During the war between Celestia and Nightmare Moon, Night mare forced Luna to conceive a heir. After realizing the war was lost Night mare sealed the colt in stasis and hide her weapon for her return a few thousand years later. But she never got the chance.

The NCR Veteran Ranger, Elite Class, Capt. Michael Denton was seen as a kind and honorable man by wasteland standards. Until it finally broke him. His reason for joining the NCR changed. He used means that would be considered monstrous to defeat his enemies and complete his objective. The NCR saw this and decided to use him as a weapon. Haunted by the death of his sister and his government using him, Michael turned into a monster. But after a mission gone wrong Michael found himself and his team trapped by raiders inside an underground research facility and his life was about to take an unexpected turn.

"If he ever mentions what I just did to anyone, I'm going to murder him in such a brutal fashion that there will be nothing left but a giant mess looking worse than Kael after his latest setback."

An "experiment" gone wrong, a death knight finds himself, his brother and their guild scribe in Equestria, in the shape of the equine race known in this realm as ponies.

As the night approaches, they set up a make-shift camp. Having no need for sleep, the death knight naturally acts as the night watch. To pass time, he starts writing in his journal.

Little does he know what the future has in store for him and his fellow misfits. After all, the universe is an obnoxious bastard.
