eh, i just personally dont like COTG as much as the others, its definetly alright though, and CSP is way too scifi for me

Definitely some great ones here, but I'm surprised not to see Shifting Melodies on the list. Fantastic fic, though quite a long one. Having all the clop available, but sorted to the side story is just a bonus.

It is no longer on my own list. What drew me to the story was that changelings were not ponies; a radical concept am I right? It was fun watching an alien mind, with alien values, cope with pony society. Now though? After mind rape by the queen just before the wedding it has been discovered that they are all modified, mentally, to be what they are. Idol is now a pony pony of the changeling ethnicity. Nothing in their biology, or even physiology, alters how they act. Cersis (cerses?), who was taken from the hive really young, is so painfully pony I question why she is a changeling in the first place (it adds nothing to the story). The greatest part of the story has now been removed.

Then there was the actual rape... which happened just after Chrysalis mind raped him. So... running on the orders "enjoy the wedding to the fullest" Idol forced himself on Topaz. Topaz, who not so secretly loves him, participated after the initial shock; or I assume as the actual porn wasn't written. So Topaz also rapes Idol as he is not in his right mind and is unable to stop/consent. This smacks in the face like those old fashioned romance novels (written by women for women) where the leading man and woman lock eyes, he rapes her and she declares that he loves her...

wtf... I have read honest porn books with more healthy relationships than Changeling of the Guard.

Pointed some of this out and am blocked by the author. I feel no shame in it to this day.

The first 150-200k words are a joy to read. After that it becomes cheap unimaginative trash not worth the time.

lol wut? i dont really get this, idol wasn't in his right mind, yes, but chrysalis never explicitly told idol to bang topaz. idol only did it because he always loved her, he just had to suppress those feelings until the wedding since he had the orders which forced him not to breed and thus not to be in a relationship.

the order of "enjoy the wedding to the fullest" must have just bypassed it, because if you're right; why would idol still stay with topaz after the wedding?

and where the hell did you get the idea that idol raped topaz? sure, he was very forward, but the scene right after the sex shows topaz quite satisfied. nothing implies he actually raped her.

even if you're right, topaz definetly didnt rape idol, atleast not on purpose, because she never knew he was mind raped.

unrelated, but the one of the main things i didnt like about the story was the infuriatingly delayed romance between topaz and idol. it was quite obvious they were eventually going to get together. but christ, it took so bloody long, i hated the fact that idol literally couldn't because of his orders.
