WTF, you and Alondro are at every fic I read - are you freaking omnipresent or something
Ok, seriously. When can we check on verik again? Looking at these peoples backstories are getting on my nerves now.๐ Also that librarian character you put in this chapter annoyed me, so please stop doing that ok.
Guilt, generates the worst punishments...

Oh sure, you don't like this one character that seems to be an integral part of the story, why not just wipe her altogether so you don't have to see her anymore and we can appease your highness.
Seriously, there's always gonna be parts in stories some like and others don't. I for one happen to like these other POVs, including the world building that comes with it. You're just gonna have to tough them out 'cause I doubt we'll completely stop seeing from all these different characters as just seeing Verik all the time would get stale and we wouldn't have any context in latter parts of the story for when Veriks in full Warlording mode

Ok, ok I'm sorry. What that mare said reminds me too much of my parents, and the way they teach me things I never want to listen to. I'm just not into that you know? I just feel for verik in this story more than any other character. And I'm not as passionate about others as I should be, except for Asha.๐ Ashaxverik, that I like.๐
Oooh, I really liked this chapter, especially the echo comment at the end.
Thanks for the update!
I can't wait to see all this start coming together.
Dang, I really like this Dana character, she tells you the hard truth no matter how bad it hurts.
Isn't there a policy in the modern German army where if you were given an order that you believed was ethically wrong, then you could reject that order? Or am I wrong?

A few countries have "its the right of an OFFICER to refuse an unlawful order" but the basic truth is this: Refuse and die. No matter how right you may be, even legally, prepare to die because if the military admits wrongdoing their entire power base unravels as people stop to think and question what is going on.
Example: USA vs. Iraq. No declaration of war was signed which is required under US law, Bush just ordered the invasion and then later admitted he lied about the pretext on CNN and changed his story. Maybe two officers in the entire US military went "okay thats it, not going back" and all were thrown in prisoner for a couple of decades despite being legally in the right. To this day they were never given pardons by any president.
On another note: Glad you like Dana, I like her too!

Bit by bit the pieces shall fall into place and the blood shall flow as freely as the Thriti.
A chapter on self reflection, the ending was a final way of showing that for the first time she can actually see herself in the mirror and that the bubble has been popped.

Especially when its well founded guilt.

NO.
The galaxy needs it's betrayers.
Honestly wished these chapters were a little more mixed in with Verik sections. They are required for backstory, of course, but I'm missing my main man.

Even if they did (which would make since because of the Third Riech) it would most likely get investigated and then ignored before the soldier was court marshaled.
Canโt let commands power crumble can you? Itโs like two officers arguing in front of the soldiers. Pointless and hurts more than helps.
9670809
Which is absolutely true but at the same time there is a time when you need to step up to bat when someone is in the wrong. Catch is going back to Roman times the power structure will never allow it by hook or crook resulting in calamities. Hannibal annihilated the Romans at Cannae because of an idiot, the other guy knew what was going on apparently but bit his tongue. We see it again at Mai-Lai where helicopter pilots intervened and tried to stop it but were fired upon by American soldiers. The pilots and crews saved a great number of lives but were court marshaled for it while the whole event was swept under the rug. Worst still people attacked the pilots viciously for daring to speak the truth which only makes it ever harder to speak it.
So, either a future party member, cog in the plot machine or other character that has a part later when Verik gets going.
Time will tell
I feel like whenever a new character is introduced outside of Verik's perspective and area, that character is either a new ally or enemy, depending on their current situation
Usually I just care about Verik's story but this one was really good.
