It had been a while since Twilight Sparkle last visited the alternate world. So she pops in to catch up with the human alternates of her Ponyville friends. But things seem different and there's a familiar vibe in the air. So when she hears it's Valentine's Day, she naturally has questions to how it compares to Hearts and Hooves Day. Good thing Flash and the girls are there to help her.

After witnessing Sunset's defeat, the Dazzlings realize the is now magic in the human world. Using their own hypnotic powers, they manage to turn the school Musical Show Case into a team dueling tournament. After Sunset and the girls get a message to Twilight, she and Spike arrive to help. They soon discover that the Dazzlings are actually evil Sirens that plan to conquer the world. Can the girls sever the Siren's spell by defeating them in a duel? Or can even they even be stopped at all? Next story is The Dueling Games.

After the musical showcase and Fall Formal, Twilight has to contemplate returning back to Equestria. Her time in this world has been fun. Finding Coppermane's human counterpart, watching him and Fluttershy fall in love all over again, and spending time with her friends has been amazing, but she has duties back home, and she can't stay here forever.

There's just one problem. One thing is keeping her here. Her relationship with Flash Sentry.

Now that she's in possession of a working portal, Princess Celestia asks Twilight to go back to Sunset Shimmer's world to check up on her.

As Twilight and Fluttershy walk through the halls one day, the two witness a new student being bullied by two jocks; beaten and humiliated in front of everyone to the point of tears.

Naturally, the two offer help, but when they do, Twilight comes to realize that this new student is Coppermane's, her newest friend's, human counterpart, and he and Fluttershy become quite smitten with each other.

Twilight crosses the mirror portal to pursue Sunset Shimmer after the theft of the Element of Magic. She finds herself in a world of odd two-legged creatures, and for some reason they're all obsessed with a card game called "Duel Monsters." Twilight soon learns that the only way to get her crown back is to win it in the school's semi-annual duel tournament, of which Sunset has been the reigning champion three rounds running. The tournaments have divided the school, and split up a group of five friends similar to Twilight's friends in Equestria.

Twilight now faces her biggest adventure yet. She must master Duel Monsters, reconcile these other versions of her friends, and defeat Sunset to win the Autumn Crown. And she has only three days to pull it off. It's time to duel!

An alternate Yu-Gi-Oh take on Equestria Girls. After feeling uneasy about using someone else's established setting for my previous anthology, I decided to put my own spin on the concept, and thus we have Equestria Girls: Duel Monsters.

We all know what happened when newly crowned Princess Twilight Sparkle went through the enchanted mirror that led her to a world parallel to Equestria to retrieve her crown stolen by Sunset Shimmer. But, what if she hadn't gone through alone?

What if instead of Spike, her friends defied Celestia's warning and followed her into the other world? Would things really be that disastrous, or can this group of friends bring back together a different group of friends, who remind them of ponies, or creatures, back home in Equestria, or seem somewhat familiar? And will they also help the Mane 6 stop Sunset Shimmer from accomplishing whatever plan she's scheming?
