i hope Shahid lives for many years so he can tell the story of Veriks exploits just like Asha did. Lets Veriks Tale be turned into legend.
Yeeees gooood More Warlording to do
That ending scene... DAAAWWWWWWW!!
Sorry to hear your week is shite. Hopefully it picks up for you mate.
Damn enjoyable chapter as always. :3 Nice to see more Verik development.
thing is veriks going to need more muscle if he wants to get somewhere.
i have to believe there are mercenary groups who disagree with farheed, surely there must be some word of what verks done by now.
Nice chapter. Better than the torture porn or whatever that other one was.

I like to establish who someone is rather than just tell you by showing what they do, how they think, etc. Also, what the hell is "torture porn?"

Movies like "Hostel" and every movie in the "Saw" franchise. Anything where the main draw is the spectacle of physical torture.
In the scope of the whole story, torture isn't what you read this story for, but it was the main focus in those 1, 2, or 3 chapters it was in, even though it gave character development.
It reinforced that every zebra is willing to let others suffer terribly to avoid the same, showed that somehow Fareed doesn't think he himself is evil and has dedicated torturers, shows that Tahid (I think was his name) tortures for no reason, and displays some of the court's mercy towards the servants by having them sing as a group to cover up the screams.
It was still a really bad time, though.

People are fucked up.

You described three different ones there but it brings the point: One does it out of "justice," another (Tasid) because he can and it gets his jollies off while the advisors are stuck in a horrible situation. It boils down to this as hinted at in one chapter: Here is a machete, chop that little boys hands off or my soldiers chop your sons hands off and your little girl gets to have "fun" with the men. What do you do? Who's life is more valuable?
Movie wise... Never seen them but heard of SAW.
Love both the character development and slice-of-life moments but I can't wait for the completion of the canal, there's also the upcoming battles to come, I can just smell the stench of blood in the distance
