I just looked at the rank levels and Rainbow Dash just needs one more to get her rainbow persona, I can't wait to see what you and Zef do for it.
Nice to see that Pinkie's team won. I guess that Flash and Pinkie will be buying their beach wear at the same time.
Two marshmallows for the price of one! YAY!
I can't wait for Spring Break. I get the feeling that the Fluttershy social link is going to start either there or sometime before. Though, I guess it would make sense for it to happen on her birthday too.
Now that I think about it, if she's reversed then Flash might not be ABLE to start her social link.
Aha... Button's problems apparently go further than "is maladjusted, should be avoided."
... I would like to see what Sweetie sees in him, given that he is apparently intolerably bad, to the point where the normally-somewhat-nice cast of the fic are judging him harshly.
So I'm interested to hear more about it... and I think it's to be a big part of the Temperence link.
Being trusted to make your own decisions is one of the best and scariest parts of growing up. You can follow your heart, but you also have to face the consequences of the choices you make, both the direct consequences and how others view those choices. Sweetie's learning what it means to take the road less traveled, and Rarity's discovering just what kind of person her little sister is. They both have a long way to go.
Marshmellow chapter! YAY!
Anyway, I don't think Sweetie and Button are gonna last that long. I wish that she can make it work, but I have the feeling that she'll have to concede in the end.
And I was right about the training session. I wonder how their dynamic would have changed now that they now Fluttershy will be around during that.

I think the reason why Fluttershy can't form a social link isn't because an inverted link cannot, but for the more practical reasons that she sees Flash as an enemy... and because the nature of the inverted Priestess (looked it up, and it looks like one interpretation of the inverted priestess is a person who refuses to open the door to their intuition/the secrets they know except in a hateful way. It's amazingly spot on) is one that prevents forming a bond with others, not because an inverted link cannot form bonds.
She seems to be doing a decent job forming a bond with Sonata, though.
As more evidence: in P4 Golden Adachi's social link, the Jester, is basically the reversed Fool, representing the opposite of the virtues of the Fool (which represents open mindedness, the start of the journey, unlimited potential). Adachi squanders it with his myopic and narrow view of life. He was poised to start his own journey, but chose not to. But the player can form a true enough bond with Adachi even through that because there is nothing preventing the player from actually being friends with someone who is simply a bad or flawed person.
6028746 Well, considering he was playing a game in his head while half talking and answering questions during the dinner, until Luna brought up video games... There is a certain phrase that people assume is limited to traditional studies and only traditional studies (math, the branches of science, literature, expertise in birth language, and so on), that phrase is Idiot Savant. Outside of their subject, they are at best average, including social interactions, but in their subject they might as well be the second coming. This is not a mental condition that forces its self to be alone, so Button may very well fall on the autistic spectrum, but he can barely interact with other people unless it's about games.
6028871
That's not EXACTLY what Button was doing, but since the narrative never did (and never WILL) get inside his head, I'll elaborate here:
Button Mash, for the purposes of this story, literally can't interact with the world around him without a comfortable frame of reference. Outside of basic necessities (eating, sleeping, bathing, dressing) and interacting with his mom, Button Mash can't cope with any social or high-pressure situation without a comfortable frame of reference. That thing Flash saw him doing with his hands? He was QTEing/dialogue treeing the world around him in his mind.
6028901 So, more an Asperger's thing than anything else? Or am I reading too deep into it?
6028928 Similar, but different. More high-functioning autism.
6029005 I can relate with him.
I have high-functioning autism myself.
I know someone with Autism, and I have Asperger's. It's not fun to be teased 'cuz of it, and I want to be online schooled, but my mom keeps on insisting that I need the social interaction. Huh, I do typing/piano movements with my hands a lot... And doing the "spam the button" movement a lot....
I'm fairly uncomfortable with how the Main Cast is judging Button harshly, because of his social problems.(You'd think they would be more understanding since they've been treated as outcasts because of nasty rumors)Especially since I can sympathize with him, being a social introvert myself. But sadly,it is a realistic reaction since people tend to be weirded out by people who act differently than the societal norm....
6029482 Well, that's precisely the point. We're "weirded out" by experiencing that which is outside our norm, but then it's up to us to learn from it and treat people with the respect they deserve. Some people never "get it" and keep on mocking whatever is different; others just think it's too much effort to change themselves for someone else. Given this bunch, it might take a bit of introspection to get there, with or without Sweetie Belle's example, but they have empathy to spare.
6030020 Understandable that the situation with Button would cause some discomfort, and it's sort of meant to. Please do note, however, that nothing in this chapter is an author tract about autism. Don't confuse my opinions as the writer with the statements and opinions expressed by the characters. The characters are thrust into a situation with a kid they don't know, who behaves VERY strangely, and they don't know how to deal with him.
6030084 Especially since I know you hate when people throw out the word "autistic" to describe bronies in general. I hate it, too. It shows general lack of empathy, as well as ignorance.
I was diagnosed with Asperger's (albeit mild) not even at double-digits. I used to be absolutely horrible socially. Now, I'm not great, but far, FAR better than I was as an adolescent, because I made friends and exposed myself to many different situations. I am an Eagle Scout. I have a Bachelor's in Chemistry. I have a job at a medical adhesive research facility. I have friends I love very much and enjoy hanging out with. I don't do it as often as I'd like, but I still hang. I've even participated in Friday Night Magic recently, and enjoy going to anime conventions. Most people probably can't notice my autism now.
People with autism can improve. They need the support of others, though, not the chastisement. I think Flash is being a great person here, supporting Sweetie Belle's friendship with Button even though he was very awkward to be around. Here's hoping the mini marshmallow and the gamer kid can work it out, regardless of what our Empress thinks.
6030516 I can add my own confirmation on this; I've got Asperger's myself, though where the diagnosis falls isn't clear these days. (The diagnosis was at best kind of crude, being some 20-22 years ago now, before it had really been classified for proper diagnosis.) The reason I brought it up is because I've had some of the same issues that Button displayed, and still do even now. I don't do hand motions as much anymore (unless I'm really stressed out or anxious), but I do tend to mentally keep myself inside that comfortable frame of reference.
I feel I should also point out that Asperger's is in fact currently considered part of the Autism spectrum. Just FYI and all that.
personally I'm a bit of a misanthrope myself, so I can relate to Buttons dislike of people. I think you've overenbelished (is that a word?) his love of gaming.RARITY ISN'T NICE! MAKE KARMA DO SOMETHING.
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."
6032165 I am going to do my absolute best to be as polite as possible here, and believe me, it is not easy given your comment.
I know you are far from my most observant reader, but might I suggest you take a moment to go back and look at each time Juan's link ranked up, and what OTHER link ranked up at around the same time?
If you can't handle that on your own, I'll spell it out below:
The Devil link ranks up after every major Zodiac battle, just like the Fool link. Because it's a story link.
6032126
Used to be my favorite poem, that.
... Unsure why I'm finding it here though...
Sounds like a tower persona, though.

