You can just feel the tension in the air.
CAAAAN YOU FEEL THE HATE TONIGHT?!
...yeah my Can you feel the love tonight parody sucks.
Anyway, Fluttershy! Maybe you should help her meet a shark! Preferably by drowning her or dropping here into the most shark infested area!
Sweetie Belle, I love ya but, HUSH! Let the Zodiac Team and the mega bitch talk!
Sweetie Belle has the right idea. Also, Flash, you already got two types of crazy to jump you. No need to go adding a third. Though convincing one of them to get advice from her certainly would not be remiss.
Nice to see the Crusaders being more mature then the rest.
I do give credit to Fluttershy for only trying to choke Sunset by this point. I thought that she would probably of gone after Sunset with a very sharp knife within a day of Sunset's arrival after all the crap Sunset has done to the dorm.
Goodness... I join to the tension each time Baconator appears with her bulshit good-girl act.
Sunset, dear, five of these people has basically seen your real face. If you don't want to fight them anymore, that's fine, be my guest. But stop "pretending" to ignore what has happened, nobody is falling for that.
On another news: Good thing that the World Ranked up. At least now all the worthy links are above the 5th mark.
Can't wait for Tuesday's chapter.
What's your game, Sunset?!
I trust in MythrilMoth and Zef to make this as best as they possibly can, and they haven't disappointed me yet.
I trust them with this story and eagerly await the end. I can't wait to see the next chapter. I obviously can wait, I just feel real excited when reading this story.
Well, now we know when Flash and Pinkie will start their tennis training over the summer. I wonder if Rainbow Dash will be taking booster lessons, she could probably use them. Figures that Twilight has turned in her residency paperwork already. Changing the locks is probably a reasonable precaution, as is keeping the doors locked when not in their rooms. I see that Flash's mother really is paying more attention now. And that comment of Fluttershy's about meeting a shark... *laughs* I liked Flash's catfight observation, too.
"…meow." More like Rawrrrr am I right?
Ten points for Fluttershy.
6516033
Okay, what are you referring to? If the "two types of crazy" you're referring to are Twilight and Pinkie, then who is the third? And if that's not what you're talking about, then what is it?
Rank 6 with his family already? That seems kind of fast. I guess I didn't notice a few rank-ups.
In any case, definitely a good idea to delay this so that the previous chapter went up on the anniversary. This is a good bit of plot progression, but it just doesn't compare to the whammy of the previous one.
6516506 Fluttershy. Isn't that obvious in the update?
6516607 Considering that at no point do Fluttershy and Flash talk to each other in this chapter, no.
6515992 So thick you could choke on it.
Damn Fluttershy... she doesn't say much, but when she does speak it's scathing...
6516645
I think It would be so thick that it would have the same response from Yukiko, Chie, Rise, and Fuuka's cooking.
You can cut the tension in the air with a knife.
6516621 Oh. Well that's my fault.
6516674
I know, right? 10/10 Best Fluttershy.
I dunno, I don't really think it's immature to be openly hostile to someone who tried to kill you multiple times. And the whole "rape" thing...
Frankly, I'm surprised no one's protesting that Sunset invited herself along to the beach. Sharing their vacation was not part of the truce.
6516889
Actually, Flash invited her in the previous chapter. He saw that there was no point in stopping doing what they have planned just because she's present. She's coming along with them to the beach and then to Sweet Apple Acres, where she'll be doing the nastiests jobs. All while under the watch of everybody from ZIT.
So THIS is why they call him a waifu stealer.
I don't know why, but for some reason I'm starting to like this side of Fluttershy more and more... even if it's not canon.
Oh...I think I know what's up. Sunset wants to use them to kill Leo for her.
6516104 I honestly don't think she faking it. She's tried everything at this point, but just can't win. I figure she's either trying to follow Fluttershy's route to redemption, or is trying to get it close, then tear the group apart from within.
If it's the former, then yeah, she can't just ignore everything she's done and pretend it didn't happen. She needs to make it up to the group somehow. She could start with some answers about how she got involved with Zodiac, and how she commands the Hunter shadows, assuming it is her picking the targets.
