I think you have a fairly neutral view of what's going on, yes. However, as mentioned before, there is a lot of missing information on both sides.
Also if I took suggestions from the crowd on this story (which I do not) Team Shining Boner would totally be a thing.
5534268
Nope! It's intentional. (It presumably represents a 7 that was exed out but all you know for sure is it is a "blotch".)
I don't think this was a plot point so I'm just going to say based on the ep with the Breezies in question Twi would not be able to turn herself into a gryphon, because she'd need a gryphon present. Remember, she had to scan the Breezies.
losing inhibitions I see
Why wouldn't Pinkie be on the wanted poster too?
Also, Spike sleeping in the library when he was known to be with Twilight and that's there home further suggests he may be compromised.
Heh, maybe Spikes behind it. Mares seem to be little more than possessions and dragons treat their valuables as a hoard and have pretty unique personal magic it seems
5534274 I know that I am just trying to dive into the logic in which trick here is trying to present to us...I mean we would guess team #^!& IT RIGHT IN THE */#!^/ is the bad guys but from the way trick is trying to conyey it is that both sides are flawed and even then things like morals, values, and taboos are subjective and not set in stone only to be flipped in reverse by processes that would seem like torture to the victim until the process is done in which they view it as a gift to spread to others...
I am just getting tired that twilight is not taking really any true agressive action (so far she has even stated in her journal her and her freinds lives were in danger at 1 point) I understand do not hurt your family and freinds but when they posse a active threat to you and your freinds take some action....I don't mean kill just do things like the following..
1. Twilight should have followed through with that magic blast to RAGING ARMORS "Lance and sheilds" I would have aplaudded and cracked up all the more. He deserves it, he made it open, let him feel pain and let cadance cry and say how could twilight do that to her brother...only for twilight to tell cadance to go back to her horn presently lodged in her &/#!^& telling her it is probably better than him anyway....
I know that is completely against twilight's nature but seriously I will give up asking questions the second twilight makes her brother clench his stallionhood in pain and leaves him so numb that he feels like his mare &/#$/ PRINCESS OPEN CROTCH ELEMENT OF TAKING IT UNTIL SHE RECIVES BRAIN DAMAGE.
OK I must also apologize to trick for my break outs in refering to major characters under the random names that come to my mind but really you should be glad PRINCESS SUN DON'T SHINE or I would be having a field day in referring to more characters in a degrading way.
5534035 Big mac finding Twilights hiding place while she is laying low, not even a few days after she had arrived, and having the perfect knowledge of the tree she was resting at and how to take her down would only be achievable if someone Twilight brought with her was a traitor, Spike is too young for that plus he was actually upset over rarity's change in demeanor, however in pinkie's case she didn't show any sign of surprise at her friends change in personality. Meaning that she was most likely inducted before they left Ponyville. Upon arrival to the crystal kingdom, she most likely played spy for Rarity and Fluttershy and allowed them into the bedchambers to bite Applejack, after that was done, she continued acting as if nothing happened. I'm thinking that upon arriving at Ponyville she lied to spike and Twi telling them that they had been out for a few days when in actuality it had probably not been more than a few hours, within that time she had told Bigmac that she and Twilight had arrived and probably recieved a treat for it, after that they planned on how to catch Twilight.
By moving Twilight to the diseased part of sweet apple acres orchard, they had ensured that there would be no witnesses to Twilight's capture, and since bigmac's more in agreement with the order than his familial holdings he would be willing to destroy one of the trees he had lovingly grown in order to take out one of the Spring Order's opponents to take in and assent to his own way of thinking. Anyway After Capturing Twilight, he probably took her down and placed her with Cherilee who's induction to the order was most likely completed the very day they arrived, so that Twilight could be prepared to surrender by the time he arrived. Which as we know Failed.
That is what I believed actually happened over those two days.
5534412
Spoiler some of that please.
I like this and I want this to be the ending.
5536054
Aww. What's wrong with SISTER SEX ?
5536101 nothing but twilight seems to be in column c not a or b
5536228
Shortage of stallion emoticons!
...but at least we can do and and
5536231 and I feel like twilight would be okay with that if they were consenting adults which her brother is an adult but twilight isn't consenting.
5536288
...yet
Just kidding! Though I should point out that nopony has forced anything into anywhere on-screen unless you count Twilight Sparkle's disturbing dreams.
i hope this doesnt become exclusively mdom. Especially as the stallions so far seem to be pretty shitty doms.
5535505 my apologies for forgeting the rule about spoilers....
still the second sir Mc BATTLE !##$ gets hit right in royal gems I will sit down and shut up about what I think is going on...
