This story is a sequel to The Queen and I, Book 2: People and Problems

Chrysalis had always been taught that a leader should push forward; no matter the setback, no matter the defeat, a strong leader rallies their subjects. They do this because their subjects are helpless without them; without guidance and inspiration, society would fail, and it is that threat which motivates a leader to greatness.

What, then, should be done when a society moves on, no longer needing their leader? What should a leader do if they've become more of a burden than a boon to their own people?

Perhaps how they answer that question is the real measure of a leader's worth.

The Elements are sent as backup to help solve the mystery of the changeling's purpose in the wasteland that was Flutter Valley.
With Cadence, Shining Armor and a contingent of guardsponies will they be able to sort things out peacefully or will Cadence's resentment of Chrysalis lead to war against thousands of changeling drones?
What of the fabled and long dead sunstone, said to have the ability to radiate warmth and love if only it wasn't cursed right along with the valley itself?

Admittedly it's a bit of a G1 crossover, and my first pony fic besides. Try not to hold that against it. I feel the mythology of the sunstone was inadequately explored and I rather felt that the changelings might make good use of such an item.

This will be four chapters, about 10,000 words each and will NOT be abandoned before completion, Pinkie promise.

This story is a sequel to Peace at Last Shorts: Taking Time Off

It started as a typical day, finishing a scheduled afternoon tea and discussion with Princess Celestia and then exploring the castle.

Chrysalis WASN'T expecting to find a magic mirror. She CERTAINLY didn't expect to repair a broken link connecting her world to another universe. And she DEFINITELY didn't mean to drag her counterpart from said universe into Canterlot and accidentally break the mirror.

Can Duchess Chrysalis fit in and adapt to an Equestria different from her own? Can Queen Chrysalis find a way to fix the mirror and send her back? Can Stag survive an onslaught of cuddling from both versions of his mom?

Who knows, probably, but we'll just need to see.

Staghorn is Chrysalis's second youngest child (don't let that description fool you, he has a wife and two kids about the same age as Applebloom) and is next in line for the throne. he is as smart as a whip and he has a big heart. so it's no surprise that when his mother comes home, he has a plan. a crazy, insane Plan. But is Peace really an option?

(First two chapters are a little rushed, sorry)

Thorax is a junior processor, class Q, and has lived his entire life in the hive, yet he dreams of things bigger. Grander. Much more important than watching pH levels in vats all day. Wouldn't you know it, his application to the espionage services gets accepted, too! Maybe he really is going places!
Except he nearly flunked the exam, and knows nothing of the outside world. Regardless, Queen Chrysalis charges him with a very important mission: Spying on the inhabitants of Ponyville, especially Twilight Sparkle.
Nothing, of course, goes right after that.
