Good luck without Starlight and Discord, though I suppose you could always substitute Cheese Sandwich for the latter.

That was unspeakably cruel, Luna. You gave her hope then brutally and ruthelessly ripped it away.
Is...is the crystal heart the star?!

It couldn't have been unless time shenanigans were involved. The Crystal Heart predates Sombra's reign by centuries.
Alright, so the stain was pretty much what I thought it was. So I can see how removing it and allowing a more natural sex-positive culture to develop could be a good thing (or maybe not. Nature doesn't have an ethical stance.). At the very least, we know ponies appear to have had a reasonably functional society before the change.
Now, what I find questionable is the idea that changing most of the population into vamponies is a sweet idea. I mean, returning the ponies' sex drive to normal, sure, fine. They were okay before the stain, after all. But Shining et. al. Couldn't have a ten minute conversation without an orgy break in the middle of it. Don't get me wrong, sex is great. I love sex. I love kink. But you've gotta stop and go to work eventually. And a lot of essential jobs just aren't well suited to folks who are so horny they need to take a break for a gangbang five times an hour. Now maybe [REDACTED] will explain all of this, but I don't see how.
tldr- These fuckers are gonna starve to death in a month.
In the last chapter I stated that, so long as a cure for the vampirism could be found, only Luna needed to die. I also stated that Shining Armor might need to die, but that was mostly anger at what he had put Twilight through. I now wish to revise that statement entirely: Luna, Celestia, and possibly Cadance need to die. Alicorns have shown they cannot be trusted with power. Luna fucked with a fucking disease from SPACE and caused all kinds of problems. Celestia "fixed" those problems by MIND WIPING the entire world and FORCING a fucking mental block on everyone to curb their natural urges. Cadance's magic is mind control. Full stop. Even cured she would be a potential problem. They all need to die.
I'm also just waiting for Twilight to commit some atrocity, proving that all alicorns are idiots and not deserving of power. There was some crackfic I read a while ago that's entire premise was that adding wings to a pony literally made them retarded. I wish I could remember what it was, but it escapes me at the moment. That's a shame; it was hilarious.
8407751
What's kind of hilarious is how the Royal Pony Sisters seem to be trapped in some weird pity-loop.
"Oh no, Celestia is too crazy to see she's too loved, I now must do something!"
"Oh no, Luny went crazy and tried to overthrow me, I now must enforce her idea of a brain-wiped society!"
"Oh no, Celestia went crazy and enforced my idea of a brain-wiped society, I now must do something!"
So I'm kind of baffled that Luna explicitly says all the insanity about the stain being artificial is true, because it's like the premise of a story being that chem trails are real after seeing nothing but tons of misdeeds by conspiracy theorists who keep failing to offer proof except it also required some super science.
But Luna was there so either she's lying or it's true, unlike the rest of the cult who might at least be misinformed. It seems a bit elaborate to be a big lie, too, even if I think she has earlier deceived Twilight. I guess the creepy Hypno rock probably does do surgery for you as they claim, except the instant change in certain beliefs heavily implies there's more going on than just removing the stain...
She also implies that the permanent sex party was totally how things were, so I guess we just take at face value that it worked somehow, but that still offers no good opposing argument for all the myriad reasons consent laws are the way they are now, nor does it prove anything about gender bias being related to any of this or explain why sex should seemingly determine the actual government.
Overall most of this was interesting history and some details filling in, but while it could maybe explain why a few fanatics want things back the way they were there is no way all the cultists know this history or would even think it makes sense to topple the government because culture was forcibly changed thousands of years ago. I still smell mind control shenanigans.
Speaking of shenanigans: the horn thing got a hint when we hear that Celestia's would-be assassin probably loved her. Which makes sense if the horn thing grants you some kind of power over the unicorn/alicorn. I'm struggling to see other explanations for it that fit at this point, and something like that makes Celestia's current stance on the secret relatively believable. Will they "show" Twilight the secret by using it against her, much as she dreamed? The only question then would be if she escapes or how, since I think Luna has implied Twilight will escape again (time travel's relationship to all this still pending explanation)
Still hoping for team sanity to prevail, if only because it would feel super crummy if the crazy cult really succeeds despite such a flimsy reason to feel they're in the right.
8407751
To be fair she was supposedly pent up for quite some time, and only cut loose there because it was the first reasonable opportunity to do so.
8408352
Well Team Creepy made their case, like they should have done properly months ago. It's weak though. Everyone juggled the idiot ball back then... which was kinda in character. They were learning to rule. Now they're not talking things through, also in character but only for Luna. Celestia being an ideologue, very not in character. Same with the coup in general, although that at least has the excuse of recently removed mind control.
I agree with 8408201. The motivations and reasoning seem weak and ill thought out- fine for 1,000 years ago, when the sisters were inexperienced and reacting. Much less fine after 1,000 years to think on things and notice if the changes made are actually choking the species out of existence.