Next chapter will take a while, as it involves some extensive cryptography.
5536695 Good
5536776
That's another big issue. Sure, BDSM, fine. So why the fuck is it inherently gender biased? It's so unbelievably sexist, it reminds me of SJWs themselves. CASTRATE ALL MEN.
5540768
5540665
5540790
First off, please spoiler the plot details.
Second, I appreciate the formatting note! I'm aware of the common convention and the fact that I'm violating it with a lot of cray-cray bolding and italicsing. It is intended to reflect Twilight's ramshackle approach to writing a narrative rather than my personal knowledge but I realize that may not make it any less annoying if it bothers you. Sorry!
No offense is intended by this question (I swear), but why are you reading this story?
I'm serious. You didn't like anything about the story until you were 70,000 words in, what you liked was a tiny footnote, and you have nothing but complaints. Why are you here? I don't get it.
I would be happy to field any questions you might have, but nothing you're providing right now is constructive. If you hate the story this much, don't read it. Don't torture yourself; that is not why I write fiction. I only want people to read the story if they are enjoying the experience, and it makes me sad to think you're inflicting pain on yourself.
5541159
Because I WANT TWILIGHT TO WIN. Against herself, against Spring, and against Equestria.
I still have hope. It's making me miserable not knowing, and more specifically, it's making me miserable considering how you think there's ANY MORAL AMBIGUITY HERE AT ALL.
5541172
As long as you get something out of it, that's fine. And thank you for spoilering!
I haven't labeled this story "tragic" because I don't think all readers will view it that way. However, I can't guarantee whether or not a reader will consider the end "good end" or "bad end" and I don't want to give anything away in advance. If you want a particular ending you might be better off writing it on your own.
At the very least, I can say that some of your assumptions about the direction of the story are not correct, and that's not a spoiler because it is intended that readers flip perspective multiple times as the story progresses.
I hope you like where the story goes! And if not, I hope you can come up with a happy ending in your mind or pen!
5541227
I hate it when people are told to spoiler and don't.
And I will never write anything involving these fetishes in a non-masturbatory manner.
5541235
I never said it had to be non-masturbatory. I'm all about masturbatory. The lower ear is most definitely one I am writing to, though it's probably clear by now that romance is something of a kink for me: who knew TwiJack could be so touching?
or maybe four-way Twicest but there are no emoticons for any of Twilight's smexy family
5540768
I think the idea is that Celestia is worse. The only thing bad the order did was violate consent and rebel, but damn did they violate consent. I agree, they went about things in the worst possible way no matter which way you slice it. I don't know if locking up 17 year olds forever for having consensual sex is worse than mind control. We have the former IRL in America but don't have the latter.
There's also a definition problem here
assent: to agree to something especially after thoughtful consideration
consent: : to agree to do or allow something : to give permission for something to happen or be done
informed consent: permission granted in the knowledge of the possible consequences, typically that which is given by a patient to a doctor for treatment with full knowledge of the possible risks and benefits.
So what Twilight did with AJ was certainly informed consent, despite claims to the contrary. She had all available information given freely, and acted of her own free will without coercion or deceit. Simple consent and assent are synonyms that involve actually considering and agreeing of your own free will, though not necessarily while understanding all the possible consequences. What they are calling assent is actually a fleeting impulse, or a lapse of willpower. If Trick here wanted the order to not be evil, then there needs to be some redress between what was shown to be done and what was said.
5540790
SJWs?
but yeah, that's part of why I say they're bad at BDSM. Kink is necessarily egalitarian, bordering on Crystal Spires and Togas utopian in subculture. They're Also bad at being villains. I dont know if that's a plot hole, bad writing, or good characterization.
That being said, I do like the culture clash premise and I want more like this. Sex is ... offensive in our culture and therefore we dont explore these topics nearly enough, even in our porn. I honestly dont know if there are any other fics that are similar in this way, although if there are I would love to be pointed in their direction. I had a similar idea to this story- although without the MC elements- that I started to write but anyone who saw my short foray into clop will know that me trying to write such is about as good idea as sticking a fork in the eye.
5541286
Nonconsensual mind control is akin to murder, so I would say it is a great deal worse than indefinite imprisonment subject to change in law. If they wanted reform, they would go through proper channels. Frankly put, the only reason Spring is in the form it is is because of Author Appeal. Whether that ruins the story, I haven't decided, but the truth is that this story wouldn't connect to me without the fetishes involved. I don't care about Equestrian gender reform, I care about Twilight putting down an abusive, creepy cult. The former being used to give the latter a veneer of credibility is simply ridiculous, and probably my biggest complaint with the story. The incestuous issues Trick seems to have with her own parents also creeps me out, and the apparent nature of her fantasy being enacted through Twilight and her parents repels me. Parental incest is possibly one of the only things I'm unable to appreciate because of its sheer creepiness. The wife husbandry factor...
