What I love about this is that if this was one of my stories, Davenport would be so OOC. It's interesting for me to read other people's uses of him that don't portray him as a womanizing, profit-obsessed, functional alcoholic like I do.

It was quite cute, and I only wish guys were more decent like Davenport where I live; he doesn't hide that he finds her cute, or tries to act all, uh, "swagger"-ish (ugh, just writing that made me want to smack myself). He does something to make her feel good for the holiday. That's all a girl wants. To feel sort loved on this day, even if they before hated it. I wish there was more to it, obviously, but that just shows how much I enjoyed it.

Truthfully I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did! For just one thousand something word I loved it! The only thing was I'm not a fan of twiluna shipping. But that wasn't very relavent to the story so I didn't mind. And when I hear the name Davenport I instantly think LOST but I dont remember why.

This one's a simple one, and boy oh boy after reading the heinously bad "To the Beat of Love", I'm glad I actually read a fic where everypony acts like... y'know, PEOPLE.
I'm not really a fan of Twiluna... or LyraXBonBon. So I rolled my eyes at it. (Simply hanging out together doesn't mean they're dating. GRAHHHH WHY CAN'T TWO PEOPLE OF THE SAME GENDER JUST BE FRIENDSSS GRRARRRRRARRRAAARRRHHHHH)
Then again, that's what you get when a show has a mostly female cast with most of the fandom being a buncha 20 somethings with their heads up their asses. I probably shouldn't leave that statement in my post, but shit, someone has to say it. Maybe I'm just tired of shipping in general. Who knows.
But besides that, this quick, simple little fic hits a lot of notes right. First, the pacing is brisk and to the point. Character dialogue is believable, and character interaction is engaging. When Roseluck and Twi converse, the reader can imagine a similar conversation occuring in real life. I kind of wish there was some more inner monologue from Rose's perspective. Like, is there a reason she hates H&H? It's one thing to feel lonely around the holiday, but it's a holiday in which everyone buys all the red roses. She's making some good money here.
But money can never fill a void as empty as me.
...Shut up, Rose, you depress me. And don't even gripe about all those couples making out back there. Or about how hard you tried to get guys to notice you. Or about how you've never had anypony for H&H. Like, ever.
