of lack of control. She should know that merely telling him to use no magic whatsoever is not a solution at all.

Is there a reason she is tagged in this story? I assume she'll be showing up more later to justify it, since otherwise it's basically a cameo.

I'm going to assume this is basically a wandering clop plot after that buzzkill of an opening. His magic is very weird after all, and will always do the most amusing thing, even if it's at his expense, since no one else is around. Especially so now.

Twilight Sparkle will in fact be a regular semi-regular character. But I cannot say more because that would be spoiling stuff.

No. This is not a clop fic.

http://www.fimfiction.net/blog/488697/so-the-weed-has-sprouted

Read that to understand what is going on.

Eventually, there will be others around. This will be the story of Tarnish trying to find his place in the world, growing up, learning to live with his own magic pranking him and others, and then making peace with himself.

And Twilight Sparkle will actually play a significant role in this story... and I really want to tell you how, but that would be spoiling it. :raritydespair:

Welp. That's what he gets for invoking Murphy's Law, I suppose.

I am now traumatised

Part of me keeps wanting to think Discord had a lovechild in the past that he never knew about.

Not possible, but certainly plausible in my mind.

I look forward to what else can go wrong. :pinkiecrazy:

That is one hell of a way to start your life and a banished pony... Getting molested by a manticore

Well this is an interesting way to start off my morning but in any case I look forward to seeing where this goes.

... OK then XD You spelled thicket wrong m8, just thought I'd point that out. Uh, let's see... From my understanding of your blog, the audience is supposed to give suggestions as to where the story goes, and atm I don't see any of that in the comments :/ Just, "I can't wait to see where this goes". So, I guess I'll take a shot at it.

He probably wants to get cleaned. So, he can either stumble across the mirror pool, or go to the river. He could maybe... Have an accident at the river that causes him to be swept further away from Ponyville.

Is this kind of what you were looking for?

In time, as the story develops a bit more.

Tarnished Teapot, did you recover the saddlebag that was tossed aside?

6012689

Tarnished Teapot, did you recover the saddlebag that was tossed aside?

You mean the one in the manticore lair?

NO WAY... I got out of there before she changed her mind.

Tarnished, where are you exactly?

6012715

Tarnished, where are you exactly?

I don't know. On the road.

Tarnished, are there any edible plants nearby that you know of?

Tarnished, is the effect of your magic permanent unless dispelled, or does it fade over time?

6012870

(Author) That's not the sort of question I can answer.

6012874

Tarnished, is the effect of your magic permanent unless dispelled, or does it fade over time?

It fades over time.

6012877 Because it's irrelevant to the story?
Or because it's VERY relevant and thus a spoiler?

Tarnished, since your magic fades does that mean the manticore will eventually want you as a meal rather than as a friend?

6012891

Because it becomes too meta. The story will be told when I release a chapter.

6012906

Tarnished, since your magic fades does that mean the manticore will eventually want you as a meal rather than as a friend?

Yes, which is why I must be going.

Suggestion for Tarnished:

Keep the musk on until you've safely exited the forest since it seems effective at repelling predators.

After you're safe, find an isolated body of water to wash off. If you try to approach anyone beforehand you'll just scare them off.

I wonder though, that manticore was awfully quick to find him after he was banished.

I find it beyond coincidence that she just HAPPENED to be there, attacking so soon after Tarnished was alone.

Also, Twilight seemed a bit out of character, but not in writing. More specifically, like she was following a suggestion from someone else, i.e. get Tarnished banished to fit in someone else's plan.

Because Tarnished has a point, the Mane 6 have inflicted a lot of damage and they weren't banished.

For the tl;Dr crowd, I think there is more going on than we can see.

6013031

Tarnish's magic makes ponies behave funny... go figure.

And Twilight was behaving funny...

6013033 Ah, I didn't realize his magic had a passive effect.

6013037

Think of it more as a residual effect leftover from when he surged.

I like where this is going.

To Tarnished Teapot:
Hello Tarnish, nice to meet you. A small question - were you born in Ponyville? What about your parents?

I was born in Ponyville. My mother's name is Pinny Lane and she's a professional bowler. I don't know who my father is, but I suspect that he might be part of the bowler crowd.

She was in Canterlot for a tournament when I was banished. I never got to say goodbye.

Ouch, that's harsh. How was your relationship with her?
You should write her a letter as soon as possible. She'll be worried sick, even in case you weren't that close. I'm sure she will be happy about a piece of paper she can hold onto.

We didn't talk much. She never told me who my father was... and she was always gone. These things put a strain on our relationship. I suppose she had to pay the rent somehow. We didn't get along, but saying goodbye might have been nice.

Hmm.... I can't really think of anything to suggest etc.
Keep a look out for water I guess XD
Good luck m8

Tarnish, how did you get your cutie curse? In a moment of a surge or else?

onward to new adventures! hopefully there won't be diamond dogs on the road...

Okay, interesting enough to follow. Not sure if I like it yet.

Mostly because I had one of those "the typo...the typo..." sort of horrors in my head the whole time.

one hundred and ninety one charges of mayhem,

"Mayhem" in a legal context is a LOT worse than in a general context. The google dictionary (first one that popped up and since it's accurate enough...) says "the crime of maliciously injuring or maiming someone, originally so as to render the victim defenseless." The shorthand definition I picked up in criminal law class was "the guy chops off your arm." All I know is if anyone actually HAD 191 counts of mayhem...forget banishment, that's an execution worthy, (or "truck him off to Arkham Assylum" worthy) amount of criminal activity. Jason Voorhees would be proud.

So, yeah, I'd change that.:pinkiehappy:

6013531

Tarnish, how did you get your cutie curse? In a moment of a surge or else?

I sneezed.

6014100

For Twilight, having her horn go limp, get covered in blue spots, and rendering her magically inert is maiming.

For Spittie Pie, being only able to spit and beatbox as a form of communication is maiming.

"Pegasi not flying, unicorn magic failing, and earth ponies losing their strength," is what Twilight said.

Is a pegasus who can't fly maimed?

So far he is quite a nice character. A walking sod's law/murphy's law/walking apocalypse. Makes me wonder what happens if he touch a poison joke. Does he become normal or turn into something worse?
For some reason i feel like he could be useful for the law enforcement, since he is able to screw abilities just with his presence, thus confusing the criminals.:pinkiehappy:

And a question for him: -Why did you started your journey to the everfree and not to go on a safer path? You are only banned from Ponyville and Canterlot, you could go just about any direction instead of the everfree forest, and get a much more enjoyable trip

6014384

Tarnish: I never went into the Everfree... what are you talking about? I followed the southern road that lies along the border.

6014388
My bad, i thought manticore's natural habitat was in that forest, so i assumed you went there

I could see our wayward adventurer getting hired by a Casino in Las Pegasus.
He's basically a bad luck magnet, with a bit of refinement, he might be able to tune that into a talent for moving odds where he wants them to go.
Provided this is a story where Bucky hasn't blown it up yet of course. :ajsmug:

6014384 If he touches poison joke everything stays normal. The poison joke is a part of his talent and nothing can stop that.

Tarnished, can you find a place to wash?

Even if Dodge City is a rough-and-tumble place, you'd be better off not smelling all smelly.

6016603

(Author) Give him time...

Well, this is certainly intriguing. Definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Tarnished, did anypony (or Discord) ever try to help you control your magic?