And I'm using "assent" as it is described in this story.
5541286
Also, I only recently figured out that your name means God(dess) in Heaven.
What was your clop?
5541300
I'll disagree factually with the mind control = murder, at least in the absolute sense. It can be, but it doesn't have to be. Some people have survived even an ice pick lobotomy minimally maimed and with their personality intact. What's happening here is closer to a very high end hypnosis, but non consensual and damaging to the brain.
I dont know about Trick having parental issues, and I dont like to speculate. However, I think exploring taboo is part of the point. We can't just expect our emotions to be right on this sort of thing. My grandfather was more creeped out by miscegenation than most people are by bestiality.
As for the assent thing, that was directed to the way it is used in the story. I probably should have put it behind a: 5541159
5541374
Check my comment again, I edited it heavily.
It's not speculation, Trick has admitted to it. And I don't care about the incest taboo, what I care about is the abusive power dynamic inherent in parental incest.
5541286
I think the point is that as far as TwiJack is concerned Twilight did not "consent" to sex in the strictest definition. She wasn't aware of the consequences, she was pressured into it, and she didn't know what to expect. This "consent" is also the "definitional" consent that says "if a mare is 17 it's rape". "Assent" is a different word generally used to mean "wanted it to happen", so you can say that the mare assented to sex regardless as to the "legal" definition. In the real world, "assent" is rarely used to describe sex as it can be construed as apologism for minors having sex, which is extremely taboo in most Western cultures.
[redacted]
5541451
"Changing someone's mind" is not nonconsensual mind control. If you have sufficient predictive and interventionary capabilities (such as CelestAI) however, then yes, it is mind control. And please note I changed my comment. It is not murder, but it is akin to murder.
5541394
I myself have problems with the current state of legal affairs regarding age of consent, but "assent" is not a solution without a lot of corroborating evidence to back it up. In this sense, I think your story is also a bit of an author tract.
5541381
response edited.
5541349
A short lived and ill fated attempt to tack at Shard #173,847 (The Teacher) from the other point of view. It did not go well.
5541394
She wasn't aware of the consequences, she was pressured into it, and she didn't know what to expect? That doesnt seem like what I was reading, unless twi is under 18 and it was statutory. She had already had all the sex education she was going to get without being "hooves on" at that point. if there was important consequences then AJ certainly didnt know it- and unknowable information certainly doesnt count against informed consent. Twilight had every opportunity, at every point, to stop or say no and I had the impression that AJ was understating her problem to avoid pressuring Twi unduly. The only way I see for this to be more informed would be if her future self popped in with a contract and a 2 hour instructional video.
5541480
Oh, jesus. Thank you for refraining.
5541451
It was not a personal attack, though I'm sorry it's able to be construed that way. From your comments, you've admitted that you would have engaged in statutorily nonconsensual sex with your parents had they offered. Forgive me for inferring that this is a recurrent fantasy.
5541492
Blame Book Burner for it ever being seen at all.
5541467
Let me correct that, as well. You don't even need to be as powerful as CelestAI to be an abusive, manipulative asshole, though the control exerted in the case of using Dark Arts would not be enough to qualify as full mind control.
5541451
winning an argument is not mind control
I find all this comment about real world stuff to be extremely annoying an inappropriate.
5541172 why not wait until the story is marked complete then and then read it in one go.
5541665
Why? The story obviously touches on real-world stuff, not sure if its worth calling them issues.
5541699
it does?
5541492
5541467
Mostly-redacted.
Plz don't accuse me of promoting illegal activity or writing for perverted reasons involving my family was the gist.
5541823
Communication has broken down here. What I'm saying and what you're hearing, and/or what you're saying and what I'm hearing, has gotten very muddled.
Debate over legal philosophy is not illegal, and saying that I said you were advocating illegal activities is disingenuous. I'm sorry for publicly speculating on elements of your desires, though saying that I am unable to speculate given what you have written on this site is simply not true. Henceforth, I will keep my opinions of you out of this story's discussion. I apologize for upsetting you.
So, how about that kink?
You know, horns regrow. fur regrows, feathers regrow. They're all the same type of keratin, right? I wonder if you could trim the hooves in such a way to temporarily lame a pony, at least partially, but would still grow back without permanent harm.
