Only his talent could had saved it without magic. As we know, talents/marks are stronger then that!

ps. the cloud hair could had worked, if Rarity had the same "walk on clouds" magic used on her^^

I sure enjoyed this.
You know, looking back on how the episode turned out, it was a downright shame that little Spike couldn't get involved. True what is stated is true that Rarity would still be all right regardless and ultimately her decision to 'improv' with her bad hair day end up paying off nicely. And it's also true that somehow she'd find a way to get her face on those magazines with a little help from a certain pony, I just hate when characters are left out because the writers couldn't think of how to properly use them. I mean as this fan story shows, Spike would go far and beyond to help out Rarity even if a later episode may demonstrate that he can turn his attention to more than just the fashionista (Though whether his little ordeal with Gabby will actually go anywhere remains up in the air). But as for this story, it's nice to see Spike's efforts written in a positive light.
A light that doesn't involve him getting the reward that he's wanted for years, but rather a light where he can prove that he's a dragon that does a self-less deed for one of the best friends he's ever had during the time of the show's initial run.

Well, at least Spike got to hear how much Rarity truly appreciates having him around when he started seeing another lassie. Not so much out of spite or maybe because he decided to just give up, but he wanted to prove that Rarity isn't the only girl he can hang out with. Besides, at least they can still be friends even if it's never meant to be.
