Hearth's Warming Eve has arrived at Sweet Apple Acres with the usual flurry of snow, mirth, and frenzied preparations, but all seems to be well as Big Macintosh settles down for the night. The house has been cleaned—ready to be buried under a mound of colourful scraps and sweet crumbs—the farm is enjoying one of its brief periods of rest, and the most precious things in his life are snugly tucked up in bed, ready for a day of hard-earned merriment to come. All is well.

And then Dash says two words.

Everyone has read a million ship fics by now, and if you haven't you should because the ones that are done right are amazing. This is my take on one of my favorite ships, and really that's all you need to know.

Love isn't for him. The young dragon, surrounded by mares, know that none will become his one. Yet it's often when we stop chasing something that it comes to us. Twilight and Starlight pine for the same heart, devising a game for it to win it.

May the best mare win.

Twilight Sparkle regrets botching her romantic confession to Rarity. As a joke, Rarity proposes a simple and elegant solution: break up and try it again.

She just wasn't prepared for Twilight to agree to it.

Set after “Practice Makes Perfect”. It is not necessary in any way to have read that story to get this one.

Faced with the implications and changes brought about by Twilight's coronation, Rarity must contend with what it might mean for their relationship. A relationship, you see, that lives and dies by the dozens of books quietly stashed away in the back of her closet. 

One day, she hopes, she'll be able to give them back.

Returning from a diplomatic summit, Princess Rarity's party is attacked by bandits. Upon returning home, she demands why her bodyguard Twilight had seen fit to shove her into the river during the fight.

When she learns why, she is taken aback, learning for the first time the role that Twilight had undertaken.

Rainbow Dash’s guilty pleasure is Twilight. Even if she hates herself for it. Even if she knows it’s wrong.
