When Twilight and her friends started asking their draconic friend, Spike, about what he's done in the Dragon Lands after the following years of Twilight's coronation, they are in for a tale.

Please note that I think this what happened before Spike returned to Equestria to help Twilight.

(Spyro seriesXmlp) Spike's always been curious about his race, but then again what dragon wouldn't be when all they've ever known is ponies? So when a spell book arrives that may offer some answers to his questions, with a little help from Twilight of course, the young dragon is overjoyed to say the absolute least.

Though when things somehow end up going astronomically sideways, Ponyville finds itself playing host to three unexpected visitors; three scaly visitors by the names of Spyro, Cynder, and Ember to be exact, each bringing their own personal touch of chaos to the small town.

Soon awkward and unusual situations arise, tempers flare with destructive consequences, personal demons and ancient evils threaten to rear their long suppressed heads, and Spike learns that sometimes, if you wait long enough, love will find you.

Inspired by this piece of fan-art I found (not mine) featuring Spike and Ember, and the short comic 'Spyro's back'

In a surprise visit, Dragon Lord Ember comes to Ponyville with important news to give to her good friend Spike. According to her words, a great gathering among dragons is soon to be upon them, and in it, every dragon of age must find another dragon to become mated to by its end -- for life -- or risk becoming mate-less and alone forever, as stated by dragon law.

With such a sudden and perturbing turn of events, Spike, who is of the proper maturity, finds himself thrust into a most dire situation. Being raised by ponies has left him unfamiliar with his kind's inherent customs and traditions, but he knows that if he fails to participate or act like a proper dragon at the gathering, he fears he could lose his chance to show Ember the feelings he's been keeping from her for the past few years.

Does Spike have the ability to behave like the rest of his kind? And even if he succeeds in relearning his dragon instincts with the help of his friends, will he still be able to win over Ember's affections before someone else does?

It started when they first met. A growing flame that began to burn in their hearts. It was unknown to them what this flame was, but it grew stronger as they got older and their feelings moved on from friendship to something else. Some fires grow slowly, but when given time they burn more passionate and brighter then any volcano.

Adopted by a dragon couple instead of by the Sparkle family, Spike's life was set to take a very different course indeed...

Follow him now through love, laughter, and loss as he learns his way around the realms of Avalar. And oh yes, tries not to drive his adoptive parents up the wall... too much anyways.

Did I forget to mention said adoptive parents are Spyro and Cynder? Oh yes, this is a thing now.

As he focused more on the image of Fleur Dis Lee, his imagination got the better of him, causing his heart to palpitate rapidly. “How does one approach somepony who gives off this vibe of being so…” he paused again, unconsciously licking his lips, “...untouchable?”

Spike and Rainbow Dash are bored. It seems they've done everything there is to do in Canterlot. But when Spike suddenly spots the exotically beautiful Fleur Dis Lee with her friends, an idea sprouts. What will the pair have in store for Fleur?

The weak Princess sits on her throne. Guards—and a dragon—keep monsters behind the door. The Elements concentrate on a spell. Fewer guards return in each instance.

And more of Spike is eaten by non-existence.