If it's the later, then maybe she's trying a divide and conquer tactic. Or just wants keys to the dorm. Or wants to interrupt Zodiac training sessions. Now that she's here, it's probably safe to say she'll be around on Shining's Birthday. Maybe that's part of her plan?
6517203
Ah, ok - missed that.
I dunno what to say with Sunset doing a complete 180. It's completely OOC for her in this fic after months and months of torment. Now she's in the dorm and going with them? What is she up to? Also, she's a Social Link now? Geez, what else can happen? Well, I guess I should wait and see what else can happen with Sunset with the group. She's probably trying a whole new angle.
*Reads story*
Is enjoying.
*Reads about Cadence/Shining*
Nope!
6519352 Mind being somewhat less vague and explain your exact issue?
6519044
In canon. You know what else isn't in canon?
Personas, Shadows, Fluttershy being a hacker, Rainbow being insecure about her sexuality, Coco being a tennis player, the Pie Family disowning Pinkie...need I go on?
This is not a canon story. Did you not see the Alternate Universe tag? That isn't just there because it's an Equestria Girls story. It's there because it's an Alternate Universe story whose only connection to canon is having familiar characters with the same base personalities, but expanded upon and altered to fit the narrative of this particular story and its setting.
Have whatever opinion you want to of the Cadance/Shining Armor subplots, that's your right as a reader, but do not attempt to use "BUT IT'S NOT CANON!" as a defense for your opinion when you're talking about a story which is by definition NOT set in any canon universe.
Thank you, and have a nice day.
Ive never played the Persona games or even heard of them and am only going off what Ive read here, and was unsure when I first saw this story, and its design, but Im very glad I gave it a chance and finally caught up after a few days of long grind.
What is this Mephistopholes, given Flash has a whole load of maxxed out base cards, ones which have reinforcng effects when used in fusion to create others?
End of game question. Is Sunset Shimmer the previous player, who survived by creating a total deck fusion?
I take it the game design is one that scales the combat to your level, or to your time spent, instead of like Pokemon where you can obscenely over level a whole squad relative to even the Champion?
Is Sunset a one off, or has her appearence unlocked a whole new Arcana?
Can the cards, as in some sort of expansion pack, exceed Level 10, Max, and instead become like the picture cards, Jack, Queen, King, (Ace)?
Flash is going to go to the Velvet room one more, last time? According to prior mentions, this will be his last chance for creating combinations, or will it be tramlined as to what occurs?
Sorry, Im more button than Twilight when it comes to knowing what not to ask, and much more like Twilight in knowing things.
You really wouldnt like what I think is Pinkie Unchained.
6520076 Wow. That's a lot of questions. For obvious reasons, I can't/won't answer all of them. But let's see...
Many of the readers had never played any Persona game going into this. We've done our best to explain everything in a way that makes it easy for newcomers to get into it without being lost.
Your questions about Mephistopheles and Sunset Shimmer, I can't answer at this time, sorry.
Oh, you can grind as much as you want in Persona, and the bosses don't scale to your party. That having been said, there is occasionally an anti-grinding mechanism in place in some form or other in the Persona games.
The Jester Arcana is kind of a massive Persona 4 Golden spoiler. If you really want to know about it, you'll have to do some independent research.
That's...not how it works, no. And you're entirely too focused on the cards and not what they represent...the bonds between the "player" and the supporting characters. A maxed out Social Link is a maxed out Social Link, period. It gives you the maximum fusion boost the game allows for, as well as the ability to fuse the final Persona of that Arcana. (Or, in terms of this story, it just allows Flash to summon that particular Persona.)
Nobody said he was only going one more time. And, again, you're too caught up in gameplay mechanics and confusing them with narrative convention. Were this a game, Flash could go to the Velvet Room two or three times a day at any time to fuse new Personas as needed. It's just that for the purposes of telling a story as opposed to creating a game, Flash isn't going to the Velvet Room as often as would be normal in a Persona game.
If you search my blog for "Persona", you'll find some blogs explaining basic Persona concepts. You can also find extensive information about Persona 3 and Persona 4 (the games this story is modeled after) on Wikipedia, TV Tropes, and the Megami Tensei wiki.

