Ah sweet a long chapter... And it's gone. I read to much now. Anyways another great chapter.
Uhhh... What to say about this...
So far, I have to agree.
Indeed, let us hope Twilight's parents manage to remove Shining Armor's cranium from his hindquarters.
Personally, I do hope that it's more than just hating Flash's guts (and I don't think it's the right explanation). I mean, he was friendly and welcoming in the first month. If he was just an overprotective brother, that sort of thing would've happened way earlier. Is it that Cadence is trying too hard to keep Zodiac a secret and let something out (mainly about Flash. Hey with the amount of stress she's under, I wouldn't be surprised if she talks in her sleep)? Is it the rampant gossip (which again, happened way earlier for it to be the sole explanation)? Is it a co-worker (or a student) that pushed a particular button with said gossip? Is it all three at once (that could be an explaination)?
Was it engeneered deliberately by Sunset Shimmer? Possibly but I'm not sure. I have a feeling that Sunset is a decoy antagonist, but I'm not sure on which side she's in. If she's the mastermind behind Zodiac (for some reason), why would she attract attention to herself with her petty bullying outside of it. And yet, the opposite is true. If she's just a petty bully, how to explain the messages when Libra attacked? Was it her, or someone (or something) else?
That fic raises so many questions, but I like a fic that keeps me guessing (as long as it makes sense in the end). I'm prety sure 95% of my theories are wrong, but it's still fun to speculate. That makes me want to see the next chapter (and made me dust off my old copy of Persona 3).
Keep up the good work.
Hunh... I'm going to channel some frustration here about Shining Armor.
We clearly see Cadence's frustrating "Make him apologize" passive-aggressive tactic of moving out and... probably not even really telling him what's wrong, assuming that he should already know what the problem is, when she's not even clear on what the problem is to Twilight and Flash, beyond "we haven't slept together and now we fight a lot." It doesn't bode well for how she tries to solve problems beyond that, since the only tactics we've seen her resort to are manipulative ones, but we don't have any evidence beyond that. Beyond that, we know that Cadence is broadly flirtatious, which can do a ridiculous number on a man's self-esteem (especially if she's been buggering off on nights saying she can't tell Shining where she's been (Zodiac investigations, maybe something else too) There aren't a lot of kind assumptions that sort of information-hiding engenders.)
Given how she can't even explain it, I doubt she's been very helpful in working it out with Shining. When she said in the previous chapter "He doesn't know what he's apologizing for" I had to echo that sentiment: beyond not sleeping with her, and engaging in fights where she clearly fought back and probably did her fair share if instigating, I'm not 100% clear on what he's supposed to be apologizing to her for, he probably apologized for being a jerk when he came to her, but she still treated it like he had no idea what was going on.
In the meanwhile, Twilight is getting more distant by spending more time with Flash, who is metaphorically stealing his little sister, his wife moved out, we have no evidence he has any other friends or anyone to really confide in... really, as much as Twilight is mocking him by saying that him going home for the weekend is him "going home to Mom and Dad to pout" that is unquestionably a good move on his part: he needs someone to confide in and listen to, and needs to separate himself into somewhere comfortable. I do remember it seemed like Twilight was not immediately taking Cadence's side, but I suspect, despite her unwillingness to believe that he's not really like this, she is subtly taking Cadence's side with the idea that, while she may be reacting to it immaturely, it's Shining that's the one in the wrong and is the only one that can change it.
But we don't have a lot of information, just the way Shining treats a relative stranger (Flash) and what Twilight and Cadence say around him, so a lot of this comes down to how Twilight and Cadence treat Shining when they're not around Flash, and what the underlying reason for their problems are.
5348714 I'm with you on the "Sunset is a decoy" theory. This is a different game with a different overarching theme(abet one I can't yet articulate), but my mind goes to how the real villian tried to use the Midnight Channel to implicate Naoko's kidnapper.
5348718 Yeah, whatever choice our lady Lover needs to make, I feel it will hinge on the realization that she's just as much to blame.
Well, that was... Akward, but hey, at least no one was killed and no divorce papers have been signed
yet, so there's still hope! Keep your eyes on the Star(second to the right!)!Sweet! 2K+ chapter! It's been a while since one of those.
As for the chapter itself, there's nothing much. Sure, Celestia and Luna are very rational authorities, something many people can appreciate. Can't wait for tomorrow: Gooo Canterlot!
Heh. Point made.
In any case, I love what you've done with the principals. Reasonable authority figures with a fun sibling dynamic? Heck yes. (Though seriously, that much leg can't be healthy.)
Also, Twilight may want to call her parents to give her side of the story. Something tells me Shining isn't going to give an entirely accurate account. On the other hand, these are his parents we're talking about. They probably recognize when he's in a snit. Especially since he's a grown man coming to them to complain. Yeah, that seems like it'd be a pretty major tip-off...
Looking forward to more.
I think I found that picter Flash and Twilight saw

Then, Shining Armor, shunned by his family and friends and barely not shunned by his job never gets any better because everyone has zero sympathy for him, and their advice can be summarized as "ignore your feelings and man up." The time when it was probably most important that someone reaches out to him to figure out what's wrong never happens because it's already been decided he's all at fault.
If they're smart, instead of just telling him how stupid(/weak) he is and how it's all his fault, they ask for Twilight's side voluntarily, knowing that she's only got a small part of the story just like he did, and work out what's really happening from that.

That message is actually the reason that convinced me that Sunset isn't responsible of the attacks. Twilight said it already, she hates her for having better grades than her, Flash and the others are collateral and indirect ways of hurting her. The message in the hospital was written as if Twilight was the collateral, getting attacked because she is with flash.
5348718 You, my friend, have pretty much hit the nail RIGHT on the head.
5348838 I love ZarityARZ's bikini pinups. (And the nude beach versions...)
5347725 Yeah I guess. I would love to have a friends like the Hero and Yosuke,
5348651 Probably could've been phrased a bit better though. (Especially given the audience, )

I'm almost 100 percent certain that the real culprit is actually Discord hiding out as the janitor.
I'm kind of expecting Flash and Shining to use the Yosuke Hanamura-patented "Slug it out on a riverbank" method of 'talking' things out. Though, it might go more like...
"Flash, I want you to punch me. Beat all this crap outta me!"
"Okay."*PUNCH*
"OW!"
"What? You told me to."
"Honestly, I kinda expected you to give me some 'You need to punch me first so we can truly be equal!' crap."
"You already DID punch me first!"
"Oh, yeah..."

5715337 you... just earned my follow again!
These two are just such a nice couple. They're like the steady rock in a story full of craziness.
poop
Don't know whether or not to be happy that Shining hasn't been fired and thus can redeem himself. Or hoping that his parents beat sense into him for punching a minor for the "crime*" of dating his sister.
*said with tons of sarcasm XD.