8409183
I wonder how much of those experiments affected Celestia herself. What if she did not only mess with her subjects' brains but messed up her own in the process of doing so?
8409183
We're clearly working with different definitions here. Being unable to hold yourself back until after you're done trying to convince your freaked out sister-in-law that "No, seriously, we aren't running a psychotic mind raping vampire sex cult, really! It's just a bunch of really kinky sex and everyone's consenting, we promise!" does little to convince me that making most of the population like them would lead to anything good.
8409183
There hasn't been a stated problem with population reduction, but population growth (according to Team Creepy) is slow enough that the stigma against blue-collar married couples not having a full house is (reportedly) significant.
As for the actual extent of whether or not the current Equestrian social order is "bad", there hasn't been much objective evidence presented yet apart from opinion. Twilight has not pushed very hard with demanding answers from Celestia so far, but the last time they met she had access to substantially fewer data.
We'll have to wait and hope the story touches on those subjects. (I do have access to a few spoilers, but I don't know everything the journal covers myself. I'm just the secretary taking dictation, so to speak.)
8409230
lol, true that. I suppose it was a balance of hunger vs cost.
8409310
I could have sworn that both sides had a potential end of the world motivation. That may have been before the rewrite. I suppose that matters to motivation.
Did he blend it and put it into a smoothie? I think that would make a yucky smoothie. Wouldn't taste good unless you put ice cream in it. 🤢
8410203
Yes, that's exactly what he did. People need to get their minds out of the gutters.
8410116
There was never a threat of extinction. You just ran with the idea for some reason; I think I even tried to tell you it wasn't what you insisted it was before, too. At worst it could be an economic problem like Japan is facing. Extinction by lack of sex is completely laughable as a problem barring some fertility-related mass plague; it's very easy to incentivize procreation.
The sex cult has never presented a compelling need for things to change.
So the whole vampony transformation is now confirmed as a disease, one which they not only deliberately screwed around with, but also were stupid enough to let out of their control because of a whiny royal brat. Also the sisters are responsible for the creation of the changelings and thus everything they've done, up to and including crashing Cadance's wedding, and responsible through their own stupidity for creating Sombra. Also we can now guess how the vampony infection has returned: Sombra probably, either unintentionally or on purpose, infected Shining Armor when he fought him during the Empire's return. Shining spread it to Cadance, and it's gone from there.
We still don't have the whole picture. We don't know what the stain is, or how it relates to this misogynistic society they're trying to start up, but it's pretty clear that any
societycult that forces you to infect yourself with a disease needs a good stamping out. Also, while Luna claims to feel guilty and to take responsibility for everything, I note that she also shifts a good chunk of the blame onto Celestia...
8411896
No reason to assume she doesn't own a chunk of the blame. Celestia's kinda stupid now I don't wanna know what she was like before she gained all the experience that she had.
8411911
Oh I'm sure. It's just that despite her regrets, her version of events pretty much shoves most to all the blame for the major screw-up back the onto Celestia. It was Celestia who apparently encouraged her to screw around with a magic space disease, it was Celestia who decided to play politics instead of pushing for even the barest precautions in transferring the meteor over to the Crystal Empire, and it was Celestia who let her guilt supposedly sexually suppress Equestria. Granted, this may actually be true, but it just seems convenient to put so much blame on Celestia when she's pretty much the only one still resisting them.
8411964
Well, we can't know for certain until confirmed by Celestia, which she'd probably deny because she's 'pretty much the only one still resisting them.' Hell, we don't even know for certain if she still is resisting.
From 'Helped in a Flash'
They seem to be suspiciously relieved for their suggestion that Celestia just 'might' submit to the Order. Just saying.
8411643
I guess that's the case. It seems everypony is playing Russian Roulette over a penny poker pot.
A lot of new information. Curses! I thought that the "stain" was a learned thing, mostly because the thought of genetic manipulation was to absurd for me to consider. I never particularly liked Celestia's society and I do not like what she did to achieve it. But now a new question has risen: How sexual are ponies without the stain? Was the society of old more sexually liberal like the Greeks/Romans? If so then I have little reason to condemn the removal of the stain but I still do not know what the "secret" is even if I feel I should be able to deduce it at this point. If the culture combined with the "secret" is destructive for civilization then I will have a dilemma. But considering it took one assassination attempt after a long time something new must have been introduced. It could just have been Sombra or maybe the "secret" is not as old as the culture.
However, the order are non the better. They too think they are doing the right thing and uses genetic manipulation to create their ideal world against peoples wishes!
Star Swirl's disappearance is interesting and I wonder what Discord did to cause all of this?
I am at the edge of my seat! Keep up the good work Trick!