Sorry if I laid out questions wrong, I didnt do too well in languages, but understood a mean computer build. Before they added graphics. Programming depends on languages.
I beleive one of the reasons Pokemon has been so popular, is because its combat system is mathematically coherent, simple, extendible. In order to make any other game system as coherent, means using the same base functions and modifying everything else in the same way, like capping at social level 10 instead of Amie level whatever?
Sorry, just me being so bad at complex repetative attack systems, I prefer to instead spend time and effort grinding until I mostly can just slap the opposition. Shield bosses are a nightmare, because the game just doesnt allow you to level up to where a simple rock can be used to cause a reality breaking impact, the same way that can be done in real life. So, play the game within the games limits. Give up if it gets hard. Personal limitations, not the game.
Oh dear. Michael Keaton Betlegeus?
6520392
You...STILL don't really understand Social Links. Social Links only have two functions, gameplay-wise:
- The link rank for a Social Link gives you an EXP boost when you first fuse a Persona. In other words, depending on the link rank, the Persona will immediately grow by one to five levels when first fused. Beyond that, the Social Link rank has no effect on a Persona's growth or power.
- Maxing out a Social Link enables the fusion of that Arcana's Ultimate Persona.
But the story implications of Social Links are more important than their gameplay mechanics, ESPECIALLY for this story.

As I said I only brought up the matter of 'canon' since you yourself had used it in earlier comments to justify certain positions (the one concerning Chrysalis is an easy example) and thus assumed that for the sake of internal logic and consistency 'canon' would be a deciding factor as a result in the relationship dynamics of the cast. If not, which is fine it's your right as author, then certainly it's not a defense of my position (since it grants carte blanche to write and use the names of the characters in any way deemed fit) but it does remain pertinent to my confusion and repugnance of this particular plot development.
But aside from that, as I said, I have many other reasons why I am bothered by how the relationship of Cadence and Shining Armor is being dealt with here, I listed quite a number in my previous comment, and would be very interested in answers to them. Having read more now I can firmly say this entire 'Haytona' period simply reinforces my problems with Cadance's highly immoral character. She regularly, and chronically, breaks the trust Shining puts in her and yet rather than suffer consequences for it she continues to have awesome threesomes with Flash and Twilight. Shining has no evidence based on which he can trust Cadence, he know she's more than happy to sleep around on him, withhold secrets from him and is clearly infatuated upon of and sexually devoted to Flash, her 'Alpha' male, who she can't stop herself from gushing over (contrast the way her two conversations regarding Shiny's sexuality ended with condescending shakes of the head as she ditched him to do something else). This trust issue isn't even strange since, in the actual fic, Flash and Shining have a conversation concerning trusting Cadance at the end of which they both simply conclude that Shining can trust her however much he wants she's going to cheat on him whilst at the beach. Heck Shining isn't even willing to ask Cadance not to cheat on him, he's giving her that much leeway, and instead simply asks Flash to curtail her promiscuity since he's not willing to demand of her that she not cheat on him with dozens of men. Which brings to my mind what this 'therapist' told Cadance. Now I'm no therapist, certainly, but I do know therapists, counsellors, psychologists and psychiatrists and I'm having a hard time imagining any of them advising a husband, asking about his lack of faith in his chronically-adulterous wife, that he should simply appease her by allowing her to sate her desires at the expense of his own emotional well being. Once again, what sacrifice is Cadance making here? What is Shining doing which is emotionally hurting her right now whilst she engages in bacchalian festivities with others whom she gleefully calls 'better' and 'amazing' compared to her husband?
