Then it all came crashing down as the insidious Checker Monarch's web of deception was pulled away, revealing a sociopathic monster willing to torment her own family if it got her what she wanted.

Not only did Diamond Tiara see a pony she admired fall from grace, she witnessed something far worse. Her potential future self. The monster she could be if nothing changed.

Can Diamond Tiara change the winds of fate and alter her future? Or will the nightmare the monstrous Checker Monarch unleashed be repeated?

But, is this a final goodbye..?

This is a short series, of Anon having little cute moments with each of the mane six.

The changeling princess known as Twilight Sparkle is ecstatic. Her mother is giving her a chance to save the hive! All she needs to do is evaluate the efficiency of friendship as a food source! Perhaps she can even prove that a changeling can be friends with ponies without having to use a disguise!
But when the reigning monarch of Equestria disappears, the young princess finds herself facing something she's only heard about in legends.
And what about that mystery hive that's been destroying other hives with reckless abandon?

Prompts were: vibrant vestigial, vexing volcano, verdant vegetable. Pretty insane for prompts, but Xepher had to pronounce all the Aztec words in my story so I think we're even.

What is a pony? If asked that question the average citizen of Equestria would probably respond with a confused look and a mention of the three pony tribes. A particularly astute pony might reply with four tribes, remembering to include the Thestrals. A pony of a scholarly disposition may also add a list of characteristics as well - manes, cutie marks, some form of innate magic, hooves, vegetarian diet, etc. This is the answer that would have been received for thousands of years, from before the unification of the three tribes until very recently. Until the failed Changeling invasion. With the reveal of something so foreign, yet at the same time so familiar, what it means to be a pony is no longer quite so clear and obvious. And while professors and philosophers argue, another question is forgotten in the uproar: What if the Changelings weren't the only ones who were hiding?