8416720
Yeah, seems like a nation wide mind control because Celestia missed her sister. Then Luna sided with a coup instead of talking to her sister. And everypony decided to rape Twilight instead of leading with mind control. And Twilight freaked out for weeks without properly exploring what was happening in ponies brains, although maybe she didn't have enough neurobiology to work the problem.
Why not just tell everypony it on day 42? Heck, why not start talking about it on day 1? Even if Twilight wasn't receptive, obviously it's a provable thing that most reasonable ponies would at least consider.
8417145
Because we wouldn't have a story if they did. Full stop. Heck, to quote DWKs recap of Equestria Girls:
8417331
Yeah, soap operas and sit coms rely on that for the genre to run a plot. Mysteries, detective stories, and social commentary at its best require no one to have held the idiot ball, or at least no more than in real life. That's the psychological part of psychological genres. I was looking forward to the deep reveals that explained the convoluted intertwined layers of was going on, not just everypony is unreasonable and crazy.
8412045
To me, it seems like they think that they can convince Celestia with Luna and Twilight.
The way it's progressed both seems unlikely and that they have also forgotten the caveat of "of her own sound mind"
Celestia has basically become an old prude (for lack of a better term) after coming to the at least reasonable conclusion of "fuck fest isn't so good for societal progress"
Now if she went too far or not is yet to be seen, but after playing mother for so long I honestly don't believe that she is capable of drawing sexual feelings from mortal ponies anymore.
8428871
Well, provided all the biological gear is still there the vampirism would probably spark it up again.
8428966
I'm not saying she wouldn't get horny or anything, just that the ponies just do nothing for her. You can rile someone up as much as you like, if they aren't interested in something, if that mental attraction isn't there then they won't act on the urges.
This seems to be the most likely state for her, nothing stopping the biological process, just the mental disconnect she likely feels from being a matriarch for centuries.
Nope.
Still not valid excuses. Still would slit the throats of pretty much every single one of them. Hell, I'd probably put down Twi as well. Just for the stunt she pulled with Mare.
Luna's excuse for vamponies is she thinks their hot. No concern for the other effects.
The change with the stone might be acceptable, but honestly you've taken an obviously stable society and cranked the sex drives to 15. Did it occur to anyone that MAYBE the "solution" needed to be calibrated lower than it is? Or that ponies were slowly adapting and you've now unbalanced them? Let's not forget the total mental fuckery it's causing. The CMC accused Twi of raping them by not consenting to their rape. That logic is prevalent, the process is flawed at best and creating some form of sociopathic thought patterns.
8443799
Uh, Celestia was the one whose excuse was that Luna thought they were hot. Luna was initially opposed. Then they switched because Celestia missed her sister. Also, all sides are fucking with social norms with a sledgehammer. no one is talking, thinking anything through. As for the CMC, it kinda makes sense. They couldn't not clip her because they thought she would hurt herself. They didn't think to stop sexing her because they're kids and she clearly wanted them to continue. Twi did have some responsibility, only as an adult dealing with children, to specifically tell them to stop touching her sexually. Granted, they should have had explicit permission before they started but they didn't know any better.
I wonder if Lunas source is actually her future self communicating with present self. She's shown some ability to connect with her past self, I see no reason she'd lose that ability in the future.
8446093
Or Twilight's future self. After all, only Twi technically time traveled.
8447004
By Lunas power.
8453277
I think they have electric lights in the show. I swear I've seen a light switch. After all, they get electricity by kicking clouds. I'm sure somepony has a harnessing electricity cutie mark.
8454266
Perv. (this is a good thing)
8454713
derpicdn.net/img/2014/4/11/598165/large.png
Submitted for consideration.
8454713
I remember a few light sources very similar to our electric, but they don't have power cords. Pinke has flashlight in flutterbat episode. In "Rock solid friendship" there is an unshown device that turns off light with click when Pinkie claps hooves.
8454819
Yea, just remembered about dam too. These things below are probably symbolizing hydroelectric generators (without power lines?). Aluminum factory should be not so far away.
8455070
The hearts kinda suggest it's actually a hydroelectric tunnel of love.
(Or, maybe ponies just put hearts on everything.)
8455110
Where turbine blades guarantee exquisite and unforgettable sensations.
At least no one ever complained after.
8454819
well, that would do it.
8455070
hard to say with the light sources being offscreen. Maybe they use wireless electricity or maybe they just bury the wires. or both.
8455110
well of course hearts go on everything. They're not some sort of vaginic symbol after all.
8456709
Pretty sure that Twi is an xenophile. Well, that's my headcannon even though it's based on animation mistakes.
Mind modifications for the mind modification god!
What horrible things Celestia got involved with? At least there is a hint of hope that crystal ponies may know a bit about what they were doing.
Also I genuinely can not comprehend reasons they agreed to give Sombra the meteorite.
Wouldn't this mean that the crystal empire should have reappeared *before* Nightmare Moons return?
Since it disappeared for 1000 years before Luna was banished for 1000, am I wrong?