My primary question is why did Cadence marry Shining if she knew when she said her vows that she was blatantly lying? She literally lied through her teeth and then requires that he accept her way of life, to rampantly abuse his trust and hurt him emotionally, whilst she refuses to accept his way of life; monogamy. Additionally she clearly has a far greater interest in Flash and being a member of his harem then she does in Shining who she virtually never even expresses concern about let alone affection, whereas she is virtually nonstop affectionate, attentitive and forward with Flash, also proclaiming him 'awesome' and the 'best'. Heck most scenes of Cadance and Shining involve Cadance making fun of him, calling him a dork, scolding him, growling at him or negatively comparing him to Flash (seriously she publicly denigrates her husband by saying he does not match up to the boy she is cheating on him with and somehow this is Shining's fault and not clearly highly toxic?). Cadance is a horrible person to Shining and clearly, clearly does not value him at all to the same extent that he loves and values her. She even in one chapter complains that when Flash is behaving poorly that 'she'd expect it from her husband but not from Flash'. Its a horrendous marriage. Cadance literally abuses her husband emotionally and attacks his self-worth and self-esteem in front of the man she is cheating on him with, in front of his family and in front of his employers.
It's amazing that Shining Armor doesn't need a therapist since his wife chronically betrays his trust in her, is clearly in love with Flash, his little sister is not remotely interested in his emotional pain but instead in co-opting Cadence into Flash's harem, his parents side with their serial-cheater daughter-in-law over their own son, his employers consider him a nuisance and he has no friends.
Which brings me to my main point. Cadance's abominable moral character aside the bigger point would be that no-one in the cast seems to value Shining whatsoever!
His own little sister, who calls him Big Brother Best Friend Forever in the 'canon' she is based on, has not once expressed anger at the fact that Cadance consistently cheats on Shining. Her only anger, ever, has been because her boyfriend was involved. It's galling that Twilight cares so little for her older brother that she feels no need to comfort him or support him in this matter. Twilight shows almost no compassion to Shining at all in this story, clearly favoring Cadance and supporting her position (she now even encourages Cadance to cheat on Shining) and not believing that Cadance deserves some form of recompense for her horrid actions. This isn't even like a one-time mistake, no, as pointed out Cadance chronically cheats on Shining simply to sate her libido, something she has made clear she values more than Shining's own emotional well-being since whereas she has continued to cheat on him Shining has simply endured it, unhappy as it clearly makes him, and Twilight expresses no problems with this. She's facilitating the infidelity now, with no concern for the pain it causes Shining Armor, despite her earlier strong contempt for Shining's attempt to be involved in her romantic relationship, she feels no similar onus to not involve herself in Shining's romantic relationship. Instead she gets as involved as one can be in a romantic relationship and assists Cadance in emotional and physically cheating on Shining whilst Shining does nothing but resign himself to the fact that Cadance will never return his feelings and that this is the closest he can be to her, a cuckold for her to return home too, to raise her baby for her, to make fun of and taunt, whilst she spends most of her time seen flirting with Flash and Twilight, playing with them and devoting all her energies to them. You talk of basing the characters on their core traits from the show and...being incredibly close and compassionate, risking ridicule and degradation because she suspected someone was trying to hurt him, and being forward, frank and truthful with him even though it made her look insane are Twilight's core traits in regards to Shining Armor.
But it's not just Twilight, no, his parents seem to side with Cadance too and apparently have no problem or believe Cadance ought to make amends for her treatment of Shining Armor. I was aghast that Velvet was so friendly with Cadance when they met, that she held no antagonism or harsh words for a woman who has been blatantly and consistently cheating on her son and has even done so to purposefully hurt him emotionally. Does Velvet care that little for Shining Armor? She had no problem scolding him and hitting him upside the head, yet seems to treat Cadance reverently despite all the hurt Cadance has put Shining Armor through unfairly. I'm trying to imagine parents who, if told by their son that his wife has been sleeping around on him since their engagement and now is part of a harem with his young sister, wouldn't support their son in that situation. But Shining's parents act as if Shining is wrong and Cadance is in the right here, showing no antagonism towards her at all even though she regularly hurts the feelings of their son in one of the most soul-crushingly ways possible.
Atop of that Shining has no friends or family who value him, all wave him aside or lie to him whenever possible, and no one ever takes his side even though his is justified to point out that Cadance took an oath to be faithful which she has purposefully refused to uphold and has purposefully broken in order to emotionally hurt Shining. Yet none of Shining's friends or family call her out on this or console or comfort Shining, he is merely expected to accept his role as a cuckold who must watch from afar, not knowing what is occurring, while his wife joins the harem of her desired 'stud'.