You're right. After all, this is the same group that didn't give Flutterbitch any sympathy. Though considering all the stuff she's done,it's understandable why they don't trust her at the moment.
I could be off base on this,as her S. Link hasn't even started yet,but it doesn't seem like she feels any remorse for the stuff she did to the crew barring one exception.
Honestly though,I think it would be interesting if the last level of the Chariot S. Link dealt with her fatal flaw:her tactless nature. This has bitten her in the ass throughout the story in small and large(Fluttershy ) ways. If not in the link, then somewhere in the story,I actually want her to learn and grow from it.
Also, this is something interesting I thought of. Are Rainbow and Flutters still childhood friends in this universe? If so,then maybe why Rainbow's been acting like an ass lately (it doesn't justify her behavior as the others are at least polite to her) is that she's secretly hurt at Flutters (and at the things shes done to her and her friends) and it scares her that her friend that she's known forever has become a person she barely recognizes. Or... she could just be an ass that's way too stubborn. I'm not writing the story, but it's food for thought.
... Yeah, because putting 'autistic' on the same level of 'creepy' and 'weird' is of course not insulting, nice save author
Sorry, that's the basic idea I get from this line, I know you don't intend anything with this line, but I seem to take it this way and am a little insulted, whenever you're talking about an unfavorable character, can you just stick to 'socially awkward'? Because bringing up autism just seems unneeded and pointless.
Double Marshmallows!
6033287 While I do agree with what you say,
It DOES explain a lot about the kid. Anyone who has something like this, myself included, does not mean that they can't be accepted into society.
It just takes longer for them to get adjusted to life and to find something to do with it.
So, I ask this of anyone, old and young, of all walks of life, do not shun those who are different. Who knows, they might just be the next Albert Einstein.
Thank you,

Yeah, I mean seeing how he acts in this fic, and as a person with Autism. He does have some of the quirks that you'd see there. And of course it's less of a spectrum and more of a wheel XD.
That said, he could still function in society, and even live independently. He'll just have certain things, moments, or areas in his life that'll be more difficult for him. Personally I hope that between Sweets, his mom, and any new friends he gets. They can help him out.

I feel bad for Button Mash, he reminds me of...well a younger me. Hang in there little dude.
