as the old saying goes No battle plan ever survives contact with the enemy., be interesting to see if this happen to halim
How many chapters long will this story be?
Hope all of the undesirable factors clash and weaken each other before Verik's operation. one thing I have been hoping to see but haven't yet, in the early chapters there were mentions of zebra's facing so much dispair that they snap and harm those around them, yet even with the amount of sheer horror and hopelessness of what some of these have to live with I don't think I've read of one snapping and trying to bite Fareeds or some others throat out.
I hope we get to see some of the antagonist's plans hit some road bumps or difficulties some time soon, they just seem over powered and infallible.
Ok, will someone tell what is happening right now? Cause I'm not only confused, but I was hoping for to see more of Verik. And who the heck is Nawra again? I can't remember.

You will find out, there are more chapters about him planned but it is not only Halim who is facing a battle.

Not going to give anything away but Fareed is a hard target surrounded by palace walls, layers of elite bodyguards and does not leave his abode. The overwhelming amount of powerful individuals in the world never do unless they first stack things in their favor and even then only briefly, trying to get at Fareed would be like trying to assault the pope, the old bitch of England or el presidente in Washington. Keep in mind your weapon is a dagger, not a gun! They also have more pointy bits than you and outnumber you assuming you ever made it over the walls. Of course this would be an example of someone thinking clearly and taking their aggression out on a logical target. Nuru did explain it was not a common occurrence though, most are so beaten down they just whimper and hide while hoping to all the gods their family will be spared. The higher ups have terror and guards on their side.
Power gives a pretty good illusion of infallibility, however Fareed has already hit snags: bandits hit the wrong caravan, he has actually lost half the battles his armies engaged in with Tuli being the only real claim to fame he has. I wrote in snags but did not show most of them, decided to hint at them instead. As the chapters keep going this will change because we are beyond the point of talking about the past and now dealing with the present time. Halim though... He is more "new" on the scene and this is his first actual showing of strength and ability, in the chapter where he speaks with his dying father it is silently admitted that despite their planning and best efforts the overall war effort up until now has been a draw for the most part as neither side has gained ground, but Halim did emerge victorious on the field of battle. He won the battle but the war was a stalemate, this is not in the story. His entire effort right now is to bypass this because another head on collision will get neither side anywhere.
Still, I do want some to hold the "air" of infallibility, namely when it comes to Fareed in particular, after all his throne depends on scaring the hell out of everyone. Also keep in mind that most of Fareed's wars were external while Halim has been fighting a tug of war with Bwani. I could probably ramble on all day but making them appear powerful was my goal while in fact no one is, the problem is making certain to drop hints here and there to that effect without saying "they died" and not giving anything away anything else before its due time.
Just remember: When you are at the bottom of the shit pile looking up the guy four rungs up looks like a formidable opponent for the power he wields over you, while the one at the top appears to be nothing less than a god. After all... These are sultans, kings, queens and princes, not petty chieftains. Balancing this though is a bitch when it comes to writing the story, I cant have them just roll over or else it would be pointless but then again if they are too strong... Thus my difficulty.
About the "snapping" bit, that was actually just a minor detail within the overall story planning. Did not actually expect someone to take so much interest in such a small blip on the radar.

my thoughts exactly.

You are correct, there ARE a good deal of stupid people who do not THINK things through out there, and mores the pity that they do not endeavor to IMPROVE their understanding.
That's why I tend to ignore such people where feasible (obviously I have to act differently at work, but groceries tend to be pretty neutral in my experience). I say ignore because if you try to point things out they win by default.

Halim I kinda enjoy reading with Verik a close second, I mean Halim is the non-biological son of the king so he was taught everything both the king and his advisers no, it's less that he is OP and more that he was prepared of any possibility in their world - both technologically and landscape - that was possible... though once he encounters Verik, he'll meet a possibility he never expected.
Caught up.

Not exactly one of those stories you force yourself to read in order to get caught up but okay... So, what do you think so far?
9967241
Your story happened to be on top of the other stories that were updated, with yours being the most recent. So no, there was no forcing myself to catch up on it or anything. I actually took my time as I only read parts of a chapter at a time then stopped for the night before bedtime. Only time when I actually read a whole chapter or three is when I have the free time.
As for my thoughts on the story, it's quite an entertaining, yet very foreboding read, especially with so many antagonists involved. It leaves me anticipating for more updates as well as concerns that Verik might be in over his head once he really get started on his little "conquest".

When your the minnow in a pond of very old and matured sharks.

Hopefully he hits fast and hard. Even a shark can die, for if a shark is traped and can't move it will drown.