5541950
Short version: thanks, and I am also sorry for overreacting.
Long version: I am sorry as well for getting bent out of shape and probably taking things a little further in my head than they were intended. I've had a rough evening for other reasons, and I am not particularly emotionally stable at the moment. I think it's fair game to say "this reads like an author tract" if that was the intent (rather than "you're trying to bully-pulpit illegal activities" etc.) and I should be giving you the benefit of the doubt. I just kind of feel attacked by a lot of your recent comments even though I think I know what you're trying to say. I would like to dialog with you on those topics, too, but I really can't go into detail without giving away the story and have no idea if you will hate or love it when it's over (though hate's my best guess).
As for the mind control thing, I think that's a very interesting topic, which is why I write about it. I do agree that a permanent and severe mental change is similar in some respects to murder. As a pony who has dealt with major depression most of her life, I can say that that's actually an attractive thing if you want to be dead. Ironically, it also helps some people go on antidepressants (which they desperately need) because you can view the psychoactive brain modification as a kind of death.
I don't think the story has revealed any hard evidence of forced mental manipulation so far. But it's interesting to me to see that reader perceptions tend to be as negative as possible about what might be happening, and I don't think that's an unfair assumption to make in reality. Ponies tend to want to know what they're getting into (to have true consent over their experiences and fate). For good or ill, this is intentionally a recurrent theme of this story.
I think part of the trouble is we haven't really touched down into the deep end of taboo territory yet, so I'm somewhat concerned that if somepony in the forum is bucking for a fight this early then I can't even imagine what sorts of shit I'll get accused of when things start going even weirder. But I'm not going to stop writing unless I do kill myself, which is extremely unlikely given my current situation and social support network and Pinkie Pie is standing behind me threatening me with a knife if I even consider such a terrible thing. I really wouldn't want to wake up dead just because I had killed myself so somepony else decided to kill me to teach me a lesson I would not easily forget. (I'm pretty sure that made sense.)
I'd also be willing to guess that some of the ponies who are highly resistant to mind control pressure might not agree with deterministic physics, but I don't know. That's a separate area which may or may not be touched on in the story.
I gotta do a lot of cryptography for the next chapter, however.
5541699
It does and it doesn't.
I think discussing real-world issues is fine, to a point. I don't think it's appropriate to talk about (for example) having sex with children in the forum of a foalcon story (this is borderline illegal and is generally forbidden everywhere people post fictional material on the internet).
So I guess I would say it is important to recognize the difference between fantasy and reality, and the fact that those two things are two different things and are not the same thing. Those two things should not be confused for one another.
5541650
Isn't it?
You're changing somepony's mind. Why does the method matter? If you flip a switch and somepony's opinion changes, versus you make an argument which does the same thing to their brain. Input leads to result.
I think the main difference is that with an argument, you can pretend somepony didn't change your mind; that "you" somehow did it on your own. But you didn't, really. It's just a socially acceptable way to alter somepony's mind, partly because it's hard to have a severe effect in a short space of time: when that happens it's just called "brainwashing" instead of "argument" (or if they're a foal, it's called "teaching" and you can program away like gangbusters). But some ponies are more persuasive than others, irrespective of what they're trying to do to other ponies' brains. Or succeeding at doing.
5542079
Please don't kill yourself.
If you manage to write a whole entry in steganography, I will be seriously impressed.
If drugging your child, tying them up, hobbling their magic, and exposing them to a mind control device while sexually molesting them or secretly giving ponies an infectious bite that eventually physically and mentally transforms them almost completely isn't hard evidence of forced mental manipulation, I literally do not know what is.
5542023
That might be hard, but you can apparently block manumancy.
5541492
Just for the record: I was well over twenty before I considered that sort of thing, so it wasn't a nonconsensual fantasy in any regard (at least not me with my parents specifically). It might be illegal depending on the jurisdiction, but even then it's rarely prosecuted because it's one of very few "natural taboos" (not entirely "natural" exactly, but very commonly taboo in societies).
And even fantasies which are nonconsensual by the "statutory" nature are only fantasies. I imagined myself having sex with others long before I turned eighteen years old, but nopony tried to put me in the slammer for it. I daresay somepony not doing that before turning eighteen would have serious psychological problems.
5542124
yes, the method does matter. It matters greatly. Reason and choice remain in affect and usable in an argument. People can change their minds back, or adopt a third opinion.
And seriously if you don't think there's been forced mental manipulation based on what you show then I don't know what that could be either.
