cautious. methods may be different but the end goals appear the same. conquer and control, no matter the cost.
the line between fareed and Verik is frayed but still obvious, for now.
will Verik submit himself to the same greed and desires as all the other chess pieces?
Previous characters and situations have shown a variety of payments for the pursuit of power, is Verik going to sacrifice what he holds dear in the future to secure more power?
The depths of "power" are unimaginable, but past a certain point the price will hollow him out and the only thing that will fill it is the insatiable desire for more.
Past that point "Verick" is gone.
Jaded eyes can hold a wealth of Knowledge and experience, but it can mire you in stagnant wisdom and fear.
To kill, whether it is a spear through the heart or poison past the lips. The results are the same. cautious.
Please don't fall into the same, timeless trap Verik.
I can see Verick's prayer going similar to the one from Conan the Barbarian.
"And if you will not listen, then to Hell with you!"
and the line has been crossed and there no going back

And now everyone must survive their decisions.
Saw some Verik, was a good day
Always nice to see how Tasid's suffering is this time
About time.
SHIT IS GETTING REAL! I assume the next chapter will show Verik praying to the god of war, and other bloody tidings to come.

Ah fudge, I meant Fareed, damn auto-correct

Halim is invading the lands around Bwani, #35. Fareed is #1 on the map, he is taking advantage of the chaos to invade and expand his kingdom (#24) but as seen in earlier chapters his plans have changed due to the weather. No one knows what Sibusiso and Isibuso are up to other than "raiding," but are doing so far beyond their borders to such an extreme it will take them a very considerable length of time to get home.

My question though is that Halim hires Subiso forces as mercenaries, correct? What’s there job in Halim’s plan?
10515174
None, they are not currently employed, if you recall from earlier the old contract expired with the end of the last campaign (which Halim won) and now that Halim's father had OTHER plans that did not involve Sibusiso's tribal mercenaries... Why keep paying them? As has been pointed out in the story Sibusiso hires them out to anyone who can pay and in whatever quantity is asked, Halim even stated why he did NOT want (mentally) the mercenaries with him on this particular campaign. As such, Sibusiso turned his attention elsewhere and Halim is taking advantage of the chaos being created, realized he can NOT win, changed his plans to make the chaos even worse to weaken his rival and is in the process of doing that.
Oh and if you recall the conversation between Halim and his father: the reason Sibusiso does not pick a fight and wage war against Halim is because Sibusiso married one of his daughters off to him. In short they are "family" and though they have no current contract, he is not going to turn on the sugar daddy who employs his forces most of the time.

Ahhhh, I understand now... must had forgotten detail though the fact I forgotten shows how much I'm indebted in this story - so much is happening that my interest is hopping to one to the other... in a good way.
Also, you mentioned previously a Book 3... so I see you thought that far, may I throw a guess but will this story - the current one - will it roughly be 90 to 100 chapters long until Book 2... or is it longer than my guess?
10515200
My notes for book 2 end on what will be chapter 89, so book 3 begins on chapter 90. To aid my sanity I created crude outlines for the ending chapters so I can actually give you an answer this time and for how many books, I figured at least 4 "books" total, or tomes depending on how you want to look at it.
10515207
So four books in total, how long is book one then?
10515243
No idea, I have only just recently begun to break things down by calling them "books." As I continue to plot, plan and chart out the timeline of events I search for better ways of organizing everything and this was one way of doing that. Before this point I simply had a timeline, but that continues to evolve.
I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I'm only just now realizing that there are actually two separate marching armies and not just one big one that we've been seeing from different perspectives.
