Poor Spike, all he wanted to do is spend time near the pony he adores. Now, because of one little lie, he's in real trouble. A geography bee, a macabre doppelgänger, and an icebox all play their part as Spike and Rarity once again find themselves on pins and needles...

Spike's dreams of Rarity are shattered, and at the worst possible time, for his friends will need him to make it through their greatest crisis.

Inspired by the United Kingdom entry to the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, "Love Will Set You Free" by Engelbert Humperdinck. From the second chapter onward, different songs serve as the inspiration, so check the comments for the links.

Twilight's ascension brought many changes to her life but it didn't just affect her, Spike changed as well evetually taking on the mantle of Ponyvile's Librarian and three year after Twilight's ascension moved out with help from Discord. Due to his new found indepdence his body changed rapidly, being large than the average pony with a pair of strong wings as well as body covered in muscle. After saving a down on her luck Trixie from Timberwolves and trying to stave off he once would have cherished, Rarity's affection.

Spike feeling unappreciated for all his work is whisked away by a royal pony of ice and snow. The girls venture to the frozen parts of Equestria to rescue him before he decides to never want to come home at all.

After Spike gets his Heart stomped into little pieces will he ever be happy again?

Will another pony fill the hole in his heart?

Can he forget the incident and try another chance at love?

Only time will tell.

Spike shows up on Fluttershy's doorstep at the crack of dawn, professing heartbreak and asking for a shoulder to cry on. Fluttershy does as every pony should: she makes him a pot of tea, and sends him off to bed.

This is the story of where that takes them.

This turned out to have three endings. In order they are Bad, True, Happy, and have been placed in the story where they would have occurred had I written them 'in flow' if you will. They are not tied to each other and you only need to read the one you want to get an end to the journey. Thank you to everyone who supported this to the end. It was a lovely trip

As the years drew on, Spike's childish heart grew into that of a true adult, longing for the finer things in life; the finest things. He pursues his relationship with Rarity, but all does not go as planned.

Filled with anger and sorrow, Spike and Rarity fall away from one another. In his grief, Spike pursues new interests, and their friendship is in danger of never recovering.

But perhaps the truest words in life are these: you do not know what you had until you have lost it. Jealous and alone, finding no comfort in stallions she once loved, can Rarity reclaim her one chance at true love, before it is too late?

Spike has tried to become the perfect knight; unfortunately Rarity rejects him. His cries of anguish do not go unheard in the moonlit night. Luna comforts the ailing dragon however her hurting heart yearns too. Meanwhile Rarity realizes what she is missing and sets forth to undo her mistake. However, as Spike gets closer to the Night Princess intrigue is sure to follow.