The pain of that isolation, that loneliness, is a truly abominable thing. Bonds, connections of love, respect, mutual reciprocation, trust, tolerance and assistance are things that lift us up. Shining has none of those, everyone in his life treats him as a 'thing' which gets in the way of their enjoyment, something liminal to be shoved aside and made fun of, taunted or compared negatively to Flash akin to some 'Alpha' Male primal fantasy of hierarchical superiority.
I do not know persona well so obviously I can't make many guesses but if any characters have hidden selves, deceptive social links, to them I'd assume it'd be Shining since he's clearly suppressing a lot. I cannot imagine he has expressed even a quarter of what he feels, I can only hope it doesn't end like this for him.
Also the pregnancy, wow, I have to admit I agree with Shining's slack-jawed 'We did this?' since I find it hard to believe that after talking about 'how hard' it was going to be Cadance can suddenly announce her pregnancy after 'amazing' sex with Flash. Then again the cuckold having to raise the baby of the 'Alpha' male is an old trope of hierarchical dominance.
That being said, of course, as the story is not finished yet things can change but I can only talk from where I am now and from where I am...this is just horrible. Seriously Shining is being treated completely unfairly by his family and friends, all his loved ones really, treat him like dirt and clearly place no value in his emotional wellbeing and I can only hope they are force to address this eventually.
Again, as a proviso, I dislike something you are writing (not even all of it) and though this issue is emotional to me and thus I will become heated, none of this is to say you or your beliefs are bad, I believe that to be totally divorced from this issue, and simply want to not let this sink into personal attacks (so I'd like to make clear I'm not saying your bad or anything).
Good luck in all future endeavors

I would like to participate, simply for the sake of sharing information and clearing misunderstandings.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have the impression that you are thinking of the Arcana as if they were like any other playing card.
Let's go through this in parts:
Tarot 101:
The Major Arcana are a set of 22 cards with a significant meaning behind their symbolism. In most classic versions, they range from the "0 Arcana, The Fool" to the "XXI Arcana, The World," each with a different type of knowledge or "message" delivered to the person consulting to them. Each card has the same "value" and this value does not change.
That's the one huge difference between the Major Arcana from the Tarot Deck, and the "suits" of the classic card game (Hearts (♥), Clubs (♣), Diamonds (♦) and Spades (♠)), that do go from 1 (Ace) to 10, with Jacks, Queens and Kings making up the 11, 12 and 13 "tiers" of each suit. While there are many tiers for each suit in the regular card deck, the Major Arcana does not have tiers for each card. You could say that all 22 cards are the tiers the same suit, while each being their own thing.
In Tarot, there's another set of 56 cards called the "Minor Arcana," that resembles the layout of modern playing card deck. It has four suits, ranging from 1 (Ace) to 10, with tiers 11, 12, 13 and 14 represented by the "Page," "Knight," "Queen" and "King." The suits however are those of the Spanish Deck: Cups (Hearts), Wands (Clubs), Golds (Diamond) and Swords (Spades). The Minor Arcana can also be used in divination, but they are not as "powerful" as the Major Arcana.
Tarot in Persona:
In the Persona Games, the Major Arcana are prevalent in almost every facet of the gameplay, as seen in the Arcana of every Persona, every Enemy; and in the case of Persona 3 & 4, Social Links. The Social Links are each represented by one of the Major Arcana, which symbolizes the core of a character's conflict, and the "ranks" represent the progression of said character to resolve this conflict, with Rank 10 marking the moment the conflict is resolved. Basically, the "lesson" the Arcana is trying to impart.
The Minor Arcana do appear in some versions of these games, but only as Post-battle bonuses: Cups for SP (mana) recovery, Wands for Health recovery, Golds for money bonus and Swords for either weapons or Persona-skills.
In Persona EG
Only the Major Arcana are present, in a similar way that they are in the games: each Persona being associated with an Arcana, each (regular) Shadow is associated with one Arcana (from I.Magician to XII.Hangedman) and each Social Link is associated with one Arcana.
Hope you find this invormative. And again, if I am mistaking on my impression on that part of your comment, please accept my apology

We've already discussed this, but for the benefit of anyone who cares I found the handling of two of my favorite characters utterly disgusting. Hence, downvoting and will no longer be reading. Adieu.
6521151
Thank you very much for the information, extremely useful.
Im afraid Im very slow at picking up new types of gameplay, Im staying the hay away from Layton and especially Wright.
I was also confused because I read through my mums pack and book 25 years ago and so had all the wrong thinking already biasing me. Knowing nothing to start with wouldve been preferable.
Now I have this thought stuck in my head of if Zecora can come round, it would be a pity if she couldnt get some Flash off as well.
Moth, I have always wondered this.
What is your real name if you don't mind me asking
6527497 You should not ask questions like that on the Internet. Nor should you give out your own name. Security, anonymity, and all that. That's Internet 101, kid.
6527584
Okay, I understand sir.
And you guessed my status. (Kid, but I'm grown)
Note to readers: Today's chapter will be posted sometime in the late afternoon/early evening.
6530024
Well that is objectively untrue. He's literally as a plot point withheld himself from certain actions and even admitted to not expressing his true thoughts and feelings on a matter important to him out of fear it will upset or be disliked by others within the setting. Of course I wouldn't know where these things are from so whether or not their accuracy matters is something I'm clueless of, but I can say that this is objectively an untrue descriptor.

6530131
Apologies, as said before I find the matter emotive, and thus didn't really get the humor.
6530119
I wasn't going to say anything to you. Until now that you decided to drag me into your little qualm.
All your arguments and defense of Shining Armor are based on the sole reason that we (you, I, the next guy, etc.) don't see him being treated with respect, or having his feelings being taken into consideration, or having others listen to what he has in his mind. Now, I respect you for looking after Shining Armor, and I admit that his situation is the most dire, because it could lead to a dangerously low well-being. But there is one huge flaw in your impressions about this whole situation:
Flash Sentry is the Narrator of this story, and Flash Sentry is NOT omniscient.
The reason we don't see neither Cadance nor Twilight nor Twilight Velvet nor Night Light having a heartfelt talk with Shining Armor where any of them treat him with respect, are considerate to his feelings and listen to what is on his mind, is because they aren't doing it in front of Flash. This is an element that is beyond Flash's knowledge, beyond the Narrator's knowledge, beyond our knowledge. But not beyond Moth's knowledge, who is the author of this story, and I recall that he has said in the past that all these things that we don't see happening did happen.
Another good example is the time when Rainbow Dash got her leg busted by Hoops and Score. People complained that it came out of nowhere. That's because for Flash Sentry/The Narrator, it did came out of nowhere. Flash wasn't present in any of the preceding events that lead to the assault on Rainbow Dash. It was beyond Flash's knowledge (AND interpretation of this knowledge), and thus we, the readers, could not see that coming.
Now, onto your particular observation on my "S.Link Flavor Text." Once again I'll repeat, Flash Sentry is the Narrator, and he is not omniscient. Yes, Shining Armor has his personal reasons for doing what he does and yes, he talks about them in the future. But once again, Flash is the one telling the events. Flash cannot read Shining's mind nor can he see into the future. By this moment in time, Flash only knows that Shining is being a jerk for the sake of being a jerk. It is what he gathers from this situation. It is what he understands and knows in this moment of time. You and I know there's more because you've read further into the story to know that Shining is witholding his true felings at this moment in time. But Flash doesn't know this at this moment in time. Is it objective? Yes, it is, because that's the idea. But not because of that it is false.
As a closing point, you can't limit your argument to what is explicitly stated in the narration of this story, because the knowledge conveyed in the narration is limited to the knowledge, understanding and interpretation of the Narrator, who happens to be the Protagonist of the story.
6530051 I honestly feel that blogs about this and then deleting said blog after updating the story would be better then putting it in the comment, but that is just my opinion.
You are the writer and you are doing what you feel is easier and better for the story, and I trust how you handle this story.
6530471
Ooooh, Malignant Narcissism you got roasted!
Hidden, my sir. Do you think he should know this, it's not hard to understand that Flash is one person and he is not at all places at all times when something is happening
